I totally agree with you on the weaknesses and strenghts but the game is still good even though it is annoying when your tag partener just stands there. It is still worth buying in my oppinion. The one thing they do need to do though is make season mode longer like smackdown 2 but not the same re-runs all the time.

Thanks for agreeing but let me know when you have unlocked Ted Dibiase as I think it cant be done. You cant do that possum pin for love nor money and they never do it on you so you cant pass that challenge either, the one where you have to kick out of a possum pin. The book says one way to do the possum pin and the manuel says another. The book also says you can reverse the coffin closing but you cant so you cant pass that challenge either. I played as Eddie Guerrero (RIP Eddie thanks for the memories. Never be forgotton) against Spike and I had a stored finisher and no damage. Spike had full damage and I still couldn't reverse the door closing with an autofire control pad. Tried loads of times. The only way you can ever unlock dibiase is by downloading a fix and buying a Max Drive. Tried to use Kurt Angle (the best reverser in the game and still nothing). The game was NO WAY TESTED before they released it. I might go back to the last one. Just wanna hear Dibiases music again. Also nobody will ever steal your taunt so you cant pass that challenge either. Might be worth buying if you have a Max Drive but if they put "Need PSP to unlock Jake Roberts" on the case it wouldn't sell. The game needs recalling, repairing then re-issuing in my opinion. Please let me know if you can master the possum pin. If you have a Max Drive I will email you the save if you so wish. They are £9:99 on play.com. I will call the customer services number in the manual on Monday.

Well i have to agree with smit87, The game was not tested before hand otherwise the glitches would not be all over the place for example u wouldnt do a front moonwalk when gettin whipped into the turnbuckle..the possem pin is awful new system n not even worth puttin in...It was really worth £30 mmmmmm well i'll stil play it but the way it's been messed with..wow i wonder what sort of person tested this...somebody who really wanted to pass the buck...

Well smit, it seems you aren't very good at the game. I have been playing the smackdown games since the begining and I think it is far better. It's actually challenging. I iwll agree with you on having to buy the psp thing to unlock roberts, that is ricockulous. To give the game one star is completely stupid. I really don't think you know what you are talking about.

You give a game a great review just because you liked the graphics, that would be ignorant. I dont believe that you have followed the game since the start as you would notice all the imperfections. To agree with Peteb26, when you are irish whipped into the corner you slide there. The possum pin is cack lob as you lose your stored finisher and nothing happens and as for them doing it on you so you can kick out, good luck. More challenging? The challenges on the harder levels are easier. Reversing the casket door, read what I wrote. Dont disagree just because you love wrestling. Let me know when you get someone to steal your taunt. Stupid challenge. I am accustomed to better from THQ as I actually have followed the Smackdown series from the start. I have unlocked Jake without the use of a PSP, cost me £9:99. That's because there is a glitch in the game and it probably cant be done. At least not in the way that the manual or the onscreen instructions say so. Try doing the other stuff I stated above aswell. As I said the game wasn't tested and it doesn't work, no matter how good the graphics are. If you want to get past the challenges you will need to buy a Max Drive and download a save and put it into your memory card. You can get Jake The Snake by doing this aswell.

First of all the british Bulldog is one of the greatest legends of all time and should be in every version of the game. Dibiase is cool and you get the million dollar title with him and his music is the man. Jake is cool and on his entrance he has the snake bag over his shoulder and the music is just as it was in the day. When he gets in the ring he sits in the corner like he used to. Worth unlocking but not with a PSP. A MAX DRIVE is a mini hard drive that goes into your usb in your pc and ps2. You transfer saved games one to the other. (You have 2 usb ports in your ps2) Yes it is cheating but THQ are cheating us by making us buy a PSP to get Jake Roberts. And they haven't tested this game on release as it has too many glitches. If you can do the possum pin it is way too tricky to pull off and some of the challenges are just rare occurences you will never see. Well worth having Dibiase n Roberts.

