5 Star Review Best price/performance chip on the market

Strengths:

2.4 ghz CPU rips thru games

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Dec 13, 2005 - Unless you want to spend another 5 Franklins on an FX chip, the AMD 4000+ is your best choice for choosing a gaming CPU. The price drops make this chip ultra affordable, and the speed and performance are remarkable for the money. It's almost a shame that dual core CPU's are the wave of the future, but single core isn't dead yet and the 4000+ is AMD's fastest non-FX single core. I'll step up to dual core when the prices start to come down a bit for the >2.4 ghz models, but for now this chip is an ideal choice to perform your gaming or business tasks.

5 Star Review A single core powerhouse of the Gaming World

Strengths:

Very very fast, simple installation, very robust design metal plate, good multitasker, good value for money

Weaknesses:

None other than not being a dual core, included fan could be better quality

Posted Jan 11, 2006 - It was a close race between this processor and the dual core 64 bit AMD 4400. In the end, the high performance relative to price of the processor won me over. I think once quad core come out the price for the duals will drop, until then this processor is on the short list. I have built several machines over a period of time and this is my first 64 bit processor, I will have to save CPU is much more refined then previous processor. I especially like the heavy metal heat distributor on the back of the processor far thicker and heavier than previous AMD models. You might strain a back muscle loading into your machine. The only other recommendation I could make is to go with an after market cpu fan, I have never been a fan of the stock retail fans that come with the processor. Would recommend anybody looking for a serious CPU and wants a better value than Intel.

5 Star ReviewThis processor is the FX-53 without the unlocked o ...

Strengths:

Fast and reliable with 64-bit capability for upcoming 64-bit software. For 3D and gaming, Athlon 64 is currently faster than Pentium 4.

Weaknesses:

Expensive. Unlike the FX-53, this does not have unlocked overclocking options.

Posted Feb 20, 2005 - This processor is the FX-53 without the unlocked overclocking options. But it is also cheaper than the FX-53, and I don't plan to overclock anyways--I want to keep my PC quiet.

5 Star Review Processor

Strengths:

High performance

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jul 12, 2005 - Although I was skeptical at first about using a 64 bit AMD processor, this chip exceeds my expectations. It runs very fast and the 2ghz FSB is fast enough to keep anything moving at optimal speed

5 Star Review Athlon 64 4000

Strengths:

2.4 GHz, 1MB cache, 64bit

Weaknesses:

130 nm process

Posted Oct 25, 2006 - I have been wanting this since forever. I just got to have it. With all the Dual Cores and Core 2 Duo's out there, this is plenty good for me and also the price is perfect comparing to the AMD single core FX series. Great!
