4 Star Review Ratchet and Clank Future - Welcome to the Next Gen in Platforming

Strengths:

Fantastic visuals, Top notch voice acting, Great replay value

Weaknesses:

Could have been more challenging

Posted Jan 4, 2008 - Ratchet and Clank Future: ToD was the first R & C game that I have ever played and let me tell you, it was a blast! This game is candy for your eyes. The art design is fantastic and the visuals are gorgeous in high-definition. Overall the sounds in the game are very good - especially the voice acting and weapons. After the game is completed, you can play through again in Challenge mode - it is slightly more difficult at first but once you start acquiring the new upgraded Omega weapons, it starts to get a bit too easy. And that leads into the sole weakness of the game - it just is not challenging enough. I wish the bosses would have been a bit tougher and the levels a bit longer. However, that was not enough to keep me from really enjoying this great game but it does keep me from giving this game a perfect score of five stars. I would recommend this game to everybody who enjoys platform gaming.

Posted Nov 30, 2007 - The Game is FUN and the keyword is fun has a lot of good humor inside the story. Graphics are wonderfull in this game. The story lacks a bit of originality, because is more or less the same as other games in the series. My Wife loves this game for is easy to use controls and weapon system. The missions are Fun and FUN TO WATCH. If you want an Action Adventure game with Fun character and Good animation elements then this game is for you. So remember Key points are: GRAPHICS, ANIMATION, GOOD HUMOR If you just got you SON or DAUGHTER a PS3 this will be a great addition to their arsenal of Games.

Strengths:

very entertaining, great visuals

Posted Jan 21, 2008 - I never really got into the ratchet and clank series when it was on the ps2, but im glad I decided to pick it up for the ps3. the game is very entertaining and the rich bright visuals just pop at you. A couple drawbacks of the game are that it is a little too short and pretty easy on top of that. Also, some kind of online multiplayer would’ve given the game more replay value. If you don’t feel like spending money on a short game, at least give it a rent as the experience is still very enjoyable

4 Star Review Ratchet and Clannk Future: Tools of Destruction

Strengths:

Amazing graphics, variety of weopons, pretty good story line, and land/air gameplay.

Weaknesses:

Not multiplayer and not very challenging.

Posted 1 year ago - I beat "Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction" a bunch of times, and it never gets old. The graphics are amazing; there are a lot of interesting/fun levels; and it has the best weapon variety of any Ratchet game yet. I noticed in just about each Ratchet game there is a powerful weapon called the "RYNO" and it's always expensive. In this game, you just have to find the directions to build it, bring it to some guy, and he builds it for you for free. That is something better about this Ratchet game. Overall, I probably rate this game about 90% approval out of 100%. I hope my review was helpful.

Posted May 1, 2008 - I have played R&C 1, 2, and 3 on the PS2. If you have played any of those games then you know exactly what this game is all about. It's a continuation of that series and they haven't messed with the formula too much. The game looks great - beautiful, crisp, vibrant graphics. There is a huge number of weapons to choose from... from the standard R&C blaster or bomb glove to the new gelanator to my favorite, the disco ball that causes Ratchet's enemies to start disco dancing. The game is easy... I seem to die only when I fall into something I shouldn't because I miscalculated the jump... I rarley die from fighting opponents. Also, I was expecting multiplayer... some of the earlier games had it on the PS2 and my son would often battle his friends using the split screen so I am disappointed that the game doesn't have multiplayer. The basic gameplay has you moving from world to world to complete various objectives. You collect bolts that you get from breaking open crates or killing enemies or just by smashing lamp posts. Those bolts can be used to buy weapons at vendors... only a limited number of weapons are available at each vendor. Also, the more you use a particular weapon the more powerful it gets. You can also buy weapon upgrades to carry more ammo, increase the damage or increase the number of bolts received when killing a enemy with that gun. There are also golden bolts that a harder to find and are used to buy better upgrades. The game is a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone.

Posted Mar 30, 2008 - Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction is the fourth game in the R&C series, though the first one on the PS3. The game looks and sounds amazing, and is easily one of the best looking and sounding games on the PS3. The gameplay covers numerous types, including shooting, platforming, puzzle and vehicle combat, so there's enough diversity for most. The weapon arsenal is amazingly well done, with plenty of different options for anyone. The only small issue is that the game is a little easier than past games, as well as shorter than most, though there's plenty of reason to go back through the game multiple times. For R&C fans, it's an easy pick, though for any action fans on the PS3, this is a must-have.

