Do not buy the magic bullet. It is a ripoff. It does not work! The only thing it can do is make smoothies and salsa. At least, thats all ive been succesful at making with the magic bullet. I tried making the chicken salad, and it turned out horribly. What ended up happening was that the bottom of the chicken salad ended up getting pureed and the top wasn't even mixed a bit! It really aggravates me that I spent 50 dollars on some over-hyped about blender that doesn't even work. I mean, REALLY. it is a blender! Not some culinary miracle. IT is a small blender!

Same problem as many, the gear in the base that transfers the power to the blade wore down 6 months after purchase. Used only 1-2 time per week at most. There might be hope though. I was thinking about ordering a base only on ebay, I saw this, someone selling a kit with two gear replacements for the blades, and one replacement for the base gear. The base one appears to be a hard clear plastic, not rubbery. I would think this would last longer. On the flip side, it might tear up the rubber gear on the blade more. Would give 5 stars if it lasted longer. Do a search on ebay for magic bullet and you'll find the kit.

Weakness: Terrible set of cross blades. After two weeks the blades were bent from frozen fruit. We know what we are doing. We used another blender for 27 years without harming the blades.
The Magic Bullet would be a wonderful product and if the company creates a set of strong, sturdy blades it will be worth buying. Wait until they do! Weakness: Gaskets break
Love the bullet, and gave it to everybody in my family last year. BUT the gasket breaks, and I can't find anywhere to buy extras. NOW the M/B comes with extras, but we oldies who bought early ones are stuck with broken gaskets. I can't get a response from the manufacturer as to where/how to get replacements.

My kids love the bullet. It is very easy for them to use. They are eating more fruit from eating fruit smoothies that they can make themselves. It makes the best chocolate shake. Very smooth. The egg salad comes out good, quick and easy.

The plastic gear in the motor unit has broken and I cannot find any replacement parts. I have used the unit for a full year and liked the way it worked, however the plastic gears should last longer than a year or parts should be easily available to purchase for replacement.
Customer service is poor. Beware of cheap construction.

Do a search on ebay, someone is finally selling replacement gears/teeth in a kit with 1 for the base and 2 for the blades. It's around $19 plus shipping.
At Last! I finally found someone selling them on EBAY. I bought a set and finally got my MB (that was out of comission for a while) to finally work again! If anyone is interested just type in Magic bullet gears (or similar, and you should find some being sold.

I usually make a single serving (for just me) of smoothie at a time, so this machine makes that very convenient. I can blend right into the cup, so clean-up is minimal. As for chopping, I found that garlic and onion tended to stick to the sides of the container after it was chopped, so it doesn't come out as easily as it looks on TV.

Strengths: Makes the best smoothies.
Weakness: Construction.
There are four rubber stubs on the bottom of the cross and flat blades. These interlock with the base unit which cause the blades to spin. Unfortunately, everytime you use the unit... a little bit of the rubber gets worn down. So, eventually the rubber stubs will totally wear down and the blade will not spin, which is exactly what happened to me after three months use. Granted I used the magic bullet almost every day to make a morning smoothy... although my Oster blender is still in my cupboard and works after years of use. In the end I am left with two blades that don't spin when locked into the powerbase, so basically I'm left with nothing. I've searched for replacements blades... but have come up empty. So now I have a power base, four party mugs, a big & small container, a blender/juicer attachment, some lids and a whole lot less cabinent space.

Strengths: Small convenient design, single serving mixer that doubles as a cup.
Weakness: Irreplacable plastic parts break easily.
On the top of its base unit there is a plastic gear that transfers the spinning motion to the blades. This piece is made of plastic and can shatter under regular use. My units gear shattered while mixing a protein drink (milk + powder) customer service only offer to sell me a new unit. I searched the internet for a replacement part with no luck. Now I’m stuck with all those added accessories which have been rendered useless due to a small plastic gear. BUYER BEWARE UNIT BREAKS EASILY.

So far my bullet has been bringing a lot of healthy quick joy to the table. I've only had it for a while, so I won't say too much about the wear and tear issues that I've seen with friends' bullets. I also have a tip for the 'frozen fruit bent blades issue' - push a few times, take cup off, give it a good shake and continue - just help the bullet a little with its hard work. I'm a vegan chef and blenders and food processors are great - but if you have to make yourself a quick one person portion, wheater it's pesto or a shake, the bullet's my friend!

TopThe Magic Bullet would be good if the plastic gears didn't wear so fast. I was only able to use my Magic Bullet for 3 months when the gears totally wore out. Cheaply made and very difficult to get replacement parts.
I spoke with Homeland Housewares and they referred me to Emson, because my Magic Bullet was purchased in a store. Emson is sending me out a new crossblade, because the rubber is wearing out on the bottom. Check out Homeland Housewares website to get contact information.

