2 Star ReviewGalerians Ash

Posted Feb 4, 2003 - Galerians: Ash, sequel to the PS1 game Galerians, takes place almost right after the events found in the first game. The story is a poor mishmash of sci-fi clichés that draws much of its inspiration from the likes of such seminal works as Akira and The Matrix. You've got your self-aware computer that revolts against mankind; you've got humanoids with psychic abilities; and who could forget the inner struggle of discovering where true reality lies. But does the game payoff in the end with some great psychic battles and eerie atmosphere? Read our full review to find out. - Read Full Review

2 Star ReviewGalerians Ash

Posted Feb 1, 2003 - Never before have I been forced to admit how much I don't like a game that I've tried so hard to enjoy. Sure, there have been games I've looked forward to that fell short of the mark -- games that did some things right and I've put up with their flaws. But Galerians: ASH is another thing altogether. I've kept playing and hoping that the flaws would alleviate themselves; anytime the game did something remotely clever or entertaining I decided it was great -- until about five minutes later, bored and frustrated once more, I faced reality. I have to admit I'm getting ahead of myself -- but Galerians: ASH has taken its toll. - Read Full Review

4 Star ReviewGalerians: ASH

Posted Jan 21, 2003 - OK, Survival Horror to me has always involved zombies, half decayed dogs, demonic humanoids, and a hero who’s main weapon usually revolves around something which seems ineffective like a plank of wood or a hunting knife. It entails darkness, creepy noises, and some of the most shocking and frightening imagery that sometimes even hell would seem like it was outdoing itself to produce. Well, this is neat for a while, but lately there has been a flood of titles that are a little different but still revolve around the same style of monsters and settings. Sammy Studios has released a sequel to it’s sleeper PSX hit, Galerians, and the result overall is a unique blend of Blade Runner, Akira, Dragonball Z, and a Marylin Manson video which definitely stands out on its own. - Read Full Review