Yea, some of the challenges are nearly impossible in single player mode. If you use 2 players or 2 controllers the challenges are much easier to complete. The possum pin is stupid and makes me laugh everytime I see the CPU do it. The Million Dollar Dream rules and makes em tap out everytime. You can also assign the MDD as a custom finisher in create-a-moveset mode. See my other review for this game from the main page.

ok so it is considered cheating to do this but they are cheating us? i thought that it wasnt THQ but it was the testers(not the makers). how the hell do you get the Million dollar dream? ok the british Bulldog is ok but i dislike him. thats because my favorite legend is Brett hart. i still think that they should put owen hart in the game even know that he isnt with us anymore.

You cant unlock challenges in 2 player as it states and when you do it doesn't unlock anything. THQ make the game so THQ are screwing us. I bet the JAP version you dont need a PSP to unlock Roberts. The worst legend is JYD, they could of put anyone better in. I reckon they should put Koko B Ware in with his parrott Frankie. Pay attention digital DUMP! YOU DONT NEED A PSP TO UNLOCK JAKE! You need a Max Drive. They are cheaper than a PSP as they cost a soppy ten pounds. By the way it wasn't Bret Harts retirement as he went to WCW. If you watch the tape he spells out WCW after he gets screwed. It's the only way he would drop the title as he expected everybody else to drop the title for him but when it was his turn he just kept threatening to take his ball home. He was saying things like "well look what WCW are offering me". So to protect the buusiness that's how the title needed to change hands. I used to love Bret and I respected his ability but what a silver spoon job. And Vince did beat him up in a car park. Bret screwed himself by biting the hand that fed him.

No, you can use it. The move is called the cobra clutch. Look for that. You dont need to unlock anything to use it

Look all i'm saying is I made myself ages ago and game myself the million dollar dream and they have tapped EVERY time. You must just not be very fast at pressing the button or timing when to press it.

Ok i've played this game and i've completed every challenge without a problem, just hook up two controllers and play every challenge with two player, this makes it much easier. As far as you idiots that say this game wasn't tested, just because you can't complete the challenge doesn't mean its impossible. I am pissed at the fact that you need the psp version to get Jake the snake. not everybody owns a psp You ****ed up there THQ.

i have completed the superstar challages and have unlocked the wrestlemania arena and legand steel cage but the million dollar man is still locked how is that possible i have tryed every thing smome one please help me

In SmVRaw 2006 theres 2 much reversing and i take the game to my mates house right and he just dose the same move over and over again it pisses me off and i can never hit him with a finisher because i have to pick him up first do do it but he always reverses because my finishers were the last ride and cyclone 2 but i changed the cyclone 2 spear so i should b able to beat him now.

HEY Ksmith 87 i tryed the cora clutch or(MMD) it took me 3 times and then thay taped its a good move i'll admit that but but i have to agrie it's preety slow so it takes awile but it gets the job done. I think HCTP is the best Smackdown game yet it has a good story line it goes for a bit and its got preety good graphics i didn't play all the smack down games in order because i only got into wrestling 2 years ago and i didnt play them in order but now i've played them all and i recon they do need to go back to the drawing bord and improve the next game by heaps.

BJMcDonald & Hot_Rod: Yes, you have to start with Rising Star Challenges then Amateur then Superstar then Legend Challenges. After you complete ALL the Challenges, the game should unlock Ted DiBiase allowing you to purchase him in the WWE Shop (Locker Room). Hint: Use TWO CONTROLLERS to complete the Challenges. BJMcDonald, if the AI reversing is too much then adjust the reverse rates in the OPTIONS menu.

JinxG2: The casket finisher can be performed by ANY wrestler, even a CAS wrestler. To perform the casket finisher, store a finisher then gain full momentum then irish whip the opponent against the front center of the casket then tap L1 when the opponent is sitting on the ground with back to the casket. If the opponent won't sit down when irish whipped, you need to kick his @ss some more. So...Store finisher, gain full momentum, irish whip to front of casket, tap L1.

Also, Jinx, check out my latest post in my review thread for this game. The post will (somewhat) explain how to perform a Possum Pin.

