One year has passed since Jak and Daxter saved Haven City from Kor and the attacking Metal Heads, yet Haven City is still immersed in deadly chaos as three groups fight for control of the streets. The people of Haven City have grown to distrust Jak's dark powers, and as rumors boil of Jak's ties with Krew and Kor, the city blames Jak for its current woeful circumstances. When the palace is destroyed by a surprise Metal Head attack, even Ashelin cannot protect Jak as the High Council's power broker, Count Veger, forces Jak into banishment to the desolate Wasteland. Jak is flown to the harsh island and dumped. With Daxter and Pecker bravely by his side, the three begin their next adventure where the battle for the city has just begun. minimize

Strengths:

good action, story, characters, graphics

Weaknesses:

too many driving missions

Posted Jun 26, 2005 - the Jak series took a pretty dramatic shift with Jak 2 with its focus on guns and vehicles. Jak 3 sticks with this formula and produces really good results. the gameplay is pretty much identical to jak 2 in regards to the action, you even use the same guns. one of my biggest complaints about jak 2 was that the missions got to be very frustrating at times. having to replay the same mission over and over from the beginning because you can't quite make an nearly impossible jump got old really fast. I must not have been the only one that thought this because in jak 3 the missions have many more checkpoints to prevent this from happening. they've added "light jak" powers in this installment, but aside from the health restoring one they aren't very useful. i still didn't use the dark/light powers much as you can make it through the game pretty easily with the guns alone. a big part of jak 3 are the new vehicle racing/combat missions. these are fun, but tend to get used way too often for missions. there's only so many times you can do a checkpoint race before it gets boring, whether it's in a car, on a jetboard, or on back of a lizard. the rest of the graphics and gameplay seem to have been lifted directly from jak2, but that's not a bad thing. it still looks great and the new desert setting gets jak out of the city for a nice change of scenery. overall it's a great addition to the jak series that any fan will definitely enjoy.

5 Star Review Jak 3 review

Strengths:

-Awesome graphics -Awesome gameplay -rocking soundtrack

Weaknesses:

-none

Posted Jan 3, 2006 - One of the classic series on the PS2, Jak 3 delivers a punch just like the last two games. It is the end of the trilogy(but not the Jak games), so unless you want to be lost during the story, you should have played Jak 1 and 2 beforehand. Fans of the series will definitely love Jak 3. There are only improvements to graphics and gameplay, nothing detracts from the experience of before. I was a big fan of the vehicles that Jak can commandeer. The hang gliding was awesome. Seriously, if you own a PS2, there is no reason NOT to own this trilogy. The games are all Greatest Hits now - and with all those regular 2 for $25 or 2 for $30 sales on GH games, you can get the whole set cheaper than a new release. And i guarantee the trilogy can compete in quality and fun to any game that comes out. Highly Recommended!

4 Star Review Jak 3

Strengths:

Graphics, sound effects, humorous, solid game play and controls

Weaknesses:

Very similar to Jak 2

Posted Nov 11, 2005 - Jak III essentially is an updated version of Jak 2. It features many of the same graphics, sound effects, and controls of its predecessor. This is not necessarily a very bad thing, as Jak 2 is also a great game. My favorite part of this game (and the series in general) is the humor, which is top notch and I think very well done. The game play and controls are both solid as well as the graphics and sound effects. A few things that are new to this game are the new light Jak powers that are obtained that give defensive and healing powers to the hero. Another new addition is the vehicle missions, in which you will pilot a dune buggy, hang glider, and others. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game and I would recommend it.

3 Star Review Best of the Jak & Daxter series

Strengths:

good graphics, fun gameplay,

Weaknesses:

can be a little too challenging at points

Posted Oct 4, 2005 - I have played all three Jax & Daxter games and this is the best of the bunch. I have also played all three Ratchet and Clank games, and I think all the R&C games are a little better than the Jak series. Jak is a little "darker" in this game, not the happy-go-lucky fellow he was in the first game. Jak is banished to the "Wastelands" and he and Daxter are trying to get out. In Jak 3, Jak wields all sorts of weapons. (In Jak 1, he really didn't have weapons and in Jak 2 he had limited weapons.) He also gets to drive dune buggies in the desert. The graphics and sounds are top notch and gameplay is good. Some of the monsters can be difficult to kill and that can be a little frustrating. Some trial and error is necessary. Overall, the games is a lot of fun and ends a great series on the PS2. I would recommend the game.

5 Star Review culmination of the series

Strengths:

series finale, great gameplay

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Sep 22, 2005 - This is a great game to finish off the Jak trilogy. Everything well done and polished and the gameplay is great. The dune buggys handle great, although they can get a little tedious, but it is a lot of fun to explore on them. There are typical platformer type activities too, but the game does a good job of mixing everything up into one great overall game with an interesting plot. Definitely worth a buy.

