Posted Aug 8, 2002 - First of all, you do not need to pay a fee for a monthly subscription of any sort to gain access to Sony's online community. Though some people may need to purchase some PC networking devices and have a ready connection to the Internet, it's all free after you have the Network Adapter. Sony will even send you a FREE online game (Twisted Metal: Black Online) to play after filling out a registration card. Though Microsoft has their stuff together with their superior online community, X-Box Live!, you will have to pay $10 each month to stay subscribed to X-Box Live!, but the first year is free. But with games for the PS2 soon to arrive like SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALS and Final Fantasy XI to play online, what would you do without the Network Adapter? I highly recommend this product to ANYONE who is looking forward to online gaming. This is definetly a must-have five star product. See you online.

Great games and easy to connect.I would reccomend buying one because it is inexpensive and fun to use.I have a cable modem and it never lags for me.If you have a cable connection you should get an Adaptor, its a great gift.

Posted Aug 27, 2002 - If you own a PS2, then the adapter is a must have. Now you can play all your favorite game with your buddies and you don't even have to move. When the hard drive comes out it will be a complete system. I am very proud to own a PS2.

Posted Feb 24, 2003 - This device takes your gaming to a whole new level in fun and competitiveness. You can test your skills world wide with Dial-Up connection or ETHERNET internet connections. XBOX live has a downfall which is that you can only have a ETHERNET connection to play with. Don't think Dial-Up limits speed of game play, it doesn't. Almost Similar that of ETHERNET connections while playing online.Hoping for more games to come out for the PS2 online, in fact by summer there should be 7 new titles.Playstation servers are top notched, no downfall to servers so gaming is fast and smooth 24/7.The best game for users is Tony Hawk 4, you can play agianst 7 other people around the world on Dial-Up Connection or ETHERNET. Wait.....one downfall to this, but a very very small one, you cannot play SOCOM: Navy Seals Online, ETHERNET only, but oh well...alot more games to choose from.Enjoy, when you purchase this, it's like having a new life given to you!

Posted Sep 13, 2002 - I own all three consoles, and plan on taking all of them online. I feel as though I have a unique perspective on this issue, and I think a LOT of you are clouded by blind fanboyism to approach this device objectively. This device works very well. It does exactly what it says it will do. It works with my University DSL. I'm very happy with it. For those of you who continually bash xbox live, I think you at least need to fully understand both deals, because a lot of you are painfully misguided. 1. Sony: Must purchase broadband/narrowband connector ($50), but you get Twiste Metal Online for free. Must pay for access to certain games. Other games may be free, but the responsibility of running the servers is on the individual game companies, NOT Sony. 2. Microsoft: Must purchase 1/year (play any Xbox Live game with no additional costs for 12 months) of Xbox Live ($50). Comes with voice communicator, ReVolt (racing game). Microsoft has not released what will be the the fee AFTER the initial $50 startup, but it is commonly accepted that it will be some sort of monthly fee with regular services and enhanced services (which will cost more). I personally wish Sony had gone with an approach more similar to xbox live. I do not want to have to pay separate bills to different game companies to play all the different games I will have. With as many games as I will play, a flat fee would have been much better. For me, that is.

Posted Dec 10, 2002 - This is for the xbox suckers. PS2 is so much better. My friend has xbox andhe was playing on live and he got sent some huge error and he cant even turn the thing on any more. He told me he wished he got PS2. Microsoft makes u pay a subscribtion. SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE GAY FOR CONSOLES. Who would pay periodically for sumthing that was already upwards of $300. Ill tell u --an xbox user--. Sony made this adapter do what its sumposed to do; let u play ONLINE with ur friends. If u go to target there are these sections PS2-----PS2-----PS2-----PS-----GBA------Gamecube-----xbox there are 3 times more PS2 games and there better. Xbox may have 1 or 2 good games lke Halo but thats getting old. U.S. SOCOM beats Halo and SOCOM is online. Twisted Metal:Black is one of the coolest games ever and then to make it even better THEY MAKE IT ONLINE. Sony has got there work cut out for them. Sony has been in the game since 96 and this is microsofts first. Its like their guienny pig. Microsoft more focused on compters not gaming consoles. P.S. THE xbox LOOKS FUNNY ,

Posted Aug 25, 2002 - PS 2 is a good system and so is Xbox but if you want online gaming just play computer games. I do feel more comfortable with the console controller but online computer games are good 2. They even got a free game called america's army using the unreal 2003 gfx engine and its not bad. Ok you guys be like i like my tv is big to view games , gfx cards cost cash and using mouse and keyboard is stupid but hey it will always be free. I agree with you guys console online gaming is off the hook but remember gaming aint cheap I got Xbox, Gamecube, PS 2 and a gaming PC and i buy like 10 games a month thats like 500 bucks a month on games and adding a monthly fee to play console games screw that and dont forget that 45 bucks for my cable isp and they want more cash i wish they allowed PS 2 and Xbox serving with a PC so we can serve our selves. Oh well next thing im waiting for is gamecube to come out with its modem i cant wait for that.