You guys don't know much about this game do you? i have beat it many times. I have beat everything, I have unlocked everything well except for Jake the snake. i don't have a psp lol. but my point is you can beat the challenges with 2 players i have.

thats how i did most of the challenges. was by using 2 players and it took me a day

anyway this is old now so go on smackdown vs raw 2007 now thats new.

to do a possum pin while laying on the mat hold down circle and tap r2 if opponent is attacking if opponent grabs tap r2 while holding circle.when using the psp to do a possum hold circle and tap r1

The guy obviously never played it. I have followed the game since smackdown 1 on the ps1 and this new game allthough it has all the bells n whistles has shoddy annoying gameplay and the artificial intelligence is pathetic. It's fantastic when the cpu is against you but when they are controlling your tag partner forget about it. They deliberately make your tag partner retarded. This wouldn't be so bad if it was the way they controlled it all the time but you get made a fool of. Harder? No. Just pathetic. I loved all the releases exept this one. Go back and start again THQ!

Please can you let me know when you have played it a little longer as I noticed a few glitches that upset me in the game and stop me getting where I need to be without cheating eg reversing casket door, possum pin, irish whip to corner, ai of your tag partner but not theirs, unlocking Jake, over reversing when unsuitable and some others. I can tell you how to obtain Jake without buying a psp but you shouldn't need to. Re-review it when you have played it more.

once again smit has it spot on....i don't think goldberg4ever has played this game too much as he proberbly hasnt noticed the glitches...when u've played the game more u will notice that the game is not that great

Ok, you got me there. I'm a WWE fan and I enjoy all kinds of wrestling/fighting type games so I'm sort of biased. I guess 4.5 Stars is more like it. I've played the game for almost 15 days so I checked alot of the stuff out.

Yes. Yes. The Possum pin challenge is a real pain in the arse but it can be done much easier with TWO players or just two controllers. Same for the interrupt stolen taunt. Have CLEAN P1 stand beside CLEAN P2, P2 steals (P1's) taunt by having a stored finisher with full momentum then HOLD L1 while flicking the analog, wait for taunt to complete then immediately have P1 attack P2 to complete the interrupt stolen taunt challenge.

Look, yea I know this game is far from being perfect but so are a ton of other games out there. Games always have bugs that don't get fixed for whatever reasons. It's just the way it is. Unless you're TEAM Ninja. If you don't like this game then why don't you sell it and buy something you might like.

This game is fun for it's create-a-superstar mode. I've made a bunch of celebrities and odd characters. It's hilarious watching some of em in action. If you want some strategy tips for the challenges, check out GameFAQs site.

Yeah you got me there with the if you dont like it leave it attitude but to be honest I would keep the game even if I hated it as I have all the others. Cheers for the tips but I have unlocked everybody now with my Max Drive (9:99). Jake rules as in his entrance he has the snake in a bag over his shoulders. The game is ok but they took the fun out of getting everything in shopzone for me. I used to like doing the challenges aswell but coz of possum and steal a taunt I had to just cheat and unlock them all. Now I have not a bad game. Shouldn't have to though. When I did the interupt a stolen taunt in 2 player it never past the challenge. Needs to be vs com I think.

You cant do all the challenges because of glitches in the game and the Max Drive has more uses than unlocking a wrestler on SVR 06. I'm keeping mine as they rule. Good call though dude on the snake slithering out of the bag, that so would of ruled. His entrance does look ok though. His move set aint that bad but he does have a stupid suplex where he holds them up there that he never could do in real life. It does rule having Roberts n Dibiase though.

You CAN do all the challenges in the game which is the reason why I have Ted DiBiase unlocked and selectable as a legend. Complete ALL the challenges and DiBiase can be purchased in the WWE SHOP (locker room).

Having trouble with interrupt stolen taunt?
Have clean P2 steal clean P1's taunt (stored finisher+full momentum, hold L1 then flick analog.) Immediately have P1 attack P2. Challenge cleared.

Can't perform a possum pin?
This is easier with 2 controllers (2P Mode) or can even be done on the cpu. It's all in the timing as this move has a very small window in which you can tap either L2 or R2 to activate the possum pin. Timing is everything. Store a finisher then after being knocked to the mat by the opponent HOLD the CIRCLE BUTTON to stay down. While holding the circle button, press L2 to counter a srike or press R2 to counter a grapple at the EXACT moment you are striked/grappled. You're stored finisher will go away and the possum pin will activate. This pin is very hard to kick out of.

