lsherris - (February 12, 2005) Tanita makes professional scales and body measuring systems that cost $1500-$2500. Supposedly we get the same technology in a very affordable personal model. I am actually quite impressed with this scale. Set up and use is very simple. I have gone through several bathroom scales in the past few years (which cost as much as this scale) because they have been inconsistent. On these scales my weight varies by as much as three pounds from minute to minute. The Tanita scale measures to the nearest 0.2 pounds, and from minute to minute it is right on. The reproducibility is perfect. I also believe it is accurate since it correlated extremely well with the scale at my doctor's office. Bod

evilmonkey - (June 25, 2006) This is a really neat piece of health hardware. I really recommend it. When you are thinking about heading down the hall to the snack machine to get a Snickers bar at 9:30 in the morning you know that waiting for you at home is this black and steel beast, just waiting for your lard a** to step on it and let you know just how fat you really are. Just knowing it will give you feed back such as body fat% really keeps you honest.

jjmacs95 - (August 31, 2004) I would highly recommend this scale for anyone who has a family with more than two people in the household. It has individual controls for up to four members, and it even has a separate guest control.

3 Star Review Omron HBF-306C Body Fat Analyzer

ewanko - (06/01/2009) The Omron Body Fat Analyzer is an affordable, compact device that quickly measures one's body fat percentage and body mass index (BMI). The unit uses the Bioelectrical Impedance Method to estimate body fat percentage based on personal data including height, weight, gender and age. Prior to owning this monitor, I use a Tanita weighing scale with a body fat analyzer to track my body fat percentage. I know that body fat percentage fluctuates throughout the day, so I try to measure it at around the same time everyday (after waking up in the morning, for example). I can never get the Tanita and Omron to read the same. My Tanita always reads lower than the Omron. Not really knowing which reading is more accurate, I use readings as directional info to track if my body fat is trending lower or higher day-to-day.

5 Star Review Nice scale

Tshulthise - (11/21/2008) This scale seems to be pretty accurate. For high accuracy and repeatability you need to put the scale on a hard flat surface and leave it in the same place every time. If you don't you might get up to a 2 lb error if the floor is not firm and level. The body fat measurement seems to vary as much as 3% from day to day but I don't think there's any system that does much better than that. To get the best accuracy you need to test yourself at the same time of the day each time and make sure you do the same things leading up to the measurement... I.E. don't eat and measure one day then not eat the next time. Same for exercise or showering or sweaty feet or hands vs. dry, etc... If you follow those thoughts the results are very consistent and I beleve accurate. I put a 30 lb dumbell on the scale and it read 30.0. Pretty good for a home scale.
