Strengths: Great graphics and gameplay
Weakness: Rather short
Daxter is a great portable platformer available on the PSP platform. It is based on the Jak and Daxter series and shares the same great gameplay with its PS2 console counterparts.
Graphics is smooth and background music is excellent. Gameplay is very addictive and enjoyable. One drawback is the occasional, awkward camera angle/zoom, and the lack of subtitles during movie mode.
At any rate, Daxter is an excellent game. A sure entertainer for the entire family.

TopStrengths: Good Level Design, Graphics & Presentation
Weakness: Story
Daxter gets a chance to step into the limelight after being a sidekick to Jak on the Playstation 2 series in the selftitled game named after him. The one thing that should be said first about Daxter is that it is a platformer first and foremost which is good as the level design is done extremely well. The game itself is kind of on the easy side overall but is still topnotch.
I would highly recommend Daxter to anybody that owns a PSP as it's easily one of the better looking games on the system doing everything well the only complain one could have is that the story is lacking but overall that is a small thing to complain about in a 3D platformer.

TopStrengths: Graphics/ Gameplay/ Level Design/ Humor
Weakness: There are no subtitles when the charcters are speaking.
Daxter is an easy game to pick up and play. It it fun and sometimes challenging, but it is never difficult enough to be frustrating. The graphics are very good and are comparable to games on the PS2 and Gamecube. One of the great things about Daxter is the humor spread throughout, from Daxter's wisecracks when he zaps a bug, to his interaction with the other characters. One of the most fun things about Daxter are his dream sequences. I don't spoil too much, but in his first, he takes the place of Neo from the Matrix movies. My only complaint about this game, and it is not a big complaint at all, is that there are no subtitles when the characters are talking. It's not a big complaint, but it makes it difficult to play when I'm somewhere where I can't have the volume turned all the way up. I would highly recommend Daxter to any PSP owners, it is one of the most enjoyable games I have for my PSP.

TopStrengths: *Great graphics *No lagging *Fun Plot & Gameplay *Suitable for Children & Adults
Weakness: *Camera mode (wish I could change from the first player view or have more viewing scope of my area)
I needed to buy a game for my PSP and I wanted it to be a game that was fun and classic, something that I would go back to playing again and again and won't regret buying. I ended up buying this title after much research and review. This was one of the top games and was rated in the top 2 by GameSpot. I read alot of positive reviews about this game and decided on this title. I bought mine from FamVid for an absolute great deal. They sold it brand new to me after a coupon for $15 -- that's $2 less than what I would have to pay at a local game store for a USED copy.
The game starts off with a story about what's going on. Then you play in a first-player role as Daxter. You are guided to a ray of light where you meet your employer who wants to hire you as an exterminator because being an exterminator can be a dangerous job, and the previous employees were either eaten alive by the pests or quitted. So, you get a mission to destroy pests. You first start off with simple weapons and eventually upgrade to a gun. You also eventually learn new moves. There are always different missions and if you die during one, you can start it all over again. You have unlimited lives. In my opinion, the game seems fun. I wasn't able to finish playing it because I keep getting motion sickness from running around killing in first player view. It really absorbed me into the game. It's really fun when you're doing crazy jumps and moves just to try to kill the pests. I find it challenging as well and good for mental exercise because sometimes you have to figure out how to finish a mission. I get stuck sometimes trying to figure out where the exit is and these things can challenge your mind to think and solve. It's really fun. This is very suitable for kids because you're only killing bugs and there's no gory or explicit blood details or anything.

TopStrengths: great graphics, smooth animation
Weakness: short?
As a lot of reviews have stated, I picked up this title based on recommendations and a price drop due to it being a Greatest Hit title now. This is my first title based from the Jax and Dexter franchise and I’m enjoying it. Graphics are smooth and detailed on both the characters and backgrounds, load times are better than the other PSP games I’ve played so far.
Gameplay and weapons are fun to use/experiment with and Daxter is an amusing character himself. Controls are good and on par with other titles in this genre. There’s not much to the story line but it’s enough to keep the game going.
There appears to be some concern about the minigames being too hard, but not being a hardcore gamer (time for only few hours per week), I didn’t find them overly difficult to the point of frustration. They’re also a fun part of the game as the cutscenes take Daxter and puts him into well known movie sequences.

