Strengths: Tight pinball action that's easy to pick up and play
Weakness: Not all the tables are great; younger gamers may not fully appreciate the game
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottleib Collection originally debuted on the consoles, but found a new home on the PSP. This version sports extra features/tables, as well as crisper visuals and some tweaks to the gameplay formula. The game even gives you the option of switching to a vertical view, taking advantage of the PSP's long screen. It's a bit unwieldy to play in this mode, but it's a cool option nonetheless. Overall, Pinball Hall of Fame is a fun game to jump right into, though gamers familiar with the actual tables featured will probably reap the most enjoyment.

TopStrengths: accurate rendering of original tables, ball physics
Weakness: nudge physics, "credit" based system
This is a nice collection of older, real pinball machine simulations…even some that I played as a kid. The tables are replicated very well and they look great on the PSP screen. The only comment about graphics is even though there are a few different views you can play from, some of them loose a bit of the detail you’d like to have at the tops of the tables. The ball physics are really good as are the bumper and flipper physics. The only physics that don’t work to well is the nudge control, it’s really hard to get that right between no movement to too much (tilt). So I just tend to play straight up.
Just wanted to let people know that you don't get all tables at the start of the game. You have to either earn enough credits or break a predetermined score to open more tables. Keep at it, it's worth it.

Strengths: 10 classic pinball tables recreated pretty well for a handheld system
Weakness: Still not quite the real thing
As far as pinball recreations in video game form go, Pinball Hall of Fame Gottleib Collection is one of the better ones. It features 10 classic pinball tables ranging from 1957 on up. Just like the original pinball machines, some are more fun than others but all of them have been recreated about as well as you could hope on the little PSP screen. A little sharper graphics would have been nice but is probably a limitation of the system. Otherwise, the usual problems that crop up in all pinball recreations are present and unavoidable - the lack of a real physical feel to the game and the inability to view the entire table at once in high detail. These aren't problems with this game in particular, just in video game representations of real pinball machines. However, the developer did a very good job here of recreating the experience and making it such that you require the same skill to do well on these versions as on the originals. There is also a lot of information provided about each table, including original fliers and narrated tips on how to approach getting the best scores. The game also allows you to share some of the tables via wireless link with a friend's PSP, which is a nice touch. Overall, this is a solid title for those who may have played some of these original pinball classics (such as Genie, Black Hole, and El Dorado) or even those just looking for a little pinball action without having to drop too many quarters (the game came out at just $19.99 and can be found much cheaper now).