You can complete all the challenges with 2P Mode (2 controllers) if you want. smitty, don't bash the game for your lack of knowledge. Just because you can't complete it doesn't necessarily mean it can't be done.

I bashed the game as you slide to the corner when irish whipped and you are expected to get a PSP to unlock Roberts. I didn't need to fanny about with the possum pin as the save I downloaded had Dibiase and Roberts. Dont deny that when doing the possum pin that most of the time it takes your stored finisher without doing anything. From the length it took you to reply it suggests that it took you some time. THQ have not ironed out all the creases in the game and most of the net are saying so but you must be right. The Roberts thing IS a skank and the AI think IS a joke. You even said. Dont get over happy just because you spent 2 weeks trying to pull off the possum pin and got it done once or twice. We all got it done but didn't run to our keyboards and attempt to tell someone who might care. Tell me when you got jake. The possum pin is still too tricky to pull off and not worth the effort it takes. In the next game it will work properly and you wont lose your stored finisher when it doesn't happen as THIS IS A GLITCH! Lack of knowledge? Dont make me laugh. Talk about knowledge when you gave the game 5 stars after only having it 3 days. THE GAME HAS MANY GLITCHES to be honest.

Pulled off the possum pin once or twice? Is that what happened to you? The reason why you stored finisher is taken away without activating the possum pin is because you got pwned by your opponent. You pressed L2/R2 too early or too late which is why your stored finisher went away without the possum pin. The time frame for pressing the correct button sucks...have to almost predict what attack while lying there. I not going to get Jake. All his moves are in the create-a-moveset mode which you can assign to a CAS character. No PSP? No Jake. Who cares? You paid for someone's saved game aka MAXdrive cause you couldn't do it yourself with 2 controllers. you got pwned. Yea I gave it 5 stars after having the game for only 3 days but if you would read my other post in response to your post I said it actually deserved 4.5 stars. You, on the other hand gave the gave 1 star? Do you always keep 1 star games in your collection? Why don't you tell the fans what it's like to get your teeth whitened, girlpants.

All you have to do is get a finisher and press circle,down near the ropes todo a possom pin

do any of you no how to do that finisher in acasket challenge because i cant i've tryed and tryed but i cant get it do any of you now how.

the only weakness i find in the game is the tag matches with the tag partner as a computer....u call him in and he just stands in the corner until someone comes to attack him

I think that the wekness is the story mode repetition, chris masters terrible entrace, do not have matt hardy and some grafics

Quality to have Owen Hart but what took them so long? Jeff hard as a legend? Pathetic. He's been signed so he'll be back by time the games out but maybe with differences that will make the new game outdated. Much as Jeff's skills and heart were highly acclaimed, what kind of a role model is somebody who was asked to leave due to over doing it with cocaine? Umaga? And you should get Typhoon with alternate costume as Tug Boat as the move set is the same.

This particular challenge seems to be an issue with many people, but it isn't impossible. Here's how I did it.

Firstly, go to OPTIONS/CUSTOM AI SETTINGS/FREQUENCY OF COMS USAGE and set the STEALING A FINISHING MOVE RATE to maximum. This will ensure the AI is in a position to steal your taunt regularly. I also turned MOMENTUM RATE TAUNTS up in GAME BALANCE, although I don't think that helped.

Choose a character with some fairly unique taunts so that you can easily recognise when they are stolen. I chose HULK HOGAN to play as and ROB VAN DAM as my opponent because I noticed in previous matches that he seems to taunt a lot.

Here's the trick... beat up your opponent a little bit and then get out of the ring. Perform several taunts, getting back in and out of the ring when the count gets near 10 (or turn RING OUT off in the match rules). With any luck your opponent will also perform taunts, his momentum meter will fill up and he'll store a finisher. Taunt some more and watch out because pretty soon he *should* steal one of your taunts at which point you need to leap in the ring and smack him, completing the challenge.

You'll know if it worked because it'll tell you on screen.

This worked for me and I had the challenge completed less than 3 minutes into the match. Good luck!