I made a pre-order because i couldn't get it at the store i cant wait to get it i think that this is much better than the xbox live. I have been doing a lot of research and the ps2 it much better than xbox the only thing is that ps2 doesn't have a hard drive. They say is coming out soon Cant wait until the hard drive comes out.

Posted Apr 17, 2003 - OK!!! this is to all the damn XBox live slaves. you say ps2 is crap If it is then y do u have to pay for XBox live and not for ps2 except for the damn adapter. there may be some things better than the adapter like the mic thats kool no matter what game ur playin so i give 1 pt. for that and the graphics may be better so ill give another pt. thats 2 pts. and ps2 have so many i cant even count on 5 hands and toes. So peace out and long live ps2 players

Posted Dec 20, 2002 - I know little about the PS2, because I was not like any other people who play all kind of games. I only like fighting game and role playing games such as Street Fighter and Final Fantasy series. Can't wait for FFXI to come out. Although I haven't purchase the network adapter yet, but will be today, lol.....:) Too bad that diable II doesn't come out for this platform. I play it on my pc and it's my favorite pc game, oh yeah with the expansion pack, it rock......and yeah, for those who have difficulty with your network adapter, continue read on.... Those who have use neither school network or dial up, I personally prefer network because it works very well if you use router atleast that's what i think. It's because router automatically detect your IP address in the network adapter and it will assign one to it. I have AT&T Broadband with a router and the router do all the work for me if I plug in a new network device. I don't use dial up so i don't know how fast your game will run but all i know is that it's much slower than the network. If you have problem like when you plug in the ethernet cable into your ps2 network adapter and it don't work. It's because you haven't configure the connection in the adapter to auto detect. If you go into the network property and set the connection to auto detect then your ps2 will have contact with your network hub or whatever you're using. For that, you'll be online in no time.

Posted May 18, 2003 - okay, there is one problem with everyone writing reviews here who says I should buy XBox Live! This is for the PS2 Network Adapter! What if I want to play games online on my PS2? Can I plug XBox live into my PS2?!?! If anyone figures out how to do this, let me know, I'd be very interested in hearing it. I like XBox, I've had a lot of fun playing it, but please, all you fanboys can go over to the XBox Live product and post reviews there where they belong! If you want to bash the PS2 or XBox or any other console, go back from whence you came to the gamer forums. It seems you fanboys like to hang out there. Oh, I'd like to point out two things. Sony is not an evil empire, people buy PS2 because they like the games. So what if the hardware is slower? Does pretty graphics alone make a good game? No, I still love to play Mario 3, and that's and 8-bit game! Somebody shoot me! Second, to all you PS2 fanboys, Bill Gates is not the devil. I personally hate Microsoft, but it surprised me an a lot of other people and delivered a good console that's more stable than Windows (thank God). I personally prefer PS2, but that's because I enjoy the better selection of games that comes with the larger user base. The fact of the matter is, PS2 has sold much more units than XBox. I'm not saying that it's the way it should be, but simply because of this fact, more developers are willing to make games for it, since there are more potential buyers. The main reason I purchased a PS2 is for Gran Turismo

Posted Dec 15, 2002 - hear me out (it may be a little off subject) this is written solely from opinion and not experience, because i have never played online with the ps2 network adapter. so far it seems that most reviews have something to do with pricing dilemmas. a lot of argument on that. i, along with many other people, have a much simpler solution. if you have ever built a PC you understand where im coming from. you pay for what you get, and the variety is almost unlimited as far as hardware companies and devices. when you buy a console, you cant expand its possibilities past a certain extent. you can buy a hard drive, some more games, and a network adapter, but thats about it, other than a few peripherals. WAKE UP FOLKS. YOU CAN BUY A KEYBOARD AND MOUSE FOR PS2. if anybody ever played a game online with their pc, and compared it to online gaming with a ps2 controller, they realize there are much more possibliities with first person shooters (and much more precise aiming) with a mouse and keyboard compared to a controller. as far as other games, do what you will. you can always buy a conroller for PC (there is a MUCH larger variety too folks). what im saying is, consoles and PC's are merging quickly, and the result is easily predicted. add a hard drive...add a keyboard...add a network adapter pretty soon, you have a PC. its called a sony computer entertainment system for a reason you know. build a gaming machine and get broadband, you can ALWAYS upgrade a PC. hey, its worth it.

Posted Dec 15, 2002 - This forum is living proof that there are a lot of 12 year old children (based on the spelling and grammatical errors) with both computer access and opinions but little else. To summarize the product reviews thus far: X-box people suck, or PS2 people suck... depending on which unit the author knows the least about. Subscriptions are gay, or cheaper than paying individual servers... depending on which method the author (or probably his/her mommy) is paying for. PS2 people are slaves; michaelgabrielsen is dumb, is a silly little twit, and has apparently been smoking something; PS2 rocks; Xbox live sux, etc. There you have it... don't you feel a lot more enlightened now?
