Posted Mar 21, 2007 - This is by-far the best retail spy sweeper software. I have tried Ad-Aware & Symantec's version, and this is the easiest to use, and does not chew up too many computer resources. It notifies me when things are being updated in protected windows space, including bookmarks/links. It does prevent desired pop-ups at certain times, that I cannot figure out why. Sometimes I need to kill it in order to move on. But overall, I am quite happy with what it does. The GUI is very nice, and easy to navigate. They not only provide free updates of new spyware/adware for a year, but they also update the program to newer versions.

Spy Sweeper 5.5 will KILL your computer.

Posted Jun 26, 2007 - You wil not be Happy if you go form 4.5 to 5.5. The update killed 2 of my 4 computers before I could remove Spy Sweeper from them.

One of the better anti-spy tools out there

Posted Mar 28, 2008 - WebRoot is one of the better tools in the anti-spy marketplace. It does a good job of detecting and preventing spyware infections. So, in that sense, it does its job quite reasonably. Also, it is easy to use and update. The downside is that WebRoot, like most of its competitors in this space, consumes more system resources than you would hope. WebRoot is not as bad as some tools, but it still could be improved upon. In short, this is one of the better anti-spy tools out there, but it has some way to go in order to be my ideal spy fighter.

Spy Sweeper

Posted Jan 23, 2008 - I like this software in its price, installation, function and its customer support service. Got it free after rebate from circuit city two months ago and installed in my windows 2000 since. It works well for me. It does not slow down the system, which is really good. It detects most of the spyware and scan speed is great. Over all, i am very satisfied with this product from webroot.

Great job

Posted Dec 29, 2007 - Spy Sweeper successfully picked up junk that other products (from Microsoft and AdAware among others) failed to detect. I think a good active antivirus program is the best way to prevent your computer from getting infected, but if things slip through the net then Spy Sweeper does a good job of catching them. Just remember to "sweep" often.

A robust software that needs improvement

Posted Dec 26, 2007 - This is a small name software against spyware. It's robust and easy to use. But I am not sure what is the value added comparing to the free spy-bot SD. It is a resource hog and will slow your computer if your pc is an old one. The packing also needs improvement. I tried but cannot find any version number on the package at all!

Spy Sweeper

Posted Nov 11, 2007 - Webroot is one of the bests out there provide anti-spyware products. It can find spyware that are not detected by microsoft defender and some other major brands. It updates frequently to get the latest spyware definition. This could be one of the reasons that it is better than other anti-spyware. The free update works only for one year and then you need to renew it by paying again, though that's typical for most of the security software.

Not much impressed

Posted Oct 31, 2007 - I installed this hoping that it will catch all spy software on my laptop but I found that it made my computer slow and also it failed to detect spyware on my laptop. I unistalled and installed CA anti spyware and it found and removed spyware on my computer. Not very impressed with this software and pissed at waste of money on this.

Great product

Posted Sep 11, 2007 - I have used Adware for a long time to detect adware, but while it's a good product, I found some other spyware programs detected spyware on my hard drive that were undetected by adware. And other spyware software, while good at detection, often failed to remove the spyware, hence, I looked for a perfect spyware software that won't cripple my system and at the same time, would be able to keep my computer out of spyware. Webroot's Spysweeper, I found,was highly rated everywhere, but there was one problem: I would need to spend money on it. But as you can see, I broke down, and bought it, and let me tell you this: it's worth its value. It detected some spyware that wasn't even detect by any other freeware, and more importantly, removing them was a piece of cake. It's very light on my system, so I have to say, I am happy with my purchase. The peace of mind it gives is worth the price.

A monster resource hogger

Posted Sep 5, 2007 - Installed this software on my pentium M notebook which has 1 GB RAM and found that the Notebook will just go into hang mode after restart. The webroot software tooltip message says wait for 1 min but that min never completes. I tried opening my IE but it also hanged. I had to uninstall this software before my laptop worked again.

Awesome!!

Posted Jul 18, 2007 - This is probably the best anti-spyware software out there! It's always up to date, and it runs silently in the background. It finds spyware most of the free programs don't, and gets rid of them! I've never had a problem since switching to this.

Posted Jul 7, 2007 - Detected most of spyware that exist over the internet access. Blocked all spyware installations in testing. Works under Safe Mode and Limited account. The update subscription is valid for a year and keeps track all threats that is new.

Spy Sweeper 4.5 (Full Product)

Posted Jun 27, 2007 - I really like this software. It isn't bloated, it does what it needs to without slowing down the computer. Yes, the anti-piracy protection is a little annoying, but if you use it legitimately you shouldn't have anything to worry about. This software also has an optional virus scanner, which works well, and is worth the additional expense. All in all, I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to secure their machines from online threats.

Spy Sweeper 4.5

Posted Jun 24, 2007 - This software was free after mail-in-rebate so price was great. Installation was simple -- just popped in the CD and it did the rest. The anti-spyware feature is great and it was able to remove a whole lot of malware that was slowing down my computer. I'm not too satisfied with its anti-virus feature however as it seems to slow down my computer a bit.

Spy Sweeper

Posted Jun 1, 2007 - I tried many of anti-spyware software, commercal or non-commercial, and think Spy Sweeper is by far the best. It is very light and does not take up much computer resources, which is very important. Though it is very light, its functionality is powerful. At first I doubted about it, because of its brand name, but Spy Sweeper worked greater than other brands that have a good reputation.