I can never get it to completely crush the ice. There are always big pieces of ice that don't get blended. Bought it just for smoothies so it totally useless to me. I was thinking of buying an ice crusher to crush ice first but I might as well buy something decent that does blending AND crushes the ice.

The magic bullet is great for smoothies and sorbets. I'm pretty sure it would be good for mixed drinks as well. However, it doesn't perform well with with actual food such as tomatoes, cheese... etc.

My wife and I love the bullet. It gets used at our home almost everyday and twice on some days. It consumes very little counter space and is very handy. However, it was produced with the wrong type of material which causes it to wearout prematurely. With this being so well known, why can't I find replacement parts?

I am seaching for the manufacturer right now. I want my money back! What a waste. Why create a product that is very useful then use cheap parts that renders it useless? My first clue should have been, when I saw used ones for sale. my sister commented, "maybe someone dropped it out of a window by mistake and needed it fixed. (Oh please, you know there's one in every family.) Anyway, No, "I said, "it didn't fall out of a window, it just fell apart, then some frustrated purchaser wanted to throw it out of a window (but came to their senses and sent it back, instead.) This is totally unexceptable, because a good idea is only as good as it's usefulness. Otherwise, it's just a waste of time, energy. space and of course, money!

TopStrengths: It's very easy to use. Uncomplicated. No learning curve. One of my favorite things is that it allows you to remove the blades to empty the jar. Love that it is compact.
Weakness: Plastic containers instead of heavy glass.
I love the Magic Bullet. It's very easy to use and takes up very little space on the counter. It allowed me to put away my blender and food chopper. I waited for months before I bought it and I wish I had gotten it sooner.

For the price, this product does what it is advertised to do. It certainly can do all the chopping and blending required but I found the juice extractor as not worth the effort and time of preparing the fruit to get it ready for the Magic Bullet. The small footprint and combination of being able to do many tasks makes it a buy in my book.

This blender may be small in stature but it is large in strength. It is so powerful and so fast. I was also happy to discover it was easy to clean. I am so pleased with my purchase I think it was well worth the money. It replaced all the other appliances laying around on my countertop. I only had one complaint I felt it was a little too small but I have since been informed that they have increased the size of the mixing cup.

i purchased the magic bullet because our family like to have milk shakes/smoothies frequently. We make our "energy drinks" for breakfast every morning. this product was recommended to me by a friend to make sure the supplement we use gets mixed in properly. I was surprised to learn that it does so much more. It will grind coffee and does pretty well as a food chopper. I am definitely impressed and love using it everyday.

clear plastic gear froze up. customer sevice said they never heard of that before, yeah right. i found plenty of reviews with same problem. i was able to fix it. turn the base over. take a flat screwdriver and hold the center. the gear has backwards threads, take it off, pull the 3 rubber stoppers off, unscrew the 3 screws under them.use locktight on the 4 little screws that hold the motor up. put back together.

I purchased the bullet in Canada and after just over 1 year of use, the blade broke. I contacted the manufacturer who told me they will not ship replacement parts to Canada. They told me to call the store where I purchased it. I called the store and they said they never carry any replacement parts for the bullet and I should contact the manufacturer. I called the manufacturer back and they basically said tough luck. What horrible customer service. I liked the product while it was working, but it only lasted just long enough for the warranty to expire. Now I have to pay for a whole new one because they refuse to sell me a replacement part because I live in Canada. Be ware. Never purchase this product if you're not in the US. I deffinitely won't be buying another one.

after purchasing my first magic bullet to go and it never worked I shelved it and thought to deal with it later, I was in a hurry to have this machine. I thought I would be smart and order direct from the manufacturer. Guess what? It too was unusable. After contacting the manufacturer, I was told, of course you can return it but will keep a fee of $39.99 shipping fee. In other words, I pay them $39.99 for the privilege of owning a broken machine. Then, on top of this, I was expected to pay for the return shipping as well. I was disturbed and expressed to them that THEY are responsible. Finally, they sent me after several weeks, a shipping label. I shipped that machine and the previous broken one back to them. I have never heard a single word, have not received a refund. I see prices on the net from $50 to $60 dollars. My machine had a cost of $117.00. This was ordered originally August 31, 12011

I have tried my Magic Bullet Express many times. Every time it has leaked to the point that whatever is in there winds up in the machine and on the counter and floor.
I know I am attaching the lid correctly and tightly. I have checked that every time after the first flood (orange juice and organic raspberries). I've even tried it with just water, shaking the heck out of the cup with the blades screwed on. It didn't leak a drop until I attached it to the base. Then, the flood.
Off to go clean up the last stick messy from the Magic Mess Maker!

