The DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for the PLAYSTATION 3 system provides the most intuitive game play experience with pressure sensors in each action button and the inclusion of the highly sensitive SIXAXIS motion sensing technology. Each hit, crash and explosion is more realistic when the user feels the rumble right in the palm of their hand. It can even detect natural movements for real-time and high precision interactive play, acting as a natural extension of the user's body. DUALSHOCK 3 utilizes Bluetooth technology for wireless game play and the controller's USB cable to seamlessly and automatically charge the controller through the PLAYSTATION 3 at anytime. By integrating all of these features into the popular PlayStation controller design, the DUALSHOCK 3 will further enhance the advanced game play experience only available on the PLAYSTATION 3 system. minimize

5 Star Review If you liked Dualshock 2 you'll like Dualshock 3

Strengths:

Performs just like Sixaxis controller but adds vibration support. Extra weight feels more natural.

Weaknesses:

Doesn't come full charged in the package. Doesn't include a usb cable.

Posted 1 year ago - The dualshock 3 controller looks and performs just like the sixaxis. While the sixaxis feels light weight, the dualshock 3 weighs closer to a dualshock 2 or xbox 360 controller. The extra weight feels more natural to me. The vibration feature is automatic for newer PS3 games like Metal gear solid 4 but older games like Resistance need a patch downloaded before rumble works. Unfortunately, some older PS3 games such as Call of Duty 4 do not support vibration. If your PS3 is backward compatible, the dualshock 3 vibrates for PS2 and PS1 games. The dualshock 3 is not fully charged when you take it out of the package and it doesn't include a USB cable. So you will have to connect it using the USB cable that came with the PS3 system to charge it before you can use it. This wouldn't be as much of an annoyance if the PS3 came with a longer cable so I could play and charge at the same time. If you enjoy rumble in games I highly recommend the dualshock 3 controller. It vibrates like a dualshock 2 and the battery charge seems to last about as long as the sixaxis.

5 Star Review Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (PS3)

Strengths:

Force feedback, right weight, backwards compatible to PS2 rumble

Weaknesses:

Should've been included from the beginning, not supported in all PS3 games, no included USB cable

Posted 1 year ago - The Dualshock 3 is the second-generation PS3 wireless controller, adding force feedback to the Sixaxis controller. With the addition of the force feedback motors, the too-light feeling of the Sixaxis feels perfectly weighted now. The Dualshock 3 provides rumble for PS3 games that support it, though not all games do. Some older ones have been patched to support it, though it's supported in all PS2 games on the PS3. There's no included USB cable, so charging two controllers at once needs the purchase of a cable. Also, this should have been the controller included with the PS3 from the beginning. It's a great controller and is well worth the money.

4 Star Review DS3 controller

Strengths:

balance and overal feel

Weaknesses:

location of analog sticks

Posted 1 year ago - Being new to the PS3, I’ve never used the 6 axis controller so I don’t really have it to compare to. The DS3 is a good controller with the right weight and balance for me. I can play for hours without hand fatigue. The triggers and buttons are easy to get to (they’re where you’d expect them ergonomically) and have good tactile feel. The only minor thing is that the spacing of the analog sticks is a bit close to each other, but that’s mainly because I have bigger hands/longer fingers.

4 Star Review Nice controller

Strengths:

Vibration function really adds to the experience. Bluetooth wireless.

Weaknesses:

Bit pricey, short battery life. No regular batteries. Motion controls not accurate.

Posted 1 year ago - Nice controller where the vibration function adds a lot to the game experience. Though a bit pricey in my opinion, I would highly recommend owning one of these to every PS3 owner. FPS games are great with this, as are many casual games like Pixel Junk monsters. I wish it used regular AA batteries though - that way I could stick in some rechargeable batteries. I am worried what will happen a year from now when the built in rechargeable stop working - do I have to buy a new controller then? I less star for that, otherwise would have been a perfect 5.

5 Star Review Very nice controller

Strengths:

Comfortable for extended play, responsive, vibration, motion sensing

Weaknesses:

Slightly pricey

Posted 1 year ago - Good controller that keeps the best of both worlds - vibration and wireless - in the same PlayStation controller everyone knows and loves. PS2 and PS3 games with/without rumble work flawlessly. Battery life is pretty good for a controller like this. Overall recommended.

