The DW735 13-inch thickness planer from DeWalt provides best in class surface finish through a one of a kind three knife cutter-head - even in hard to plane figured woods. At 96 or 179 cuts per inch, the DW735 offers the finist finish via the most cuts per inch available on a benchtop thickness planer. A fan-assisted chip ejection system aids in the removal of debris and prevents excess chips from marring your material. The unique automatic carriage lock minimizes the movement that causes snipe without engaging a lever before and after each pass. 5 Star Review DeWalt 13

Strengths:

Quality,Three blads,two speed

Weaknesses:

none so far

Posted Mar 15, 2007 - The DeWalt (DW735) 13" Planer is a litte more in price than other portable planer but worth every penny. With DeWalts quality,the three blades not two like most planers. Powerful 15amp motor. Also has two speed feed for a better finished board. With the optional chip collector cleanup is a snap.

I would have liked rollers on top but then I always want everything for free,

Posted Jan 4, 2005 - This has to be the best planer that is out there. It out performs some of the much larger planers hands down. If there was a better planner out there for under a grand I would have bought that one. After using this one you could not give me one of the others it is just that good. dray

2 Star Review Dont waste you money

Strengths:

chip expeller

Weaknesses:

Broken sprockets, terrible feed, overpriced

Posted Jan 14, 2007 - Been a cabinetmaker over 20 years, this machine has feed problems, you have to help the wood along which takes two guys. Called Dewalt and was told by rep to only use the slower speed which I did but still had feed problems. Disapointing for an expensive planer.