Posted Jan 22, 2008 - Simply put, Ratchet and Clank Future is one of the best games I have ever played. It does everything right, from great graphics, thrilling gameplay, good voice acting, it is indeed the total package. If you have played the earlier games in the Ratchet and Clank series you should know what to expect, but this game takes it to a whole new level. While the flying missions are sort of a drag, thankfully there aren't very many of them so that doesn't hamper the game to much. Overall Ratchet and Clank is the very best game on the PlayStation 3 and I recommend it to everyone.

Posted Jan 8, 2008 - Amazingly pretty graphics. I have had a little trouble with aiming using the the PS3 (this is probably just me not used to aiming with analog stick - preferring using a mouse or wii's remote to aim). Overall a fun game and one of the few that's appropriate for younger kids on the PS3.

Strengths:

Posted Jan 3, 2008 - once you start playing you will not want to stop. ratchet and clank is a very fun game. no blood or deaths needed to make this an excellent game for everyone. ratchet has an arsenal of weapons and gadgets for you to play with. this game will keep you entertained until you finally complete it. the story is good and the graphics are great. i highly recommend this game to everyone, it's one of the ps3's jewels.

5 Star Review One of the few must-have PS3 titles

Strengths:

Solid platforming, beautiful graphics, large selection of cool weapons, fun and funny

No multiplayer (not that I expected any), forced use of sixaxis tilt control is annoying, a little too easy

Posted Dec 18, 2007 - For starters, this game is amazing. If you just the answer to "should I buy this or not?" then I give you a resounding "yes". I picked this game up after hearing many positive things about it. I own both the 360 and the PS3, so I was looking for AAA PS3-exclusive titles and heard nothing but good things about Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. I've never played any of the previous entries in the series, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect but had a good idea from things I've read. Simply put, this game is just downright fun. It looks great, it plays great, and its just a really enjoyable gaming experience. It doesn't make you think to hard, it doesn't have over the top violence or gore, its just pure platforming fun. If you're looking for a fun, great-looking, platformer I whole-heartedly recommend this latest entry in the Ratchet and Clank franchise.

5 Star Review Ratchet & Clank Future: Excellent

Strengths:

Incredible graphics, fun and original weapons, great story and humor

Weaknesses:

The sequel's not out yet. . .

Posted Dec 15, 2007 - The graphics are amazing and crisp, game play is smooth, and there's an decent story. The levels are fairly large and there's mixed game play: aside from playing through the normal action as Ratchet sometimes you'll take on the role of Clank for a while, you may have to pilot a space ship or gyro-cycle, there are a few times where you have to perform a HALO jump, dance, or decrypt a security system using a puzzle like screen. They did well with the dialog and voice acting which adds to the experience. There's an impressive level of creativity with the levels, weapons, items, characters, environments. It's possible to play the game through in 8 hours, but it'll take longer if you try to upgrade all of your weapons to their maximum and find all of the hidden 'Golden bolts' which unlock extras or find all the pieces to a special weapon schematic that can then be made for you. After playing through, there's the added challenge of starting again in 'Challenge Mode' where you keep your weapons, life, and armor and replay with added enemy difficulty and the opportunity to buy 'Omega' versions of your weapons. Truly a great game and I definitely recommend playing it.

Posted Dec 12, 2007 - This is the first R&C game I've ever played/owned. It's definitely a solid title to pick up. Very fun and easy to play. The graphics are sweet and there's a good amount of humorous cutscenes. There's a ton of weapons that you can utilize but some of them are pretty useless, so I found myself using only like 3-4 of them actually. A multi-player aspect would have been great with this title and increased replay value. After beating it the first time, Challenge Mode is unlocked, so the game has at least 2 times playthrough value but probably no more than 3 times to unlock everything.

Posted Nov 29, 2007 - First let me say that I have never played a Ratchet and Clank game before, so I did not have any expectations for this game. Given that, I thought this game was terrific. The graphics are excellent and the game is just a whole lot of fun to play. I have fired up this game to show friends the graphical prowess of the PS3 and they have all been impressed. Perhaps I should try out some of the previous Ratchet and Clank games.
