Strengths:

efficient spam and virus removals

Weaknesses:

still slows down the system

Posted 1 year ago - Well, I am quite satisfied with this McAfee total protection since it does its job removing spams and viruses about 80%. The only thing I still do not like about McAfee softwares is that my computer system suddenly becomes slow upon the software installation. McAfee would be much better if this weakness was corrected.

Still the best IMHO

Strengths:

Good protection, highly rated

Weaknesses:

License only good for 1 year

Posted 1 year ago - I've used various protection 'suites' over the years, and have never found any better than McAfee. The uninstall on the others always seems to leave bit and pieces around, but I've never had that happen with McAfee. I have never had anything go wrong from an attack and the software just plain does what it's suposed to do. If you have multiple PC's the price is good when you spread it out over the three machines. And if you're patient and wait for the sales and rebates you can get it for free. Free is always good, especially for a good product.

review for McAfee McAfee Total Protection 2009

Strengths:

faster speed than 2008 version take less memory than the old version

Weaknesses:

not compatible with Internet Explorer 8

Posted 1 year ago - I bought this McAfee McAfee Total Protection 2009 3 Users one week ago. It gave me some trouble when I installed using IE8. After chatting with CSR, I was told it is not compatible with IE8. Unbelievable.. finally I use firfox to install it successfully. The performance is good because I feel the computer running speed is faster than my old 2008 version. so I guess it take less memory. Generally I like this product except it gave me troubles when I installed it.

McAfee Total Protection 2009 3 Users

Strengths:

Excellent software with right sized foot print to run on any windows system. Very light weight and effective tool to remove malicious files.

Weaknesses:

Little pricey but with rebate it works fine.

Posted 1 year ago - powerful malware blocker. It has lots of features like network intrusion, spam filtering. I have McAfee products in the past and it gives you entire protection and piece of mind while working in today's internet worlds. It accurately detects all malware and malicious files that gets downloaded without your knowledge and removes them. Overall I promise this product will be very useful.

Great Protection

Strengths:

Trustworthy, fast scans, reliable, and customizable.

Weaknesses:

Slightly bloated and twice the file size as compared to previous versions.

Posted 1 year ago - I have used McAfee in the past and then switched to a free anti-virus, but quickly realized that they cannot compare. They used up too many resources and where not as effective. So I decided to go back to the trusty McAfee so I wouldn't have to worry about the effectiveness of free ware.

May be too much bloat for most users

Posted 1 year ago - This product is a good choice for those with multiple users on a home network, specifically with kids or teens whose surfing habits can be unpredictable to say the least. In addition to anti-virus/spyware protection (for which there are eqully good free alternatives), this suite offers features such as easy file/print sharing, file shredding, data password protection, basic data backup, spam filters, anti-phishing, etc. These components all come at a cost, however, in that they slow down system performance. But as some of us share networks and even computers with users of different levels of recklessness, the added protection might be worth the decrease in performance. Those who have compete control of their computers and impeccable internet usage habits might be better served with a simpler, lighter product.
