Posted Oct 21, 2007 - I purchased this component cable for my PS2 system. I tested it on my PS3 system too, though I mainly use HDMI on my PS3. This is simply the best. I tried several cheap third party cables purchased on ebay, not only for PS2 but also for XBOX, Gamecube and other systems. I found all of them disappointing. I thought there would be no difference as long as the signal goes through, but I was wrong. The colors were different when my PS2 hooked up with this Sony cable. I will not go for cheap cables again.

They work well!

Posted Sep 7, 2007 - Honestly, I see too many people wasting their money on 'high performance' cables (ranging from $35 to $100). It's not worth it most of the time: if your console is less than 6 feet away from your TV, you probably do not need those fancy cables (except unless your house is full of interference). So what's a good brand of component cables for the Sony Playstation 3 (or Playstation 2)? The official Sony ones of course. I picked these up for $20 and haven't had a single issue with them. They look great, feel like they're built well, and the visuals look perfect! If you don't have HDMI capable TV then component is you best option. These babies can do up 720p just as well as HDMI from what I've seen. For those of you wondering why I have both HDMI and component cables, the reason is simple: I use HDMI with my PS3 and component with my PS2. I have the PS2 hooked up still because of Guitar Hero (the guitar controller doesn't work on the PS3). Since I had both, I decided to test them. But ultimately, if you need some good component cables and a good price, get the official Sony ones.

No problem with this cable

Posted Jul 21, 2007 - This is a good, inexpensive way to see the video signal of a PS3 in HDTV if you use an older TV that doesn't accept HDMI. Be warned, however, that component cables can only carry 480p, 720p or 1080i, so you will not be able to get full HD 1080p functionality with this cable.

PS3 component cable

Posted Apr 30, 2008 - I am using this component cable for my Samsung 940MW LCD monitor. The pictures from games and movies look great. It would be great if it is already included in the console package.

Nice set of cables

Posted Mar 1, 2008 - The Playstation component cables are a nice set of cables. They look a like nicer than the boring design for the PS2 era versions. And best of all these cables are compatible with both the PS2 and PS3. If you had a HD setup and are out of/don't have and HDMI ports, or need it for your PS2, definitely pick these cables up.

great picture at a great price

Posted Feb 23, 2008 - very good cable made for the ps3, but can be used with the ps2. i use this with my ps2 and a small hdtv and get a resolution of 480i, which is still much better than with composite or s-video. the colors appear much more vibrant and with much less artifacts. i'm sure with a ps3, the quality would be even better and a higher resolution. the cable itself is quite long - good for people with their systems away from their tv, but i have a personal setup in my room and have my ps2 right under the tv, so it's a bit long for my needs. though, if i were sony, i would air on the side of a longer cable than a shorter one.

Must have cable for PS2 and an HDTV

Posted Jan 2, 2008 - Like other reviews have stated, these cables can be used with a PS2 as well as a PS3. I got these cables for my sister's PS2 which was previously connected using S-video to a Sony LCD HDTV. The picture not only looks sharper and the colors more vibrant, but much more detail is visible in dark scenes. She showed me some scenes from Final Fantasy 12 in which via S-video the ground and walls were basically dark with no detail, but via these component cables the bricks that make up the ground and walls are now clearly visible. Note that I calibrated both the S-video and the component connections using Digital Video Essentials, so the lack of detail on the S-video connection was not due to improper settings. If you have a PS2 connected to an HDTV, these are the cables needed for the best picture quality.

Sony Component AV Cables (PS3)

Posted Nov 27, 2007 - The Sony Component Cables for the PS3 are a set of component cables that work with the PS3, as well as the PS2, as they have the same connector for non-HDMI connections. They retail at $20, though can be found for cheaper at some retail stores. They're good quality cables with gold-plated contacts, though they should have been packed in the PS3 box like MS does with the 360. They do the job well enough, and use with the PS2 and PS3 gives them some extra value.

Great component AV cable for price!

Posted Nov 25, 2007 - The Sony PS3 component AV cable was an excellent purchase for me! I have a Sony PS2 and wanted a component AV cable to enhance video output. I researched multiple component AV cables and corresponding reviews, and this by far was the best choice for my application. The $20 price along with the gold connector design, use with either PS3 or PS2, and simplicity in swapping out the composite AV cable with this one, gave me more confidence in the decision-making process, and in the end, made me a very satisfied consumer. I'd recommend this product to any PS2 or PS3 owner!

Nice cable for the price

Posted Oct 23, 2007 - This Sony component cable really hits the sweet spot in terms of price and performance. I have an older 3rd party Component for PS2 and the picture quality from that cable is not as vivid as the Sony component cable. I thought about getting a monster component cable for PS2 but the price was just outrageous compare to this cable. I doubt any other PS3 cable will outperform this cable for this price ($20 at circuit city)

Excellent combination of quality and price

Posted Oct 2, 2007 - Being that component cables are analog devices, you want one of high quality, good shielding, but not overboard on price. I wouldn't buy the cheapest PS3 component cables just on price alone, but then I also wouldn't waste my money on super expensive cables overdone on shielding quality. This Sony accessory cable is the perfect compromise. Solid construction at a very reasonable price. Snug fit for the D-connector, aesthetic design of the cable ends, and a cord long enough to place the PS3 in more convenient locations beyond the usual 6 feet. Picture quality is perfect!! By the way, component cables DO support 1080p resolutions, but your TV has to support it on its component inputs.

Sony AV Component cable Great buy!

Posted Aug 23, 2007 - This is a great component cable for the price. It a Sony product so it is a direct fit. The connector are gold plated. A must have item for your Playstation 3. I would reccomend this product to everyone.