Unable to find gasket replacements. I've had my Magic
Bullet for 5 months now and I use it twice a day to make fruit smoothies. With this amount of use the four gaskets that came with the product were soon worn out. I contacted Homeland Housewares about replacements but there aren't any.
Great design but someone was asleep at the wheel when it came to "replacement parts". Surely they didn't think 4 gaskets would last the lifetime of their product.
I'm left with only one option, purchase a new one, which I won't do.
There are other drink mixers on the market just as good if not better & with access to replacement parts.
Back to the drawing board, guys.

TopStrengths: Thoroughly crushes whatever you put in it! Including ice...no chunks whatsoever.
Weakness: I NEED GASKETS! Be very careful that your gaskets are completely seated before turning it on. Replacements are hard to find, and chunks of rubber will ruin your drink.
Another reviewer said it would not crush ice. It might not completely crush ice in 10 seconds like the informercial...But if you listen and let it continue to blend until there are no "rattling" sounds (about 20 seconds) the ice will be thoroughly crushed. It has completely replaced our regular blender that never really did the job.

I bought my first magic pullet and loved it however my first one broke. The blades were weak. I loved it so much for my easy smoothies for one that I bought another. Again, the blades broke and the rubber stoppers on the bottom fell off. So, again, I bought a third after 6 months and thought if this think breaks again then I am NOT buying another. Well, after a week, my blades broke again and I am fed up. I would not recommend buying this product and using a blender for smoothies. It isn't worth paying $50 every year. It would be nice if replacement parts would be available.

Weakness: I'm worried, partly from others' reviews, about critical parts being made of plastic. Not sure how long it will last.
This is the most amazing kitchen appliance ever, especially for singles or couples who want to make small quantities. It has truly replaced our coffee grinder, spice grinder, blender, and juicer. It also does things with the small-cup attachment that you just can't do in a normal blender, because in the blender things would just bounce around (in the small cup they bounce immediately off the walls and back into the blades). For example it truly does grate diced Parmesan cheese, though I am a bit worried that this is too brutal for this appliance. It is wonderful for making tiny quantities of whipped cream that you would never bother to try with a hand mixer (there wouldn't be enough to mix).
I have one of the newer units I think, with a hard plastic gear in the base and spare gaskets, though the gaskets don't seem to wear much. The only fault with my unit was that the bottom of the blender leaked because its edge was too rough. I sanded it lightly with a sanding block using fine sandpaper and the leak stopped totally. So they could probably get more customer satisfaction by machining this part better.
Once again, it's ideal for singles and couples who make small amounts of things. It replaces a whole shelf full of appliances. We will see how long it lasts. But hey, maybe the reason they make you buy two is that at this price, you can afford to use the second one for spare parts.

The Magic Bullet is a compact blender, chopper, juicer. It has easy to use and store components that are top rack dishwasher safe and allow you to quickly use it to replace knives and bulky foodprocessors. Now I can chop and blend things easily, when before I may have passed on preparing healthier food because it is a hassle to get out full size food processor. The Magic Bullet lives up to its advertising.

Weakness: It takes more than 10 seconds and you have to shake the cupt sometimes while mixing.
I enjoy cooking healthy meal more. It's fun to make drinks, dips, etc. It's a great product. I wasn't sure if it would be easy to use like demonstrated on TV, but once I get it, I realized how easy to use it and fun to make so many things. I've never seen any blenders like this.

I didn't have the problems with the plastic base transfer gear, like others because the unit stopped working after about 3-4 months. We used it daily (1-2 times) to mix ice containing drings mainly, which does put additional stress on the motor, but isn't that one of the key marketing points? NOT very impressed with the quality of construction. Good if willing to buy a new unit every 3-6 months.

The other day I bought the Magic Bullet and it worked very, very good. I had lots of fun with it. You will have lots of fun with your family and friends if you buy the magic bullet. I tried many different fruit drinks. It is not a piece of junk its a piece of art.

Weakness: Does not grind frozen fruit as well as I thought it would
My wife and I use the Magic Bullet to mix our sports drinks in the morning. The Magic Bullet does this so effortlessly and all of the products are mixed thoroughly. Cleanup is a breeze, we even bought an extra one for the times we are apart due to travel.
We are looking forward to using it when we have company.

When I received mine, I was missing one of the inexpensive plasic gaskets, but since I didn't buy it directly from Homeland Housewares, they not only won't send me the 25 cent missing part as a customer service, they won't even let me buy it without much pain... read the following from their last email...
"If you wish to purchase replacement parts without proof of purchase, we will need to first identify if your Magic Bullet is actually manufactured by Homeland Housewares. Please send us a copy of the following pages from your 10-Second Recipe book and User guide as follows:
