My Katamari

Strengths: Unique gameplay that is Katamari - graphics are just as good as on the ps2

Weakness: Initial learning curve of new control schema

As a fan of the PS2 incarnations of Katamari, I was delighted when the PSP version was released. Portable Katamari!
Gameplay wise, nothing has changed. You are still the small Prince with a ball that rolls around sticking to objects - growing larger and larger.
But I don't want the formula to change, its great as it is.
The fun quirky music from the original has made its way over to the PSP version as well.
Bottomline - if you have a psp and like quirky japanese games, grab this.

ONE Good reason for owning a PSP

Strengths: FUN, addicting Gameplay, Great tacking japanese J-pop music.

Weakness: Controller takes a bit to get use to.

If you ever play any game from the PS2 series, this game won't be no stranger to you. You basically roll and ball around to collect items and get it as big as possible, then the king of all cosmo turn it into a star you see in the sky. Story is simply as that.

PSP version is still just as fun as the PS2 version, but lacks the controls *no dual anlog stick* take a bit getting use to, but it will just fine.

there is also a bonus mini side-scroller game, worth playing.

If you love the series, consider picking this up.

The tiny prince on the small handheld.

Strengths: Fun gameplay, quirky Katamari atmosphere.

Weakness: Awkward controls.

The Katamari Damacy series makes its way to the PSP and it does a good job in fitting itself well enough onto the PSP. Controls are a little awkward at first, as the d-pad and face buttons replace the PS2's dual analog setup for movement, but Katamari vets will have little trouble rolling their Katamari here. There's a lot of fun to be had with many missions to tackle along with several cousins to unlock and other neat features like the original music from the first game on the PS2.

Portable Katamari

Strengths: Funny music, Nice Visuals & high replaybility

Weakness: Control Layout

This game is fun to play. Basically it's the same concept as in all Katamari games. You just roll around making stuff stick to a ball which just keeps on growing & can reach a size proportional to your skills.
Music & sound effects in the game itself are worth all the money you pay for it now that its normally available at a bargain price. But those who have played it on console will find the controls hindering the enjoyment of gameplay. I did not find it easy to get used to & they seem to be tacked on.
Still it's to the games credit that there is a great deal of reputability there. You feel like coming back to the same levels again & again.
So if you get addicted to this game - you were warned!

Roll Up While Your On The Roll

Strengths: Graphics, Control

Weakness: Slowdown, Repetitive Levels

Me And My Katamari takes the puzzle action gameplay gameplay from the Playstation 2 and put it in your pocket on the PSP.

You once again will be playing as the price and be rolling up stuff in every level in order to make your ball grown big. On the PSP you only have 1 analog stick so you have to use the face buttons in place of what you would use your right analog stick for on a Playstation 2 controller and while it's not as good as having duel analog sticks for control it does work surprising well as a substitute. While fun the biggest flaw would probably be that the levels are not as well put together as the levels in the Playstation 2 Katamari games and that they can get repetitive as you will play though levels that are basically variations of previous levels.

I would highly recommend Me and My Katamari to fans of the Playstation 2 Katamari games and fans of action puzzle games alike as while it's not as good as the Playstation 2 ports it's still a lot of fun even considering certain things that hold it back from being as great as it's big Playstation 2 brothers.

Me and My Katamari

Strengths: Unique gameplay

Weakness: Control

Me and My Katamari is a PSP version build upon the two successful Katamari games from the Playstation 2 platform. The unique and quirky gameplay is an instant success. In the game, you roll a growing ball made of objects and pick up larger and larger objects on the way. The gameplay is simply addictive. However, the control is different from the PS2 versions since there is only one analog stick on the PSP. As a result, the new control scheme takes a bit to get used to.

Great platformer game for psp

Strengths: Great colors and visuals

Weakness: control setting kind of hard to get used to

This game is one of the most funs of all times, from the series “I love katamary” for the PS2, this game brings the best of platform games. With unique quest and fun challenges makes this game full of hours of entertainment. With the colorful details and portability of the PSP this game is recommended for those who enjoy platform games and comical traits.

Me and My Katamari

Strengths: Nice portable version of Katamari - looks great on the PSP

Weakness: Due to limitations of PSP hardware, the control is difficult to get used to

Katamari Damacy started off as a quirky budget title on the Playstation 2 and has since spawned a sequel, this PSP version, and an Xbox 360 game. Each one has the same addictive core Katamari gameplay and this version, of course, has the advantage of being portable. As such it is a great title. The simple, colorful graphics translate well to the PSP screen and the game looks great. The big drawback of this version is the control scheme. Since the PSP lacks the dual analog sticks that the PS2 and 360 have, they mapped the left and right control to the digital pad and face buttons, respectively. Although this will be very disorienting for people who have played the console Katamaris, you will certainly get used to it over time. I was able to complete the game and get some pretty good scores despite the controls. When you complete the game you unlock the best credits sequence in the entire Katamari series: a "classic" 2D version of Katamari (made to look like an 80's arcade game). This is nearly worth the price of the main game itself.

All in all, this is a very good game hampered slightly by the control limitations of the PSP. It is well worth picking up for any Katamari fan out there.

Katamari Jr.

Strengths: Original, Creative, and Portable!

Weakness: Confusing PSP Controls

What can I say... this game is great! Fun and appropriate for all ages. Easy to play and very addictive. The only down side is that the PSP doesn't have two analog sticks, which would make the game a lot better. If you liked the other Katamari games, you will surely love this one. Me & My Katamari would be a great game to add to anyones PSP library.

Crazy Katamari Action

Strengths: +authentic/familiar katamari action +easy to pick up and play +unique style +crazy storyline

Weakness: -load times in levels -nothing really new -quick game -decent use of PSP controls

Katamari for the PSP plays the same as the PS2 version. The players’ objective is to take a Katamari ball and collect various items by rolling over them. Those objects become attached to the Katamari ball. As more and more items become attached to the Katamari, the ball will become larger and larger. Each level presents itself with a Katamari size requirement. Additionally players will be given specific items which they must roll over. To move the Katamari, players can use the analog stick and the face buttons.
The weird odd looking Katamari style has been beautifully captured on the PSP. Colors are bright, and everything is well designed. Loading is a problem in this game. While loading is accomplished quickly it is still annoying. The game is also quite short and can be completed in a couple hours. Those looking for a unique, fun, and short experience on the PSP, look no further than Me and My Katamari.

Me And My Katamari

Me and My Katamari opens with the King of All Cosmos once again frolicking around and accidentally destroying all sorts of stuff. While resting on Earth from his previous exertions, putting the stars and planets back in the sky, the King manages to whip up a tidal wave that wipes out an entire island chain. This act leaves many animals homeless and they petition the Prince to ask the King for...
