5 Star ReviewSnake Eater is easily the best MGS game yet. Cool ...

Strengths:

graphics, gameplay, replay factor, story

Weaknesses:

camera can be troubling, kinda easy

Posted May 22, 2005 - Snake Eater is easily the best MGS game yet. Cool character design, unique boss battles and a comprehensible story (i'm looking at you MGS2!!!) lead to a very enjoyable stealth action game. It is primarily a stealth game, so if you're not a fan of other MGS or splinter cell type games than this one isn't going to change your mind. I ended up getting spotted and having to blast my way out of most scenarios, but it's clear that better sneaking would have made things a bit easier. The graphics are amazing, even better than a lot of xbox games, and the voice acting is excellent as well. Tons of secrets to uncover and items to unlock give this one a whole lot of replayability as well. The three new features to the game, the "healing" system, stamina and camo, are a mixed bag. Healing and stamina don't add a whole lot. They are more of a hindrance as you have to keep track of them but they won't change the way you play the game. The camo system is cool but can be a pain switching back and forth often. A great purchase, especially now that the price seems to be dropping. Any MGS or stealth action fan can't go wrong.

5 Star Review One of 2004's best: Metal Gear Solid 3

Strengths:

Natural jungle environments, brilliant use of gadgetry, memorable characters and situations

Weaknesses:

None.

Posted Sep 4, 2005 - After the largely disappointing Metal Gear Solid 2, which had a confusing storyline and raised more questions than it answered, Hideo Kojima and his team at Konami Japan hit the nail on the head with Metal Gear Solid 3. The game is set in the 1960's and explains much of the backstory to the original games in the series. The majority of the game takes place in an outdoors, jungle environment, leaving the player to make use of different styles of camoflauge, gadgetry, and medicine to survive. MGS3 has a wonderful cast of characters that nearly match the coolness of those in Metal Gear Solid.

5 Star Review MGS3 is a must have!!!

Strengths:

Graphics, gameplay, storyline, sound

Weaknesses:

camera, controls, learning curve

Posted Jul 27, 2005 - This is much better then MGS2. The storyline is great, to go back in time to learn more of Snake's history. The graphics are top notch for the PS2, on par with the Xbox. The sound is as good as it gets for a video game. My biggest complaint is the learning curve is steep for newbies to the game. The controls are tough to get comfortable with, but the goes along with the learning curve.

5 Star Review Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2)

Strengths:

Amazing graphics and sound, great stealth gameplay, extremely challenging, well-done story

Weaknesses:

Long load times

Posted Jul 25, 2005 - MGS3:SE is the third Metal Gear Solid game, and it's the best in the series, so far. It's set in the 1960's Russia, searching for missing nuclear weapons. The story is a great espionage action tale, well written with numerous plots turns as the games progresses. The game looks great and sounds great, with amazing graphics and sound, though there's the occasional long load times that happen. The action is done very well, and keeps you on your toes to hide out and keep an eye out for enemy troops. Realistic bits such as self-administered first aid and hunting for food help make the game a great experience. Action stealth fans, as well as MGS fans, should get this game without question.

Strengths:

Graphics, sound, gameplay, and voice acting.

Weaknesses:

Maybe too tedious for some and bad camera.

Posted Jul 6, 2005 - Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is a stealth action game for PS2. You play as Snake through a outside setting this time around. This changes gameplay a bit and requires a lot more stealth than usual. This makes the game harder and might turn off some. The graphics, sound, and voice acting are all superb in this game and not much on the PS2 can beat it graphically even now. Fixed camera angles can be a problem at times. Give the game 5 stars if you love Metal Gear Solid games or are just looking for a great stealth action game.

Strengths:

Excellent game setting, great graphics/sound, great story.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes camera seems akward.

Posted Jun 16, 2005 - The metal gear series continues it's excellence with this title. Great graphics and sound, definitely top notch work. Story plays out nicely and the new setting works very well. What else can you expect from this series though. If you liked the other MGS games or just like games in general you should own this game.

5 Star ReviewMetal Gear Solid is a must-buy if you own a Playst ...

Strengths:

Some of the best graphics on the PS2, intense gameplay, deep storyline, creative characters and innovative/tough boss battles.

Weaknesses:

Confusing storyline

Posted Jun 7, 2005 - Metal Gear Solid is a must-buy if you own a Playstation 2. It is one of the flagship titles for this console and there is a good reason why. The graphics keep on improving as the newer Metal Gear games are released and this puts all the other PS2 games to shame. The storyline is very deep and gives you the history behind all the Metal Gear games. The gameplay is very intuitive because you have to use camoflouge to hide in the shadows. This comes in handy if you want to sneak by an enemy or sneak up on him. It adds a new gameplay style to the already-awesome series. The bosses in this game are outstanding. Each one is unique and must be defeated in a different way. If they are too tough, you can always play the game on a different skill level. This game is well worth the money because it will provide you with many hours of gameplay. Overall, this is just a fantastic game and should be in everybody's video gaming library along with the rest of the series.

Posted Jan 6, 2005 - Your name is Snake and you are doing a steath mission to find Sokolov a person who made weapons of mass destruction and the country who has them is Russia and it is during the cold war(in the 1960's). It is up to you and only you to save Sokolov and stop Russia. This game is a must buy.