Weaknesses:

Posted Mar 16, 2005 - As the end of the epic Jak trilogy ends in this game, I thought the game would be harder than Jak 2 but I beat the game in one night. It was fun but I'd prefer Jak 2 better. Still this is a must buy

5 Star Review Jak 3 (PS2)

Strengths:

Great graphics and sound, great action, nice end to the Jak series

Weaknesses:

Need to play the first to go get all the backstory

Posted Jul 25, 2005 - Jak 3 is the end of the Jak & Daxter trilogy. It follows the storyline of the first two games very closely, so for those that haven't played the first two games, it's highly recommended to do so (and they're both GH titles now, so they're cheap). The graphics look great and it sounds great, and the action lives up to the look & feel, with platforming, shooting and driving sequences. It finishes out the trilogy with a great ending. Overall, J&D fans should get it without question, newcomers should start with the first two and work up to this one.

Posted Dec 5, 2005 - JAK 3 concludes the Jak and Daxter trilogy it takes place a year after they saved Haven City. You begin in Wasteland which is a desert environment and 5 times as big as Haven City. Jak has lots of vehicles and new weapons at his disposal.

4 Star Review Jak 3

Strengths:

Great game, if you love platformers get this game!

Weaknesses:

Better to play the first two before venturing into this one.

Posted Aug 30, 2005 - The game itself was something new for me, I never played the first two. But I did get my hands on this one. Even though playing the first two would of helped, you don't need them to still have a great time with this game. I love the graphics and the gameplay. The lvls are done very well and the envirorment is done well.

4 Star Review Jak III

Strengths:

Long story, great variety of missions

Weaknesses:

Series getting a little repetetive

Posted Nov 9, 2005 - I just recently got my PS2 and have been catching up on all the classic series on that console. One of the first games I played was Jak & Daxter. I got through that and, though the graphics gave me headaches compared to the Gamecube games I was used to, my son and I had a lot of fun with it. We then started Jak II and got about halfway through before getting bored with the repetitive missions. Jak III is easily the best of the bunch though. The graphics are much improved (including progressive scan and widescreen), and the missions include all the types from the first games plus a few new ones. We are about halfway through this game and it has seemed to progress much faster than Jak II, which is nice. We got a little bored wondering around the town in Jak II all the time and was a little disappointed to see the town (Haven) return later in Jak III, but so far it has been a fairly small portion of the gameplay. The big addition to the series is the set of dune buggy-like cars that you drive around the desert in various missions (races, collect-a-thons, hunts, combat with other vehicles). All of those mission types combined with the more standard Jak fare (jetboarding, shooting missions, platforming, etc) makes Jak III a varied game that keeps itself more interesting than Jak II did. The series has also become very polished - the graphics, voice work, menus, etc, are all very well done and have no glitches that we can see. However, the Jak series has gotten a little tiring, even with the new mission types. It is good that they have gone away from the core game with the latest entry (Jak X Combat Racing). But the core play is good enough that I am still looking forward to the PSP entry (Daxter).

5 Star Review Great game

Strengths:

+sharp graphics

Weaknesses:

-has really strayed from its platforming roots

Posted Nov 3, 2005 - Jak 3 is a great game and completes the Jak & Daxter series. This is part three so it's best to start with the earlier games to get the complete story. The only weakness is that most of the game takes place in the desert so the environments aren't as varied as the previous games.

5 Star Review Platforming For The Gamers

Strengths:

Story, Instant Loading After Dying, Good Variety of Gameplay

Weaknesses:

Nothing

Posted Oct 24, 2005 - Jak 3 is a platformer by Naughty Dog who also created and made the first 3 Crash Bandicoot games on Playstation. This is the third game in the Jak series on the Playstation 2 and probably the best overall of the 3. Jak 3 is an action platformer which is platforming at it's heart but also does a good job of mixing in other gameplay elements to the game to keep it from getting stale as you play though it and in my opinion the execution of doing this so well is what makes Jak 3 good. Jak 3 has a good dose of variety has it offers racing, platforming & shooting at times as you play though missions and on top of this has a good story to go along with all the top notch gameplay. You also have a healthy amount of secrets to unlock as you play though Jak 3 as different items that you collect thoughout the game need to be used to get another kind of currency to which you can spend to unlock secrets. I would recommend Jak 3 to anyone that enjoyed the first two games, likes 3D platformers or just likes games in general as anyone who likes to play games can't go wrong with Jak 3!
