Better than AMD Athlon 64 4400+?

Hi I'm building a new comp and i need to know whether this Core 2 E6300 is better performance and price wise than AMD's Dual core 4400. Can anyone tell me please? Oh and one more thing. Description says 4mb L2 cache but product details says 2mb. Does that mean each core is 2mb of L2 cache? Ty for reading.
