Best Game Yet
Strengths: Great Soundtrack, Multi-player, Additional Download Content
Weaknesses: Guitar Controller not Compatible with Guitar Hero
Summary: This game may go down in history as one of the best games made. Gather some friends together and jam out to a great set of songs. If you were a fan of guitar hero games, this is a must have. Game play is great and allows the user to play lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, and vocals, or any combination. Guitar controller is wireless and works pretty well. The only limitation is the lack of compatibility with Guitar Hero Controllers. This makes it impossible to play both lead and bass guitars simultaneously as additional controllers are not yet for sale. Drum stands is great and can be pretty challenging at first. Vocals are a blast for those who like to sing in the shower. Overall, this is a must have title for any system.

Rock Band: Special Edition
Strengths: Smashing game!
Weaknesses: Hardware limited Warranty, unexchangeable from the retail store.
Summary: This game is fantastic for a different experience for multi-player games. If you don't care about stats or gaining fans you can play easy or medium hardness for some quick fun alone or with a few friends. If you like hard rock it has a great selection and more downloadable songs every few weeks.

Rock Band: Special Edition (PS3).
Strengths: Nice Music Variety, Fun Multiplayer Game
Weaknesses: Hardware is question quality, Not compatible with Guitar Hero Guitars, Expensive
Summary: I bought this around Christmas and over all its a great game for multi-player. Lots of song variety and the online capabilities are pretty fun. The game is challenging depending on your instrument of choice (i.e. Guitar, Drums, Mic). The biggest downfall is the quality of the guitar (I already returned 1) as well as the lack of compatibility with the Guitar Hero guitars. The box says compatible with most guitars and yet it doesn't work with Guitar Hero III guitar for the PS3. The game is fun, but for a single player experience, I'm not sure its worth the $170.

Fun group game
Strengths: Teamwork, Fun, Download more music
Weaknesses: Terrible Customer Support, pricey for a single game, not a wireless microphone, drums foot pedal feels a little akward.
Summary: 2008-02-10 21:11:11 Very fun once you get working hardware. Other people have complained that the guitars aren't working out of the box... In my case it was the microphone... It seemed to have a bad connection and would cut in-and-out and stop the game because of it. I waited for over 2 weeks for the replacement microphone (even though their customer service claimed 3-5 days for expedited delivery). Even with the UPS Tracking # saying EA had only requested pickup - several customer service reps kept telling me it was already shipped. The working replacement finally arrived.
Once the hardware all works - it's a lot of fun. One of the most fun songs to do is Blue Oyster Cult's "The Reaper" -- especially doing the COWBELL - with the microphone. If you've ever seen the Saturday Night Live skit - you'll really appreciate.
There's some very nice "team" concepts that are missing in a lot of other video games (especially non-Wii games). For example - you can get a failing band member out of trouble by completing a power up - and you have to make group decisions about how to "manage" the band...
I would give 5 stars if the price was lower and if you got working hardware out of the box.

Group entertainment
Strengths: multiple player, realistic drum play
Weaknesses: unreliable hardware
Summary: This is one of my favorite games. It has given my family tons of entertainment. This game comes with a guitar, drum set, and microphone. The hardware is the only problem with this game. There are many people who have guitars or drums that are not registering the notes they play correctly. The manufacturer has a website to return your defective hardware, but many are still getting defective hardware again. Except for this, the game is wonderful. If they can develop better hardware, this game would be perfect. Right now, there is no third party hardware available, but I heard that other companies are trying to develop new hardware.

Nice change from shooting and killing!
Strengths: Good quality product, quite a few play options
Weaknesses: Price is a bit high but... (see below), would like to see some classic and a bit softer rock titles
Summary: This is a welcome change the standard shooting and killing games that seem to dominate the market. This game encourages teamwork and actually requires some physical activity (in the case of the drums, anyway). The price is a bit high, but given you get three instruments (guitar, drums, microphone) along with the game, this seems somewhat in line. It would be nice to have some other music from what I would call the "softer rock bands". Perhaps this will come over time. One of the features that makes this far superior to Guitar Hero is having multiple players and the players work as a team. There is even a way to have a player get brought back into the game after they have been expelled.

Rock Band Special Edition for Playstation 3
Strengths: Great songs, Rockers are very customizable to your liking, a lot of fun to play with friends
Weaknesses: Guitar takes some getting used to, foot pedal is a little awkward for tall people, songs get repetitive
Summary: After playing this game for quite a few hours I've easily determined that it's a lot of fun! The songs are great, but can get repetitive. You jump from city to city playing gigs and a lot of the songs are repeated. Also once you have earned x amount of fans the game makes you play at a higher difficulty level to gain more fans. You can however fully customize your characters from hair to ink and everything in between. Has a very similar layout (the actual game play) to the rival guitar hero games, but the colors are in different order on the drums. I've had no problems with the drum set after calibration to my television, but the pedal gets kind of awkward for taller people like myself. Above all this game truly rocks and is worth every penny. Once you get used to the play it's a ton of fun!

Rock Out!
Strengths: -Ultra Fun
-Multiplayer
-Lots of songs, 58
Weaknesses: -Graphics ok
-Bad equipment
Summary: The bundle is a great purchase for all the things you get. However, there are many reports of equipment problems especially the guitar and pedal. The gameplay is fun otherwise, it's must have for any music gamer. 9/10

Rockband
Strengths: Gameplay/interaction with friends
Weaknesses: Only 1 guitar with package
Summary: My friends and I really enjoy this game. It promotes interaction with you and 3 others. The ability to buy new songs and play across the net with other 'players' in different regions greatly add to the strength of this game. Another fun aspect is the ability to compare your band's current stats with the rest of the community. Each time the game saves, your stats are automatically uploaded for comparison.

Great party game
Strengths: Lots of fun, easy to pick up and play
Weaknesses: Availability, price (especially if not purchased retail), reports of problems with the instruments, currently no way to purchase extra guitars w/o purchasing another set.
Summary: 2007-12-12 11:38:20 I've never played the guitar hero series before, but I picked this up and was able to have fun immediately (playing bass on the easy level). This is a great party game, and even the biggest bringdowns will immediately get caught up.
I've read on the Rock Band official forum that the (at least) the PS3 version has had problems with the peripherals not working or breaking. The good news is that EA is offering a free game to people who have to wait for a replacement guitar (reported on DailyTech)
The instruments are not sold separately and the Guitar Hero 3 guitar is not compatible on PS3. Right now, for the PS3, there is no way to purchase any extra guitars or drums without purchasing another $170+ bundle. Amazon lists January 31st as the day when the instruments can be purchased separately, but I wouldn't be surprised if this date were pushed back with all the replacement guitars they've had to provide.
In short this game is great, and will be even better once peripherals are sold separately too.

This game ROCKs!!!
Strengths: Wireless guitar, variety of music, ability to customize your character, solo/multiplayer/online functionality
Weaknesses: drum petal is somewhat awkward, would be nice if drums/microphone were also wireless.
Summary: We called about 10 different stores, including the one we finally found the game at (even though they said they didn't have it) before we finally found it. This is an extremely popular game, and for goo reason. You will never play the same game twice - there are so many different variations between instrument and skill level. You can customize your own character, buy new items, increase you popularity, etc. We just got the game today and have hardly stopped playing it - we LOVE it. This game really ROCKs!
