Strengths:Balanced weapons and vehicle, tons of fun, bluetooth headset included in retail box
Weaknesses:No single-player
Posted Dec 18, 2007 - Warhawk is great-looking, tons of fun, and provides hours upon hours of entertainment. It is multiplayer-only, so those without a decent net connection need not apply. To oversimplify, I'd call it Sony's answer to Halo (minus the single-player campaign). Gameplay consists of standard team-based combat, taking place on foot, in land vehicles, and in the titular Warhawk air vehicles. There is a slight learning curve and when you jump into your first game you'll definitely get your butt kicked for a while. But once you get the hang of it, you'll realize that there is a great balance in the selection of weapons and vehicles. There's no single weapon or vehicle that can easily overpower the rest and this makes for fun, intense battles.
Warhawk comes in to flavors. The retails package runs the full $60 price tag, but includes a Jabra BT125 bluetooth headest. If you don't have your own, you'll need one to communicate with other players online and the included Jabra does a pretty good job. The other option is to stick the disc-based version and headset and download Warhawk from the online Playstation Store for a more reasonable $40. Either way, you're in for a good time.
Simply put, Warhawk is an incredibly fun, although not perfect, online PS3 game. Any PS3 owner looking to play online should pick this up. Although, if you already have a bluetooth headset, just go with the $40 download from the Playstation Store. So far, I'd say there's 4-5 must-have titles for the PS3 and this is absolutely one of them.
