5 Star Review Guitar Hero II Rocks

Strengths:

Easy to learn, tutorial, sponsorships

Weaknesses:

Only rock songs - wouldn't mind having a wider variety of songs

Posted Mar 31, 2007 - I have never played a guitar in my life, but the tutorial made it very easy to get started and now I am hooked! Great to play alone or with a group.

4 Star Review Guitar Hero 2 bundle

Strengths:

Lots of songs

Weaknesses:

no downloadable content

Posted Apr 21, 2007 - Guitar Hero 2 is an extremely fun and addicting game to play. There are quite a few very good tracks mixed in with some not so well known songs. It has added quite a few new features from the 1st guitar hero game. GH2 is pretty easy to get used to especially if you are already familiar with Guitar hero. I wish the PS2 version offered online downloadable content. I would of waited to purchase Guitar Hero 2 for the Xbox 360 for the downloadable content but I got a super great deal on GH2 w/guitar for $28.00 dollars so I couldn't pass it up even without the ability to download new songs.

4 Star Review Great Fun for the Entire Family (ages 10+)

Strengths:

Tutorial, Practice Mode, Easy - Expert Level

Weaknesses:

Some bleeped out cuss words, limited song styles (era)

Posted Dec 27, 2006 - I bought this for my 10 year old son for Christmas. None of us have any kind of musical background. We turned it on and went right into the tutorial mode and I found it very easy to get the basics. He thought it was cool that his Mom could rock out to "Shout at the Devil" and get high score on 'easy' mode within a few minutes. My husband tried it and couldn't get the hang of it and gave up after a few tries. I guess those guitar lessons I had for a few weeks some 25 years ago helped out. We tried the Medium level and let's just say, it wasn't too pretty. It will take some more practice but my son will have it figured out in no time. I was surprised how easily he caught on. There are a few things I was surprised about. The first being the bleeped out cuss words. Not a big deal for our family because we have a 10 year old and I'm sure he's heard a lot worse than this at school....but it took me by surprise. I'm sure some parents will be a bit put off by this. The other is the limited song style. I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that we haven't unlocked the other songs yet. So hopefully we get to play some other kinds of music. All in all...we love this item.

5 Star Review GH2

Strengths:

Gameplay, practice mode, vs mode, multiplayer

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Apr 12, 2007 - This is the best music game ever on the PS2. If you played the first Guitar Hero, you will definitely like this sequel. It contains great music and comes with even more songs than the first Guitar Hero game. Pick this game up before Guitar Hero 3 comes out.

5 Star Review Review for Guitar Hero II with Guitar

Strengths:

Gameplay and challenge.

Weaknesses:

None that I can thinkof.

Posted Mar 5, 2007 - Guitar Hero II is really enjoyable for all ages. It really gives them a challenge and trains in hand to eye coordination. I would invite others to purchase this game.

5 Star Review guitar hero

Strengths:

Awesome controller, awesome songs

Weaknesses:

Nothing really

Posted Jul 30, 2007 - This is one of the best games to be released in the past year or so. Harmonix was able to better themselves with the sequel to the original GH. They redesigned the controller to make it more responsive (and you can tell) and added some new multiplayer modes to make the playing field either more balanced or exactly the same, depending on who you were playing with. The songs still deliver, and theres more than before. This is a game you can come back to over and over again. Don't forget to break it out during parties!

5 Star Review Great sequel to a great game

Strengths:

More songs, better multiplayer experience than the first game, which was great to begin with.

Weaknesses:

A couple weak songs and some covers that are not as good as others.

Posted Jun 5, 2007 - This is really a perfect sequel to the great original Guitar Hero. There are more songs, many of them very good or great. The two player experience is much better as there is now co-op play with one person playing lead and the other playing bass or rhythm. The competitive play is better as well with the introduction of pro-face off mode. The guitar controller feels the same as the original but might be slightly quieter. Overall it is a great product and definitely worth a purchase.

Strengths:

Excellent Game Play

Weaknesses:

Bad Song Choices

4 Star Review Great Sequel to Awesome Game

Strengths:

Harder than first, more options and features, practice mode, red guitar, very fun

Weaknesses:

Song selection could be more diverse, only 2-player game, graphics never been amazing

Posted May 14, 2007 - I just got Guitar Hero 2 and it is just as fun if not funner than the first. They made some necessary changes and additions to this game. One of the best additions is the ability in multi-player for each player to choose their own difficulty. Practice mode is also a great addition. The game is also noticeably harder than the first. I was struggling on some songs songs on Expert from the first two batches. In the first GH, I was able to cruise through most of the songs on Expert minus the last 5 or so. As for the song list, it appears that most of the songs are "older". There also seems to be more metal. I wish it could have been more diverse and had some more recent songs. Overall, this is a great game and one of the best party games ever.
