Bargain Home Theater Speakers!
Made by Cambridge SoundWorks. Price is a steal for the quality. THX certified. Upgradeable to 7.1. Compatible with external decoders/receivers. Includes wiring for optional DDTS-100 decoder or PC.
Amp built into sub, possibly restricting sub placement options. Deserves MUCH better wiring than what's provided. No adapters to connect speakers to other types of external decoders/receivers.
Posted Nov 19, 2005 - These speakers are the best-kept secret at Creative (who owns Cambridge SoundWorks). They are high-quality, modified Cambridge SoundWorks speakers marketed for PC use (the back of the sub even says, "Designed and Engineered by Cambridge Soundworks"). However, I have them set up (with a DDTS-100) in my living room as home theater speakers, and they really deliver; just make sure you budget for quality wiring. Believe the 25Hz-40kHz advertised range and THX certification. The cubes include titanium supertweeters to get the higher end. I am very pleased. You would be hard-pressed to find speakers that sound this good anywhere near this price. I also recommend the DDTS-100 decoder and the MT-1200 speaker stands, both available from Creative. Other receivers/decoders work, but require adapters easily found at your local RadioShack.