Strengths:

Graphics, gameplay

Weaknesses:

A bad camera system

Posted Mar 12, 2005 - As with pretty much every MGS game out there, this one has managed to be an awesome game. The graphics, as would be expected, are a phenomenal accomplishment. The sound is also very good with it's excellent soundtrack that creates tension and some of the most fitting gunshot sounds ever in a game. The gameplay itself is brilliant as it places Snake, the main character, in the jungle where it's a game of survival. This concept actually turns out to be pretty original and it works really well. And yes, the action is there in spades -- the player has more opportunities than ever to get into gunfights and shootouts. The only real weakness with the game is the camera system which can get in the way at times, but it's usually not too much of a problem. Overall, the game is fantastic and can be recommended to anyone.

5 Star Review Best. Snake. Ever.

Strengths:

Playstation 2 GAME OF THE YEAR 2004

Weaknesses:

NONE

Posted Jul 12, 2005 - Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater is pretty close to being a perfect game. It has all the qualities you look for in a good game. Everything from the graphics to the sound is presented at such a high level. The graphics in this game are some of the best seen on the PS2. The jungle and forest settings are beautiful. The character designs are some of the best in the series. Audio is top notch in this game. Characters deliver their lines with passion and emotion unlike some games. The story is also top notch. Gameplay-wise, the game has not really been changed from the original Metal Gear Solid so if you didn't like the game then, you still won't like it. Everything about this game screams triple A title. This is Hideo Kojima's masterpiece, even surpassing the original. The bottom line is if you own a Playstation 2, you owe it to yourself to experience this game. It is perhaps the best game for the system. A++

5 Star Review Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Strengths:

+Awesome Fun Game +Lots of Comedy +Many Hidden Secrets +Lots of Stealth and Action +Great Story line +Great Voice actors +Superb Camo uniforms +Good Music

Weaknesses:

-Too short of a game -Need to be stealth a lot to get great secrets -Network Adaptor needed to get great camos -Game seems very frustration at some points -Need to pay attention to story line

Posted Jul 12, 2005 - This game is really great! The game has everything in it to make it fun, comedy, music, and lots of action. The stealth you play in this game is great. This game has tons of secrets like if you hold R1 during the cutscenes sometimes you can see diffrent things! The worst things about this game is that you need an network adaptor to get some of the best camo and that the game is really too short. The game is mostly about stealth and speed. For exapmle to get the best ranking (foxhound) you need to... No Special Item used, 0 Alerts, Under 10 Life Bars of Damage, 0 Kills, 0 Life Meds, Under 5:00 play time, under 25 saves, 0 continues, only on Extreme mode. But other than that the game has good storyline, and one of the best. The story will "WOW" you at the end. The whole story begins to sum up. This is probably one of the greatest games ever. I would suggest you not kill a lot of people in this game ( I have beaten the game and killed 0 people!) because the road the sorrow takes you, will be a long one. The first time I beat the game, I killed 483 people. It took me 20 minutes to get down the road. This time it only took me 1 minutes because i didnt kill anyone. This game is great, fun, and awesome. You should definitly get this game.

Strengths:

Good Camoflauge Mechanics Improved Hand-to-hand combat Great Graphics

Weaknesses:

Repetitive Enviroments Annoying Healing

Posted Mar 13, 2005 - Metal Gear Solid 3 is quite a good game. The game involves sneaking through jungle enviroments (which are quite repetitive) on a "sneaking mission". The new camoflauge mechanics in the game add a lot. Also the new hand-to-hand combat system allows you to easily grab enemies and either use them as human shields, interrogate them, or kill them silently. The game is very atmospheric and the sequences (though using in-game graphics) look great and aren't too over-the-top like in The Twin Snakes. Overall the game is quite fun, but can be quite repetive and occasionaly confusing. I reccomend this game and give it a 8.5.

5 Star Review great series continued

Strengths:

fun story, great gameplay, great boss battles

Weaknesses:

camera is difficult

Posted Aug 29, 2005 - This is exactly what you'd expect from the Metal Gear series. A fantastically made game with lots of polish and an over the top, campy, yet fun plot with excellent gameplay and lots of easter eggs to find. It is funny, dramatic and captivating, challenging yet lenient, and a whole lot of fun. The only problem I have is with the camera, which is not free floating so it is hard to see things you want to see sometimes and to get the best look when you need to. Oh well, it still is a lot of fun.

5 Star Review Simply awesome

Strengths:

Beautiful graphics, touching story, awesome characters, wonderful replayability

Weaknesses:

Basically none

Posted Jul 11, 2005 - This is one of those games that is essentially perfect--the only thing to inhibit your enjoyment is if you simply don't like the genre. MGS3 is the grandest game in the MGS series. It takes place in the 1960s and is an exciting forary into a realm of espinoage, stealth, crazy villains, and tense gameplay. The locales--snowy mountains, dense jungles, industrial buildings--are simply jaw dropping in their beauty. The bosses are breath-taking in their scope (wait till you fight the boss known as the End). The gameplay is brutally challenging on harder levels, and quite playable on the easy settings. Highly recommended for ALL videogamers--there's no excuse to not appreciate this one.

Strengths:

Intense storyline, super creative gameplay, sweet twists and turns

Weaknesses:

No matter how much I love the MGS series, they always fall just a bit too short in the length for me but thats a real minor complaint

Posted Jun 22, 2005 - From the crazy/creative mind of Hideo Kojima comes another Metal Gear Solid, this has to be one of my absolute favorite franchises. Its hard to explain the experience that is playing through a MGS, its simply unreal. Its hard to play any one of them without the desire to play the others because they're all connected in one way or another. Veterans really get the upperhand here since they're treated to all the easter eggs and inside jokes and such. That shouldn't deter newcomers from giving it a go, MGS3 is pretty high up on my recommendation list.
