The Core i7 920 is the enthusiast's choice when it comes to a processor that provides an excellent combination of raw performance, overclocking headroom, and value. The i7 920 represents the “budget” sector of Intel’s LGA1366 lineup and it has the lowest frequency speed of all of the Nehalem chips; nevertheless, it still offers performance above and beyond that of Intel’s older LGA 775 processors. The 920 offers the same Hyper Threading and other architectural features of the Nehalem design. It is also an excellent overclocker as well as a powerful processor for a reasonable price. The i7 920 is a screamer when overclocked and since its release has maintained relatively good value considering its performance. The Core i7 can easily overclock past its stock frequency, even on default voltage settings. It frequently sees overclocking past 4GHz with good air cooling and a slight bump in voltage. This processor exhibits extreme performance surpassing that of a stock i7 975 and comes at a fifth of the price.
