My very first Kitchenaid stand mixer! Love it!
Sturdy due to its weight; sleek industrial look (not the black enamel/plastic cover); easy to attach the beaters & dough hook.
Bowl is a little difficult to attach on the mixer.
Posted May 11, 2008 - I was tired of having batter fly everywhere when I use the hand mixer, and finally decided to get this, and am so glad I did. It comes with a pouring shield, wire whip, and burnished flat beater and dough hook - takes no time at all to attach these. I liked that there is a little knob to hold the beaters/whip in place, compared to the other mixers where you had to turn it until you hear a click, and even then you're not entirely sure if it did "lock" in place. I was surprised that the instruction manual contains quite a lot of recipes, and a guide as to what speed to use for making different things. The mixer looks really sleek with its industrial design, and is heavy enough to not move when you're mixing something, but not so heavy that you can't move it around easily. However, I am still having problems with attaching the bowl - apparently you'd have to tilt it at an angle where the inside of the bowl faces you to get the "holes" on the bowl supports to fit over the locating pins, and then press the back of the bowl down to snap it in place. It makes a loud snap everytime and I don't quite like this. The bowl lift system is new to me as my mom had always used a tilt-head mixer; but I love that it is just so easy to use, and I don't have to worry about the mixer toppling over when tilting the head, as I used to with my mom's mixer! I've already used it to make the dough for french bread and cinnamon rolls, and they turned out great. Clean up was easy. I'm now deciding on what attachments to get for it, but I'll definitely get the mixer cover for it!
