Strengths:

Non intrusive AntiVirus and Firewall.

Weaknesses:

Anti-spyware not so good.

Posted Jul 2, 2005 - This is my first Trend Micro software and was very happy to get this intstead of the usual Norton or McAfee. The support for wireless network feature is very helpful. Updates less hassle than McAfee. Get it FREE after rebates with no tax at either Amazon.com or Buy.com

Solid alternative to Norton Internet Security

Strengths:

Easy install; easy to use; solid protection; great Wi-Fi intrusion alert

Weaknesses:

Anti-spam email protection is not as good as Norton

Posted Aug 25, 2005 - My big complaint is minor. Norton does a great job splitting spam email into a separate folder. If Pc-Cillin did that, I'd bump their review up a notch. They are the first to offer Wi-Fi intrusion alert, which lets you know if someone is using your wireless bandwith. Cool feature, overall very good program.

Posted Dec 17, 2005 - loaded with no problems at all, only took a couple of minutes; seems to be working as is supposed to be; system has remained virus free; previously used another big name virus package, but am now switching all my computers to this

PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005 Win Media Pk

Strengths:

Can customize blocking internet sites. Updates frequently and is very good at finding malicious files. Does not seem to be a resource hog. Firewall works well.

Weaknesses:

Spyware scanner seems a bit buggy. I get an error message saying that the scanner hasn't loaded because it is still initializing but it scans anyway.

Posted Sep 12, 2005 - Overall I am quite pleased with PC-Cillin. It is a very robust package and does well for my needs. It is limited as to how many internet site you can block so if you are looking for porn filtering, this software is incomplete. For virus checking and playing well with other programs, I highly recommend this program.

Posted Mar 19, 2005 - I have used either NAV or McAfee exclusively and I have never had an easier non intrusive app for AV than PC –Cillen. I have other PC’s on my net with subscriptions still active with NAV 2004 and I’m seriously thinking of just dumping the remaining time for PC-Cillen BobM

Posted Aug 18, 2005 - PC-cillin seems to be performing its intended function. It informed me that I lacked a critical security patch & directed me to the Microsoft site two days before mass computers were infected. I have been frustrated at times by the slowness to update (56k modem), but it seems to go more quickly if I update each time I am notified. Also, the Wi-Fi intrusion detection is a useful feature. So far my computer has remained virus-free.

Great Product for Value

Strengths:

Excellent price and great packaging of internet security devices

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Nov 14, 2005 - This product is very easy to install, setup, and update. If you have worked with antivirus software, setup will be a breeze. The only issue I ran into with the product is the rebate. The rebate form asked for a tag from the box, but the product was not shipped in a box but rather a folder. Customer services was not very helpful either. I felt cheated on receiving the $25.00 rebate; buyer beware.

PC-Cillin

Strengths:

Easy to Install; Good customer support.

Weaknesses:

Although PC-Cillin found the trojan horse on my computer, it could not remove it. I had to contact customer support and manually remove it.

Posted Oct 29, 2005 - I am happy with this software. It was easy to install and it scanned very thoroughly. I was surprised to learn that although it found a trojan horse on my computer, it could not remove it. I did work with 3 different PC-Cillinsupport representatives, and they were all extremely helpful in getting the trojan horse removed.

Posted Nov 30, 2005 - Bought this PC-Cillin free,i began my first experience with PC-Cillin.Surprisingly, it works very well on my computer, easy installation, upgrading, and mostly importantly it runs faster at execution time than Norton programe which i have been long time using. Th timeliness of pattern file updates PC-cillin is fast (bootup and scanning), solid (no weird quirks or crashes) and highly configurable. I like it and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for certain programs.

It's The Best I've Used

Strengths:

Doesn't slow the PC, Scans incoming and outgoing e-mail, Scans for spyware, Includes firewall, updates several times daily

Posted Sep 14, 2005 - This is my second purchase of PC-Cillin Internet Security replacing Norton in both instances. Norton allowed two viruses (worms) through that I had to remove with a two year old trial version of PC-Cillin. After initial setup, PC-Cillin runs quietly in the background and is not heard from unless there's a virus found. Updates several times daily, so if there's a new threat, you'll receive the new definitions almost as soon as they are made available. The firewall works great and the spyware scan keeps things humming right along. I had forgotten how fast my PC really was!
