4 Star Review Good Budget Projector

Strengths:

Good Price, Long Lamp Life, Low Lamp Cost

Weaknesses:

Made for business use, so not widescreen

Posted Feb 26, 2008 - First of all, let's be clear that this projector is made for business use. However, I personally bought it for home theater use. Why? Because the reviews online were fantastic, and it was one of the best ones at its price point. So let me review this from a home theater perspective. Setup and adjustment is very easy. I highly recommend purchasing a projector screen to get the best quality picture out of it. The brightness is fairly decent even in a regularly lit room, but it really shines with the lights off. Couple this with a screen and home theater sound system, and you'll feel like you're at the movies! The only downside is that it's a 4:3 projector instead of a 16:9 widescreen, but for me, that's ok. The biggest advantage is its price point. Additionally, most lamps run 2000 hours, but this one has a life of 3000-4000 hours, plus the replacement lamp cost is under $200, unlike others where it costs $300-400. In short, if you're on a budget, this is a great projector for the price. If you want to go all out, get a new HD widescreen one, but for most people this will do great!

5 Star Review Wonderful projector

Strengths:

Low price, great picture quality and size, size/weight, long lamp life, low lamp cost, ease of use, mobility, ceiling or table-top mounting.

Weaknesses:

Not so great internal sound, focusing on-screen words can be slightly difficult at large size without a screen (projecting on a white wall)

Posted Apr 9, 2008 - For anyone on a budget, this is an awesome projector. Not only is it aesthetically attractive, but it's picture quality is very nice. My main use for this projector is home theater and console gaming. Plug in your favorite gaming console and it really makes the games come to life. It turns your DVD player into an actual cinematic experience with the right home theater sound system. I am also a college professor and use this projector in my classes for presentations and films while attached to my laptop and, once again, I am very pleased with it. It is very portable and comes with a soft bag for transporting. I highly recommend this projector for virtually any use.

5 Star Review Wow, a very nice electronics.

Strengths:

The screen size, quality of the picture.

Weaknesses:

No HD, DVI, high cost of frequently replacement lamp.

Posted Sep 16, 2007 - This is a lovely machine. Despite its mobility, it is capable of producing a very clear image on a screen big enough for any room. The quality of the picture is good for a basic resolution this unit has. The support of the multy system TV as well as warranty service covering a good chunk of the world makes it easy for travelers.

5 Star Review Excellent for Presentation Use

Strengths:

Very small and light weight. Very good picture quality.

Weaknesses:

Poor internal speaker

Posted 1 year ago - My wife does consulting work and often does mobile presentions. She bought this to hook up to her laptop computer to show Power Point Presentions and show DVDs. She uses it just like a Theater projector in a Classroom setting. It does require a set of amplified external speakers for the Audio output. $399 is a great price! The lowest price was $550 just (1) year ago when she bought hers. Highly recommend this projector!

5 Star Review Epson Powerlite S5 LCD Projector

Strengths:

Great Quality pictures

Weaknesses:

Until now, nothing!

Posted 1 year ago - Brightness is good, but as with most projectors in this price range, you should have a partially darkened room. Yes, there are a zillion adjustments you can make in its Setup Menu, but only if you want to optimize. The projector performs very well right out of the box. All things considered, the Powerlite S5 is the best in home theatre; you will not regret your purchase.