4 Star Review The Best controller for PS3

Strengths:

Includes vibration & feels more sturdy

Weaknesses:

Had to reset couple of times

Posted 1 year ago - When I heard about this controller, I got real excited. To be able to play my PS2/PS1 games with original rumble experience on PS3 was fantastic. And it really turned out to be a great controller. Not only the rumble works great with old games, there were some current PS3 games also which already supported it. Besides the rumble feature, the controller also feels a little better in hand than the sixaxis one which was too light for my liking. One problem I faced was that after certain firmware updates, my PS3 would not recognize my Dualshock 3 controller, unless I reset it. Sony can launch some more colors in USA but for now I am happy with my black one

4 Star Review Like the Sixaxis but with Rumble

Strengths:

Rumble, Sixaxis motion, Comfortable, Familiar design and interface, Sturdy

Weaknesses:

L2/R2 buttons feel weird, No usb cable included

Posted 1 year ago - The Dualshock 3 is essentially the Sixaxis controller with rumble technology. There are no other visible changes, but it is noticeably heavier than the Sixaxis. My Sixaxis makes a squeaking noise if you try twisting the controller but the Dualshock 3 feels much sturdier and like one solid piece. If you've ever used a Playstation controller, you know what to expect in terms of comfort and button layout. Battery life seems the same as the Sixaxis, but I would assume that it is a tad shorter because of rumble. Both the Sixaxis and Dualshock 3 have these L2/R2 buttons that slope down. For me, it becomes uncomfortable when you're holding it down for a long time like in a racing game. The slope also makes it easy to have your fingers slip off at times. The controller did not come with a usb cable. Although I am not really in need of more usb to mini usb cables, it would have been nice to have one included. Overall, the Dualshock 3 is the Sony controller you would have expected them to release in the beginning.

4 Star Review Vibration comes back to the PS3

Strengths:

It shakes! It's also a SIXAXIS!

Weaknesses:

Shouldn't have had to re-buy a controller that should have come out in the first place

Posted 1 year ago - The Dualshock 3. Vibration, a request asked for by many gamers when Sony decided it wasn't needed anymore. And after a long enough time, Sony decided to bring it back. And it works great. If you've ever held a Playstation controller in the last 10 years, you know what to expect here. The great buttons, controls, feel along with next gen sixaxis along with rumble. This is definitely a controller you want to get if you want to get the most out of your games, it's just a shame it didn't come out in the first place.

4 Star Review Replace your old sixaxis!

Strengths:

Rumbles, better vibration details than the old ones, price

Weaknesses:

Weight, potentially lower battery life, not much game supported (yet)

Posted 1 year ago - As expected, identical to the SIXAXIS non-dualshock controller. PROs: It virbrates in a much better detail than the dualshock2 IMO. It feels more lifely that I no longer feel there're only left or right motor spinning inside (playing MGS4). For $10 more, you get the rumble options in most new games. CONs: The weight bothers me a little bit even though it certainly feels more like a controller's weight. It feels like twice the weight of the non-dualshock controller. They might have added some more batteries with this one, but I don't feel any battery-life drop so far. Not much games really support this feature yet, or execute it good enough. There're not much vibration going on even if I crash my car into a concrete wall in GTA IV (the setting is ON).

5 Star Review Sony Dualshock 3 Controller

Strengths:

-rumble rumble -better weight than sixaxis (more comfortable) -long battery life

Weaknesses:

-none

Posted 1 year ago - I was surprised at how well the battery held up. Played all day and then some on MGS4, well worth it and still didn't need to recharge. Get the real deal, not the generic stuff, as far as controllers go.

5 Star Review best ps3 controller since DualShock2

Strengths:

It's a Ps3 controller with rumble feature

Weaknesses:

Weights a bit more than the six-axis

Posted 1 year ago - this is one of the best controllers ever released by the Sony for the PS3, the DUALshock3. It features with the bluetooth cordless system and integrates the rumble feature which was unavailable in the Six-axis controller. The control is not as light weight as the Six-axis, but not as heavy as a Xbox360 controller. I recommend this control for the new coming games for the PS3 which are Dualshock3 supported. Including MGS4 and other games coming this year release.

5 Star Review Must have PS3 controller

Strengths:

High quality plus vibration

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - This is a must have PS3 controller, especially if you are going to get MGS4. The main difference from the SixAxis controller (besides vibration) is that it is a bit heavier. However, the controller is definitely high quality and worth the purchase.

5 Star Review I love this PS3 Dualshock 3 wireless controller

Strengths:

heavier than PS3 sixaxis wireless controller, so it's firm to grip.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - I brought this controller to add on to the original Sixaxis controller that came with PS3. I also own PS2 controller and that is the reason why I brougth dualshock. It is a little bit heavier than the Sixaxis wireless controller. This controller is a must for real game player. I love it and probably I will get this other one soon.

4 Star Review A great addition!

Strengths:

+rumble! +only $5 more than SixAxis +includes tilt function!

Weaknesses:

-should have been released from day 1 PS3 launched

Posted 1 year ago - Overall this is a really really high quality product. The rumble function is amazing and adds so much depth to games (like all of PS2's games), and the tilt function is in there as well. I'm glad PS3 was able to eventually release a rumble controller, because the original SixAxis just doesn't cut it.

4 Star Review They took it away, now we have to buy it back

Strengths:

The rumble feature that was so popular with PS1 and PS2

Weaknesses:

They took it away for the PS3!

Posted 1 year ago - It shakes like the good ole' days, but they took it away, and now we have to buy it again. It's little heavier than the SIXAXIS, but it works just the same.
