5 Star Review Very pleased with this new toy

Strengths:

Design-touchscreen+buttons, comfortable layout, features; Software- easy to setup & adjust, save settings online; overall outstanding value.

Weaknesses:

Slight lag controlling some device functions. One older device not found in database.

Posted Feb 22, 2008 - Upgraded from 2001 URC MX-500. Setting up this new unit was a flash compared to that one. The Logitech database had all of my devices, except the exact model number of a 1992 Panasonic TV. Used the learning function for that, and the software suggested some possible device matches. After devices entered, programmed some activities. Tried it out. Customized some of the touchscreen & regular buttons. Quick & easy. Settings are all saved in online account - making battery outages or upgrading to another unit a simple problem. Comfortable to use. Buttons different enough to use without looking. Unit illuminates with slight motion - no need to touch a key to light. Recharging dock. Unit shows battery status. Touchscreen allows customizable images/logos for Favorite Channels & slideshows on the unit screen. This is a very well-designed, feature-packed product that is a joy to use.

5 Star Review The One Remote to rule them all!!!!

Strengths:

This is the best Harmony Remote, ever!!!!! Great appearance, easy to navigate, rechargeable battery.

Weaknesses:

It can not control a PS3 or Wii due to lack of bluetooth.

Posted 1 year ago - I have own two previous Harmony remotes and this model is by far the best one yet! The touch screen is terrific and the button layout is fantastic. I was able to migrate my old Harmony remotes settings over with the included software and then make additional tweaks without any difficulties. The remote's key light up when the remote is moved, so you can navigate the Harmony in even the darkest rooms. The rechargeable battery lasts for weeks at a time. The only negative is that it is unable to control bluetooth devices such as the PS3 and the Wii. I can not stress how much my family loves this remote.

5 Star Review This remote is a Super Star Product

Strengths:

Nothing it its price range compares to the quality and customizability of this remote. This remote can be tweaked down to the smallest detail and preference. Controls are logical and well arranged.

Weaknesses:

Slightly slippery construction. You would not want to drop an expensive remote like this on a hard floor. Battery life is only fair, however, the sleak charging cradle addresses this well.

Posted May 22, 2008 - This is by far the most advanced programmable remote that we have ever owned and, according to our research efforts, nothing anywhere near its price compares to the features of this remote. In 20 minutes we had this remote controlling a Toshiba TV, a French cable box, a military AFN satellite receiver, a DVD player, VCR, Apple TV, and a stereo tuner. Setup was amazingly painless. Later, we spent much more time fine tuning the order and names of buttons on the color touch screen, however, this was mostly a matter of arranging the most common commands acessed to be accessible as quickly as possible. Once you invest this time, you never have to do so again. This is one of the best electronics products we have ever purchased and it gets a very strong recommendation from us. We hesitated at spending this much money for a remote control, however, after receiving it we can say that this is not an overpriced product at all. 5 stars.

5 Star Review Best remote I've ever owned so far

Strengths:

Easy to setup, color touch screen

Weaknesses:

none so far

Posted Feb 22, 2008 - I had 880, i loved it but this one is much better. It adds a beautiful color touch screen, the buttons are easier to use. It feels better in your hand compared to the previous models.

5 Star Review Logitech Harmony ONE

Strengths:

Touch screen display, compatibility of devices, great user interface, great help function

Weaknesses:

Back light display drains battery - no RF

Posted Mar 14, 2008 - I love this remote. Got it right when it came out about one month ago since I heard about the touch screen display. Definitely did not disappoint. You need to make sure you touch the center of the icon; otherwise, something else will get clicked. This is a great remote - I had an 880, and this one blows it away. I highly recommend it. I haven't tried loading the TV icons yet, but I think that would be a great option instead of typing the buttons. Speaking of which, I love how the buttons are now separated, unlike the 880 where sometimes (especially if you had big fingers) good luck trying to get the channel you want to come up. A great device with Logitech's awesome USB connection to the computer. A great thing getting better!

4 Star Review Tactile enjoyment can't be overstated

Strengths:

Sleek and cool looking. Wide gamut of physical buttons which can all be programmed. Color display. Works!

Weaknesses:

Low battery life (needs to be charged every other day). Expensive. No RF or Bluetooth capability.

Posted Feb 26, 2008 - This is the best universal remote I've used so far, but it's expensive. If I didn't have an audio receiver, I probably wouldn't have purchased this item. But now, instead of having to power on 3 separate remotes to watch Cable, this remote does it all. You'll have to tweak the manufacture's downloads to your liking, but once it's set, it's pretty nice to use. Unfortunately, the remote can't control my PS3 or Wii since it seems no universal remotes out there can yet handle all 3 (IR, RF, and BT). I like the resistance of the physical buttons when I press them. The buttons on the display are okay, but it's so much better to be able to feel the buttons when they're being pressed. For this reason along, with the styling and my lack of need for RF control that I chose this over the Harmony 1000. Also, this looks and performs better than the 880 and doesn't have the quirky contact problems with the recharging base.

5 Star Review Logitech Harmony ONE - WOW

Strengths:

VERY intuitive button layout, sharp/crisp lcd touch-screen, well-balanced weight distribution, sits in the hand very nicely...customizable AND EASY TO USE!

Weaknesses:

with touch-screen, sometimes it's possible for your finger to slip over the wrong button, sending a wrong command...this is minimal. no rf control with this model.

