Discussion of Mustek ScanExpress A3 Flatbed Scanner
Posted Jul 31, 2006 - I am wanting to scan 11 x 17 drawings (on vellum) that I can then email as PDF's, that can then be reviewed by architects, etc and marked up and then returned to me. The Mustex A3 scanner looks like a very inexpensive solution. However, I am wondering if the supplied software will allow me to convert to PDF's or if I will need additional software.
Discussion of Scanners
Posted Apr 23, 2006 - I can't grasp which scanner is best for films and slides. the Microtek is judged in the reviews as very slow and sometimes touchy. The canon is judged as good all around scanner but some say it is not good with film and some say it is not. The Microtek has a little better resolution: 4800 vs the 3200 for the Canon. I thought that I might as well get the finest resolution if it is to be archived forever. Who knows, perhaps in the future a 20x30inch picture might cost just $0.50 with a future printer? My main used would be for film and slide scanning. A somewhat distant second would be for OCR. Otherwise I don't use the scanner often. Does anyone have a opinion about a good film scanner that stays about the $100 level. Has anyone tried to scan a picture and turn it into a slide? I still like the large lifelike size of slides shown on a screen.
