Excellent high-end sound card
Excellent sound quality, slight benefit in frame rate in some games
Cost, takes up a slot
Posted 1 year ago - The onboard sound on my motherboard was giving me fits with some games. Firmware updates didn't help. Decided it was time to go with a different hardware solution altogether. Went with a higher end card because my machine is an all-purpose box: DVDs, music, games. And I have decent Klipsch speakers that warrant a better-than-average card. This Creative card has not disappointed in that regard. Saw a definite but minimal improvement with CPU utilization too. Games that used to choke on audio (UT 3, I'm looking at you) now run appropriately. Costlier solution than some might require.
