5 Star Review Terrfic projector at an unbelievable price

Strengths:

Bright Great Colors

Weaknesses:

No lens shift

Posted 1 year ago - I decided to upgrade to a new widescreen projector for my new media room instead of re-using my existing Infocus X1 and Da-Lite High Power screen. I decided to go with a 720p projector since the costs of 1080p projectors were still too high for my tastes, I figured I could upgrade a few years from now when prices went down. I had narrowed it down to this Mitsubishi HC1500 and the Panasonic PT-AX200U, which both got terrific reviews. In the end, I ended up purchasing the HC1500 since it was $500 cheaper than the Panasonic. I have it projecting a 110" diagonal image on a Carada screen and the image is incredible. I don't have any problems with the "screen door effect" or rainbows, and the projector has plenty of brightness even in low lamp mode.

5 Star Review Great so far

Strengths:

Price. Brightness. Picture color and contrast.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Aug 22, 2007 - I bought this projector to build up a home theater in my basement. Haven't even set up a screen yet, just shooting onto a wall. The experience is captivating. Even with a small amount of ambient light the picture is still great. Throwing the picture from 16 feet I am getting a 127" diagonal picture. I am using the JVC TH-D60 with 5.1 surround which up-converts normal DVD's to 1080i. Though not as good as my friend's Mitsubishi with HD, the picture is outstanding. The price, picture, and brightness make this a great choice. I like it more than a more expensive LCD or plasma setup especially for light controlled areas like my basement.

5 Star Review Great Value - Great Product

Strengths:

High visibility even with fair amount of ambient light, does dark scenes well, great color, imputs, cost

Weaknesses:

Mounting holes (takes M4 metric screws), very little else

Posted Aug 28, 2007 - I have upgraded to this model from the Optoma EP-719. I use this projector mostly for HD with Dish Network, and with my XBox 360. After some minor settings changes in the menus, I have a fantastic picture that is 10' wide. This projector is "bright". My old EP-719 had problems with mild ambient light, and definitely had difficulty with dark scenes on DVDs. These problems are gone with the HC1500. I bought a bulb warranty for $128 which will provide me replacements for 3 years. I highly suggest that you buy one with your projector. Please note this however as I have not seen this in ANY review so far: The projector is noticeably darker when projecting the image upside down (hanging from ceiling). It may have something to do with the inversion process. I would highly suggest this projector for your HD TV/Movie/Gaming needs.

5 Star Review Terrific Projector for a Reasonable Price!

Strengths:

HD 720p capability, good lighting, great portability

Weaknesses:

Price could be cheaper, costly replacement bulbs

Posted Nov 15, 2007 - Just tried this projector out with my laptop using the VGA cable. Even without a screen, the picture still looked great against my wall. The settings are nearly perfect out of the box. Can't wait to hook up an HDMI-capable device to this thing. Definitely an investment that will last.

5 Star Review Excellent Value for Home Theater on a Budget

Strengths:

High brightness - Great contrast - Compact size - Quiet - Superb value

Weaknesses:

Large offset limits placement options - Only average black levels - No 1080p/24 support

Posted 1 year ago - This projector has so much going for it. With its above-average ANSI contrast (since it is DLP), it can really project an image that has great depth to it. All the inputs are there including HDMI that will support 1080p/60. Even though this is a 720p native resolution projector, the images are very sharp, well saturated, and seem to pop off the screen due to the depth. At the current close-out pricing, this has to be the best value out there right now. I'm enjoying every minute. Feed it a signal from Blu-ray or HD DVD and you will be amazed.

4 Star Review Excellent unit for the price

Strengths:

Price, Lumens

Weaknesses:

Zoom

Posted 1 year ago - I am happy with this projector. It was the best I could find in this price range (less that $800 for a 720P). It has more lumens (1600) than others in its price range. I wish there was a little more manual zoom (1.2) because this limits the placement of the unit to get the desired screen size. I mounted this on the ceiling aprrox 13 feet from the screen and there is approx 17 inches from the center of the lense to the top of my screen when the unit is flat - which is quite a big drop when on an eight foot ceiling. I am extremely please with the picture quality.