Posted Feb 11, 2008 - my brother has another harmony universal remote(890) and convinced me to make a purchase. luckily for me, it was right around the time that the ONE was released. these things are a breeze to use and very simple to set up with the included software. i used to have 4 remotes on my coffee table, plus my xbox 360 controller...now i have just the ONE. i couldn't be happier with my purchase and would fully recommend it to others looking for a quality addition to their home theater.

2 Star Review Logitech Harmony ONE

Strengths:

Light, sharpe looking

Weaknesses:

programming, touch screen, IR pointing

Posted Mar 5, 2008 - I thought this was a going to be the best remote ever, I was wrong. The programming keeps dropping out for starters, this requires using the help button but that doesn't fix the problem in the long run just that particular time. I then have to hook it back up to my computer to reset the functions, easy but not what I should have to do. The touch screen is nice but if you miss tapping exactly on the middle of the icon it will perform another function. You must point the remote at the device the entire time it's performing the function too. If you move it in any other direction slightly it will not perform correctly. I know this is not a RF remote but neither are any of my others and they are not this picky. If I had to do this all over I would not buy this product.

4 Star Review Best Logitech Harmoy Yet

Strengths:

Great feel in the hand; solid build; nice raised buttons; improved charging cradle

Weaknesses:

No obvious DirecTV DVR buttons

Posted Mar 6, 2008 - This is my favorite Logitech Harmony Remote yet! I have have the 676, 688, 880, 1000, and now the one! I hated the 1000, as I missed the buttons. The 880 always had problems with the charging cradle, and felt like cheap plastic. The first two have been so long ago, that I forget! ;-) The one has no problems charging in it's cradle. I just set it down, and it charges. Setup of the remote was the same as all others. I loaded the software (couldn't use my exising software on my computer, I had to reinstall), created an account, setup my devices, and off I was running. I wish Logitech would provide an easy method of swapping out a device for another, yet keeping your device list the same (a device is a particular TV, DVD, DVR, etc). I really like the way this sits in the palm of your hand! It is weighted just right. It fells so much better quality wise than the 880. The touch screen is kind of a gimmick. I also wish there was more backlight ability. Tech support is kind of lame. I was on the phone for over an hour waiting on how to problem an IR code (didn't have the IR remote I was replacing, I just had the codes). They could not help me! I had to find a learning remote that had preprogrammed remote codes, entered the code, then used that remote to program the Harmony! Very Lame!

5 Star Review best remote out there

Strengths:

controls everything but me!

Weaknesses:

price

Posted Feb 27, 2008 - This remote can do it all. it has no rf capability but then again i have no rf devices. if you have more than 2 remotes this is for you. granted some wont want to spend the money for this fine remote but the ability to press one button to make 4 or 5 things happen is really great. the fav channel feature is also a nice perk. easy to set up and use. i love it.

3 Star Review Logitech Harmony ONE

Strengths:

Ease of use once setup

Weaknesses:

Setup

Posted Feb 17, 2008 - Setting up this remote is a pain. First my Mac would not recognize the remote (never had this problem with any USB device connected to it) and the software that came with the Harmony ONE would not start until I connected the remote to the computer, so therefore would not launch. Called customer service and gave up after 30 minutes on hold. Got a hold of customer support the next day and they sorted it out. The setup seems to not allow you to set it up fully manual. I stream iTunes to my Sony receiver and the remote can only be set up as per the devices that you load into it...iTunes is not a device).

4 Star Review I should have gotten one of these years ago...

Strengths:

Very easy to set up. Feels good in your hand. LCD touch screen. It works!

Weaknesses:

Can not control the PS3. But that's Sony's fault

Posted Mar 26, 2008 - I had this remote working fully in less than 2 hours. Every audio/video componet that I have was easily recognized by the programming software. The options on customizing your Harmony remote are endless. You can virtually add any command that you want to add on the touch screen.I really have not changed anything on the remote since the first week of having it. There are a few things that I would like to change, but right from the start I had the remote working correctly for every thing i have: Samsung s5053 50" plasma, Devon3808ci receiver, JVC HRS-3902 VCR, Panasonic DMR-EZ27K DVD recorder, Dish Network receiver, and a JVC XV-N420 Pal/Region free DVD player.

4 Star Review Excellent product

Strengths:

Extremely versatile. Great database.

Weaknesses:

Took a lot of trial and error to get where I wanted it. Slight but noticeable time lag between the push of a button and sending the signal.

Posted 3 months ago - I have a fairly complicated setup and some equipment that is ten or more years old. To my surprise the database included every device that I wanted to use. Some of the operations I wanted to program were moderately complex, and it took a fair amount of time to get each one down pat. Instructions are good, but it's not always easy to find the ones you want. Tech support is English-challenged, but was able to point me to the proper documentation every time. All in all, an excellent choice!

5 Star Review Logitech Harmony One remote

Strengths:

ergonomic user frendly disign, lcd display, guided set up, rechargeable

Weaknesses:

pricey

Posted Jun 2, 2008 - It is a great product for home entertainments per Logitech web-site it has 225,000 devices in its database. It replaces around 5 different remotes at my house. Best of all it works with PS3 so I don't need to buy a PS3 remote and also works with my computer with Vista Ultimate on it. It takes some time to set up as it guides you through list of devices. Overall, well made product by Logitech.

5 Star Review Simple nice and cute

Strengths:

Does everything its supposed to

Weaknesses:

pricey

Posted Mar 28, 2008 - I got it to replace my Harmony 550. It has nice touchscreen with pretty good resolution. The screen is also colored. The shape is very ergonomic and a very smooth feel. Undoubtedly, regulates all of my components without a hitch. The buttons have also been paced strategically. Highly recommended.
