Strengths:

Fast. Easy to setup and keep up-to-date. Doesn't degrade PC/application performance. Frequent updates.

Weaknesses:

Spyware detection and scanning not as good as products dedicated to this function. Sometimes reports that is wasn't able to delete an infected file when it actually did successfully delete.

Posted Jun 4, 2004 - I have used most of the other big name Anti-virus/Internet Security products and this is easily my favorite. As an IT Manager it is what I have deployed in my enterprise and so have most of my associates. I have noticed no degradation in system or application performance from the real-time scanning engine as I have experienced with other products. Also the updating takes place quietly in the background. I've had other products hang the PC while updating. Trend Micro provides frequent updates to combat the emerging threats. Setup is simple with an easy to understand interface (the installation defaults will do okay for many).

Posted Oct 4, 2004 - I have used PcCillin for over 2 years, on Windows 98, ME, and XP. I have installed it on over 13 computers and never had any of them freeze or decrease in performance. They update easily and often keeping the most up to date antivirus protection I have found. You must be carefull to download the proper one for operating system, that is important.

Strengths:

It is a secure product that does not inindate your computer with other software.

Weaknesses:

None to speak of, other than difficulty in finding the product in local stores.

Posted Jul 21, 2004 - The product provides amazing updates, tight security and it does not take over your system the way Norton or MacFeee products do. I am pleased with the security, the spam features and the firewall protection. Nice product.

Posted May 9, 2004 - This is an excellent program. I have used it since 2002 and have had wonderful protection for our systems. I run a small business and am a college professor. As such, I have a large volume of internet activity. PC-Cillin has allowed me to remain problem free since 2002. It is easy to use, easy to download and once installed, runs without quietly and effectively in the background. Highly recommended

Strengths:

Very easy to install. Gives protection from hackers at once. Combines antivirus, firewall and anti-spam protection in one program.

Weaknesses:

None that I have found so far.

Posted Jun 20, 2004 - I have previously used Norton Antivirus and Personal Fire Wall. This year I installed the new version of NAV with no problems, but when I tried to install NPF something caused it to block my access to the internet, forcing me to disable it to use the internet. After ten days and many hours working with their automated support trying to solve the problem I gave up and bought PC-cillin. Best decision I have made. PC-cillin installed perfectly in less than an hour. Configuration was very simple even for a non-tech person like me. All the features were working perfectly.Ran virus check and saw that the firewall protection also was working. Would recommend PC-cillin to anyone.

Posted Jul 16, 2004 - This product is very easy to get up and running. However it needs more options to set up the firewall and spyware filters. I have a product called Internet Cleanup which keeps alerting me that a spyware program called "DoubleClick" is still getting through and being installed on my computer. Also another program I have called SpyBot keeps picking up several keylogging cookies being installed on my machine. I use both programs to clean my machine after every internet session. I would recommend using PC CILLIN just for the anti-virus feature and look to other programs for a firewall and spyware detection and cleaning.

Being a previous Norton user, I find the weakness ...

Strengths:

Extremely east to set up. Default settings should be adequate for most users.

Weaknesses:

When sending protected data that is "caught" by PC-cillin you must go back to the interface to change the settings, and then you must re-enter your data and send again. Very time-consuming.

Posted Jun 15, 2004 - Being a previous Norton user, I find the weakness mentioned to be a big enough hassle that I am considering going back to Norton. Norton gives you the option to send your protected data without having to recreate everything after changing settings. PC-cillin doesn't seem to slow my system like Norton did, so there is a trade-off. If you are a Norton user and thinking of switching, I wouldn't. If you currently don't have anti-virus, PC-cillin is a good choice.

Posted May 25, 2004 - Comes with Antivirus, Personal Firewall, Email protection, SPAM scanner, Spyware remover...etc. Definitely worth the money! Also, PC-Cillin does not slow down your computer like Norton Antivirus does. I've used Norton Antivirus before, and I really noticed a big difference in term of my system speed after I switched to PC-Cillin. PC-Cillin is way faster! Highly recommanded!

Strengths:

None that I could find, it only worked for three hours. Looks cute but only locked up my connection.

Weaknesses:

Loaded this to a generic XP system at work.My connection started degraded to nothing. I read some scary things so I immediately uninstalled. Connection is not working still and support is pathetic.

Posted May 24, 2004 - If you look beyond the "new product hype" some people are having big problems with this. Thought I uninstalled it but my connection is still gone. System Restore didn't fix it so PCCillin must have screwed with Windows or something. This is my first experience with Trend Micro and it will be my last. The trial doesn't even work. Normally I would have tried to fix it, but they have a terrible support reputation. Try it if you like, my experience has been worse than bad!

Strengths:

Easy to install;unlike other Anti-virus products, it includes Firewall. It found viruses/worms other products couldn't detect.

Weaknesses:

Configuration not intutive.

Strengths:

Automatic Update and Outbreak Warnings. Beats the heck out of the other guys in the home PC arena. Nice for laptops that get connected to hotel networks.

Weaknesses:

Cumbersome to configure. Does not run on Windows Server. Whatever!
