4 x 10/100Base-TX LAN, 1 x 10Base-T WAN - MPN: RP114
Strengths: - The blue box is small and easy to fit in the garbage - It came with a decent CAT5e cable
Weakness: - It only worked 25% of the time - It conflicted with COX.net's cable internet service - Power connector is big and bulky
Avoid this product. I have never had trouble with NetGear's products in the past (I own a hub that I have had for 3 years). However, this product was not well designed. I checked with the store where I purchased it (BestBuy) and a sales associate did confirm that the product seemed to be problematic with other users on COX.net.
Specifically I ran into an issue where the router would not send a constant MAC address to the cable modem (SurfBoard SB3100) and since Cox’s connection requires a set address in the modem’s memory, every time a problem occurred the modem would have to be powered down and restarted. I ran into this problem at least two times a day for a month.
I switched to a Linksys BEFSR41 and have not had any troubles.

TopStrengths: small sizes. easy to configure. works without problems with gaming like Medal of Honor and Half-Life
Weakness: it's not wireless. . .but you already know that.
this router is perfect for home owners looking to split their broadband connection as well as provide an extra level of security for users. The size is also nice. You can easily mount it under your desk or hide in on the floor.

TopStrengths: Very easy to use, very small compared to my old router/switch. Perfect for a small LAN network.
Weakness: It kept resetting itself over and over. Had to pull the plug on it for 24 hours before it stopped. Only happened once in the year that I owned it, but once is enouph.
Great product, wish it were wireless though. Was recommended to me by multiple people, so I bought it. I guess some people had problems with it, but I haven't really had any, aside for the resetting thing.

TopStrengths: Reliable Hardware, Solid Documentation, Stable Software, great website support.
Weaknesses: In 4 years the only problem I ever had was with one guy on their tech support phone, and he really should never have been hired. I find no weaknesses with the router, period.
Summary: I love this router ! I connect it to a cable modem and three PC's. I have never had any hardware problems and have flashed in a BIOS upgrade once, a year or so ago. Since then it has been up, up, up !

Netgear Cable/DSL Web Safe Router
Strengths: I don't have COX.net and would recommend not buying this equipment if you do. Great piece of equipment for small home networks! No problems. Has an updatable rom to upload.
Weakness: Could not set your own IP by simply accessing and trying to program.
Even if you aren't connected to the internet it would still at least get your computers linked together. I would recommend anyone to buy this product, It has never reset since the new rom was uploaded. I really have not experienced any problems at all.
