Great value for the money

Strengths: Price, image, size, documentation, overall value

Weakness: Bulb price (as with all other projectors in this class), mediocre manual doesn't disclose necessary information, leveling feet/projection angle are somewhat "high" making aiming difficult

A this point I only have a few hours' experience with the device, but this projector seems to be a very good value for the money. The picture is fine - we watched a movie the other night at a distance of maybe 10 feet, on a 6 foot wide improvised screen (dark room) and it looked great. There isn't a lot more to say. T

he manual, like so many, is pretty pathetic. There is zero documentation of ANY menu option (there are lots of on-screen menu options) yet a full page is wasted on showing how to connect an S-Video source (plug one end of an S-Video cable into an S-Video media source, then plug the other end into the projector's S-Video input)

There are a great many undocumented menu options, including this vaunted low-power bulb-saving mode, and several others that SHOULD be documented. Seems to be the typical case of off-shored manufacturing where the software details have been left up to the manufacturer, and and documentation writer has NO CLUE what those features are, either, and so just leaves the details out of the book.

The projector also has a serial port and a USB port, and these are, as well, completely undocumented.

Somewhat frustrating and disappointing to have a device with fractional documentation, and then only of the most obvious stuff. The point of documentation is to explain the things that are non-obvious and I wish more people would call manufacturers to complain about this kind of shoddy delivery, particularly when it's an otherwise appealing device.

I love It

Strengths: size, price, brightness, and easy to use

Weakness: the only thing I am not completely satisfy is no zooming option. considering the price tag, I am still love this projector

I don't think u can find any other type of projector with this price( cost only US $499 ).I used Viewsonic LCD monitor too. Overall, I am very satisfied with Viewsonic quality-control. I think, I will continue to look for Viewsonic products FIRST in the future if I need something to buy. I like this projector very much.

Good bang for the buck

Strengths: good picture for presentations, several modes to fit your needs (photo, presentation, theatre)

Weakness: replacement bulbs are expensive, but what ones are not; printed user manual has limited info

I bought this projector for my daughter's school. They needed one for open houses and presentations. The picture is great. I used it for a school presentation and people commented on how nice it was. If you have used a projector before, then using this one will be a snap. One of the best entry level projectors on the market. Viewsonic continues to impress me.

A good projector

Strengths: Low cost, portability.

Weakness: No HD support.

This is a good quality projector, which works very well for a computer presentation or movie watching. Its low cost makes it very affordable for a person who doesn’t have HD. The clear and bright picture provides a unique experience of home theatre. Also surprisingly simple installation seals the deal for me.

PJ503D Projector

Strengths: very easy to use. It has several modes. You can pickup what you like!

Weakness: The machine is very hot after you use it. I think most of projector has the same situation.

This is a very nice projector. It has remote control, therefor that is very convenient. The price is very cheap. If you have TV-BOX or TV-Turner, the quality could be higher than 800X600.

PJ503D

Strengths: very cheap, HD support

Weakness: no zoom

I got this projector for $399 after rebate at Staples. It is pretty much the cheapest in the market that one can find. The image of it is crisp. It is just that the dark part of the movie is really hard to see. Maybe it is one common thing for projector. I also got the free mount ($15 for shipping) from Elite, Inc.

Decent projector for a good price

Strengths: Price, size, easy to use, S-video/RCA/VGA support, multi mode support

Weakness: No zoom, flimsy height/angle adjuster, No cables except VGA, poor documentation

This is my first personal projector. I have used many projector before at work which are all expensive and high end machines. This one is a good low end projector and hence I do not complain a whole lot about the zoom absence in this model. For < $499, this is a great value for money. The S-video, RCA, and VGA support make it my favorite since I can connect it to my computer, my portable DVD player, my DVD player, and other devices too. The unit is very easy to setup and use. It worked right out of the box and the menus were intuitive. I did read that some users complained about no widescreen format, but when I looked in the menu, there is support for 16:9 format. The brightness is very good for home movie viewing. Even with lights on, the image was fairly visible.
There are lot of preset modes which avoid the hassle of manually adjusting the brightness etc (which can be done ofcourse). Overall I am very happy with the device. I wish it came with S-video cable. Documentation is not great but I have not had to use it so I think it is nothing to worry about much.
One thing that I did not like much was the height adjustment. It seems easy to use but it could have been better. There is only one support in the front to tilt the projection up or down. I wish it was better than what is provided. Still its useful.

View Sonic PJ503D DLP Projector Review

Strengths: compact design and user friendly to use.

Weakness: The package does not come with S-video cable and output is not wide screen.

ViewSonic produce a good quality product. The projector is aimed for the entry level user. It is simple and easy to use. I would recommend it for everyone who is looking for a bargain projector. Start up only take about 1 minute. So far I am happy with it.

affordable entry level projector that works

Strengths: value for money

Weakness: no frills

This projector was bought to replace a infocus projector that was great but eating lot of lamps. Did a lot of research and finalized this for its value for money. I use this in my basement with daylight and in the night without any problem.

I really like this unit! It is bright,1500 lumens. It is simple to use with no fancy buttons and it doesnt make lot of noise like my earlier projector. It is a great value for the price. I am also expecting a $100 rebate so that will be cool. We use it more frequently for movies, kids education and even tv programs. The projector is perfect for all those activities. I think this is the best value in projector market. Forgot to mention the warranty. It comes with 2 year warranty and I purchased extra 2 years for $60! For next 4 years, no worries!!

PJ503D DLP Projector (800x600, 1500 Lumens, 2000:1)

Strengths: size, price, brightness, light weight, small remote control easy to use

Weakness: Only for 800X600 not for higher resolution. becomes hot soon may be all projectors

I love this projector. I play DVDs on laptop and connect to this projector and watch it at my house. Feels as if watching in a movie theatre. Price of this camera is good.
Remote control is very helpful. This is my second projector of same model. As it is cheap I bought one for each of the 2 rooms I use the most.