TopStrengths: Excellent platrformer for the PSP
Weakness: Camera occasionally an issue.
Jak is an excellent platformer. The fact that it's on the PSP is even better, since I personally havn't found many platformers on the system that I really liked. Jak looks great, and has very engaging gameplay. Even after the game is over, there's a multiplayer portion which gives it a little extra life. It's not too deep, but it's better than nothing. Occasionally the camera is an issue o the small PSP screen. But it works well most of the time.

TopStrengths: precise controls; fun attitude
Weakness: straight adherence to the genre, no significant additions
Success has many fathers. In the case of Daxter, he was born from Jak, the mildly successful franchise that started on the PS2. Inheriting the solid genetics of its parent, Daxter's own learned attributes creates a platformer that shines very bright on the PSP.
Daxter is constructed as the more fun loving avatar of jak. Bright colorful graphics paints a playful atmosphere that never dissipates from beginning to end. Platformers rely on one thing that triumphs all other priorities--prcecise controls, and Daxter does this beautifully. Using the analog nub in conjunction with the digital controls is easy and comforting. The physics of the character behave exactly as you want, with jumps performed with ease and other more complex moves working beautifully with the face buttons.
By nailing the critical area of controls, it seems as though Daxter breathe in a sigh of complacency in regards to the trimmings. There is no significant contribution to the platform genre. It doesn't introduce the third person action elements like Ratchet or the reintroduction of elemental variables like powerups in the New Super Mario Bros. Instead, it rests content on being a faithful representation of the platform genre.
There is nothing wrong with being yourself. Daxter though could have provided more of an incentive for gamers by slowly introducing incremental changes and not being so straight up. Maybe that is part of the franchise's intents later on its PSP life and I bet willing gamers are looking forward to that revolutionary jump.

TopStrengths: Great Graphics, Play and Design.
Weakness: Short and harder mini games.
The game have realy nice graphics. Multiplayer robot wars are awesome. quick response and fast loading game. You have access of all weapons. The game is short but still lots of fun. Over all I am pretty happy with this game. I would like recommend it.

TopStrengths: gameplay, graphics, lighter mood
Weakness: no jak, no guns like in Jak 2 & 3
After Jak and Daxter, the series went GTA on us. Jak II & 3 overwent a open world make-over---some may argue for the worst. Jak got grittier, the world got gritter, and guns became the norm. If you're looking for a return to the tone of Jak and Daxter, you'll be disappointed. Daxter takes place after Jak II. Jak is missing and you take the role of Daxter trying exploring the city for Jak. You have access to weapons such as a flamethrower shown on the cover. The game is very similar looking to Jak II but the huge differences is that the difficulty have been toned down a notch. If you enjoyed Jak II, pick this game up.

TopStrengths: You got to use Daxter instead of Jak. Graphics were the best yet! Storyline was good and price was not to bad compared to other games in the same category.
Weakness: The fact that Jak got kidnapped. User controls are kind of limited, could have given the characters more realistic weapons.
Overall I was very happy with this game. I would definitely recommend it, as it was recommended to me. It wasn't too hard and also I have not beat it in one day (but I tried!) To all Jak and Daxter fans, this is the best one yet!

TopStrengths: Great gameplay, nice graphics
Weakness: Relatively short
Daxter is without a doubt a must-own game on the PSP. If you've played any of the Jak & Daxter games on the PS2, you know how great of a platforming series this is. Well, even though the premise of this game is a little lacking and you're left with only Daxter, the game does a great job of bringing all the great aspects of the series into portable form.
Everything that you've come to expect from the series is here. You've got great animation, enjoyable platforming, solid controls, and mini-games that mix up the action. And best of all, this is a completely original game that is not just a port of an existing PS2 game.
Seriously, if you have a PSP and you enjoy platformers even slightly, you owe it to yourself to add this game to your collection.

TopStrengths: Excellent graphincs and control, amusing storyline, and creative level design
Weakness: Too short and little replay value
This 3D platformer is the best the PSP has to offer. It is not crippled by camera problems, it has quick load sequences, and the graphics are on par with the PS2. With that said, the game plays extremely well; with good level design, funny story sequences, respectable enemies and enough puzzles to keep you thinking.
The game is a little easy and the inclusion of check points lowers the level difficulty considerably. Also the game is pretty linear and short, but the fun is not lost due to this.
This a great game and a must have for any PSP owner.

