A Sweet Piece of Hardware
Picture, Sound, Size, Setup, Price
Slow to start, Depth
Posted 1 year ago - Lets go over the Strengths first then I way tackle some of the Weaknesses. The size of this unit has to be one of the biggest available on the market. If you are looking for the biggest TV for the money, well, this is your TV. I think I paid about $2300 for this TV. I think that is the biggest bang for the buck I could have gotten. I read up on this TV and everyone says how beautiful the picture is on it, and I have to agree. It is a sweet picture. The colors are bright and vivid and the blacks are dark and black. I also think the sound is very load and vivid. I even have to keep the thing a bit low because the thing can really boom loudly if you let it. Lastly, the setup of the inputs is pretty easy. It is plug and play. When you connect something to the unit it auto-detects what type of device it is and shows you on the screen. Pretty straight forward for the novices out there. OK. Now, lets cover the Weaknesses, if there are any. I read that other people thought the unit took a long time to start up. I admit it doesn't come right on, but if it takes 20 seconds, I'd be surprised. I don't think 20 seconds for the TV to come on is that unreasonable. The last thing I will say is that if you think this is a skinny unit like a Flat Panel or a Plasma...you will be wrong. However, the unit is only 15 inches thick, which is relatively thin compared to older projection TV's from the 90's. Also, don't buy that DLP's are inferior to Flat Panel and Plasma talk. I did side by side comparison's at Circuit City and I felt that this DLP had a better picture then both Plasma and Flat Panels. It's all about what you prefer. If you absolutely want to wall mount a TV then you will probably have no choice but to get a Flat Panel or Plasma. I was going more for size, price and picture then the ability to wall mount the device. By the way the make these brackets that allow you to hang the TV on these brackets so that the TV is suspended in air that way is gives the illusion that it is wall mounted. I don't think you can go wrong with this TV. Go with it you won't be disappointed.
