2.1-channel - White - MPN: YSTMS50W
Strengths: Best multimedia speakers I have ever had, especially with this low price (below 30 after rebate). Strong bass, crisp sound. Altec Lansing ATP3 is only a piece of trash compared with it.
Weakness: Have not found out yet.
Strongly recommended!! I bought this because there is also a yamaha MS28 at my lab. The sound quality of MS28 convinced me believing that yamaha makes excellent speakers.
The MS50 actually outperform what I had expected.

TopStrengths: Clear, crisp, bright highs and mid-range
Weakness: Bass needs more power
Bought this speaker system about 3 weeks ago. Was very pleased with the clear, crisp bright highs and mid-range. Was disappointed with the power of the bass. For my tastes I had to turn it to almost full power for complete listening enjoyment. For an 80-watt system I had expected more.
Now for the bad news, after three weeks of use, the right satellite speaker developed an annoying crackling sound after about 5 minutes of use. Will be sending it back to Yamaha for replacement. Other than that, this speaker system is both pleasing to the eye and ear, not to mention the wallet. Paid only $59.00 at eCost.com. I recommend it to anyone interested in a quality sound system for their PC music system.

TopStrengths: Great price, Strong sound
Weakness: It is not a 5.1 system
This set has a strong sub when the volume is turned up. It is a little too weak when the vol is turned down. The satillite speakers are very crisp and cover a broad range. For the price you really can't beat these speakers.

TopStrengths: Best Computer Bass ever heard Better Bass than Klipsch 4.1 Get Damn Loud
Weakness: At High Volume (loud), Subwoofer Pops after LONG use. Not a 5.1 System
I owned these baby's long enough and so has my friend. We both have never had any big problems. After all this use, the sound is still great!

The Yamaha YSTMS50 is a speaker set with a slant-baffle design. Released in 2001 the speaker set delivers 80 watts of total power, 20 watts per satellite speaker (1kHz, 4 Ohms) and 40 watts for the subwoofer (100Hz, 5 Ohms). The satellite speakers are 2-way to enhance the highs of the sound. The speaker set includes magnetic shielding to prevent the internal mechanisms from causing monitor...

Yamaha YSTMS50W Speaker System
Strengths: excellent build quality, pleasing sound and ample power for a great price
Weakness: midrange is somewhat lacking, lowend is slightly hollow
I purchased this system for monitoring in a home DJ set up where space is tight and super loud sound is not required. While normally I would never buy any sort of speakers without hearing them first, I have a certain amount of trust for a basic level of quality from Yamaha and the low price made it an attractive option.
Having just set it up and tested for a short time I can say that I'm quite pleased with this system. Considering the size of the speakers I expected that the low end would be hollow, the midrange somewhat lacking and the highend bright. I was correct in my assumption, however the overall quality is pleasing, the highs are clear and relatively accurate for this sort of system and the bass has enough punch to handle the electronic dance music material I'll be playing through them most of the time.
While the amplifier supplies a total of 80 watts, I wouldn't push the speakers too hard as you'll just end up reducing the life span of the system or blowing something. Better to keep the level reasonable and allow a bit of headroom for occasional peak signals.
It's unusual that I'm using this system for DJ monitoring, I'm sure most people would use it for a computer set up where surround is not required or combined with a cd or mp3 player for a small, quality sound system. For such purposes I recommend this system highly.