TopStrengths: Enjoyable platformer in portable form, great graphics, almost no load times
Weakness: A bit short, repetetive
First of all, I want to state that this is simply one of the best PSP titles released to date. If you like the Jak & Daxter series on the Playstation 2, this is a no-brainer purchase for your PSP.
The star of this game is the diminutive sidekick Daxter, who is trying to free Jak from prison. He takes on a job as a bug exterminator. This gives him some unique weapons and means of transportation in the form of an electric fly swatter, and a bug sprayer with various attachments (which he can use to hover).
The game takes place in the oh-so-familiar Haven City from the console games. The slightly inferior capabilities of the PSP make the city seem a little less detailed and much emptier, but that is not a major concern. Unlike in the console games, very little of the action takes place in the city - it is really just a place to collect bonus precursor orbs. Most of the levels are accessed via doors within the city. Most of these levels are basic platforming action that can become a bit repetitive. However, there are a few vehicle portions that break up the action. There is one level, in particular, which is quite enjoyable as you have to jump from one moving car to another in a subway.
In each level, you fight bugs to collect the yellow things that pop out of them and also to pick up the precursor orbs scattered about the level. The precursor orbs unlock dream sequences that are clever and amusing - they are basically timed button pressing mini-games featuring themes from popular movies. The 2 from Lord of the Rings are particularly amusing, though all of them are well done. These games are important to play through and win because they unlock special moves and extra health bar pieces (which are critical).
In the normal game there are several boss fights. Though the game never gets extremely difficult, some of the boss fights can be challenging. It will also be very hard to get 100% of the precursor orbs as they are very easy to miss.
The game is a little on the short side (20 hours at most). You can extend the gameplay by collecting all the orbs and other items. In each level are special bugs, which you can use in multiplayer battles. One of the most impressive features of this game are the quick, streaming, and nearly seemless loads which are done when you move from one area to another.

TopStrengths: Great graphics, well implemented mission structure, controls well and is fun and well designed
Weakness: Somewhat weak story. A solid game but it doesn't really provide anything new and surprising
Daxter is, thankfully, a unique adventure created solely for the PSP. Most of the existing PSP library of ported games do not appeal to me, so after reading some good reviews I purchased this game for a trip and it has proved to be a very worthy purchase. The game features very nice graphics and fluid animation - something the PSP excels at. Also, the load times are reasonable and well planned. Daxter is a pretty basic platform/action game where the main character acquires new skills as he advances toward his goal. The story is pretty uninspiring but it's the gameplay that really shines. You are basically fighting bugs for much of the game but the attacks that Daxter possesses and acquires are fun to execute and obtain. Many upgraded abilities are earned through minigames in the form of dream sequences that are fun little take-offs of popular movies, etc. Overall, Daxter is currently one of the best offerings on the PSP and I can recommend it as a purchase.

Topit is the best game and your right because i got it
Strengths: PS2 Quality Graphics Great Gameplay Fits well into Jak Series
Weakness: Mini-Games Too Hard
This is definitly the best platformer for the PSP to date, and comes a 2nd to Lumines overall.
If you enjoy PS2 platformers like the Jak and Ratchet/Clank series, you will most likely enjoy this.
Drawback is mini-games can be frustrating. If you are not good at DDR type timing, it can be difficult. On the upside, the themes of the mini-games are excellent.
Includes additional multiplayer TBS Robot Wars, which looks neat, but have not played much of it to date.

I loved the Jak and Daxter series on the PlayStation 2. The series has such a great storyline, beautiful graphics, and severe lack of major loading times that made this game a blast to play. I loved the series from the minute I booted up the first game until I saw the ending credits of the last one. I was sad to see the trilogy compete, but curious to know what lay ahead for it. Thankfully I was...

Daxter
Strengths: Gameplay, graphics, control
Weakness: A bit short
Daxter is one of the best platformers on the PSP platform. It is based on the Jak series from the PS2 platform. You play the sidekick Daxter working as a bug exterminator in the Haven City with the final goal to free Jak. Although there are many missions in the game, they tend to be short. There is a 'dream' level in which Daxter takes on a Matrix like battle in his dream. This one is both fun to play and look at, and a delighted side quest away from the similar, repetitive platformer oriented levels.
Daxter is simply awesome and a worthly addition to your PSP game library.
