Near Perfect
Extremely addictive gameplay, great "on the go" gameplay style perfectly fits a handheld, top-notch music
Buggy, and the story is typical fantasy RPG
Posted Jun 29, 2007 - Puzzle Quest is one of the most addictive games I’ve played in a long time. On paper it doesn’t sound like much – take an RPG and combine it with Bejeweled. But play it, and it’s nearly impossible to put down. It gives the puzzle genre something it’s needed for a long time – a purpose. No longer are you matching gems just to kill some time, now you’re fighting a battle, gaining gold & experience, and building up your character. Get a friend addicted as well (which isn’t hard to do) and you can have some great 2-player matches. The only negative I can say about the game is that it has some bugs. For example, the companions you meet are supposed to give you a bonus in battle, but on the PSP version, they don’t. I have also experienced some occasional lock-ups, but thanks to the frequent auto-saves I’ve only lost time due to this once – and even then it was only a single battle. In the end, the bugs don’t come close to ruining the fun you’ll have with this game. This is an easy recommend to almost anyone.
