Loud enough

Strengths:

Matrix mode creates 5.1-channel sound from a 2-channel source.

Posted Oct 1, 2007 - There a lot difference than older 5.1 speaker system. This new Frequency Directed Dual Driver (FDD2) technology could be observed after testing my Creative 5.1 system. Loud enough in my work room. Had to buy extension speaker wires for the two back speakers. Wired remote very useful. Attached to a DVD player and protable DVD player and still got that cool 5.1 audio output.

Wow!!! Great sounding speakers

Strengths:

Nice bass, options for mounting speakers, easy connections, good looks

Weaknesses:

woofer cone is easy to break, short cables

Posted Apr 24, 2007 - Nice sounding bass which is great for games. Comes with cable adapter to plug in video games. The speaker cable terminations are color coded which makes it easy to install with a PC that has 5.1 or 7.1 connections. The speakers have good looks with black color and have good quality finish. The center speakers can be placed on edge of LCD screen, which is how I installed mine. The satellite speakers can be desk or wall mounted (the base rotates to make this easy). I was concerned when I picked up the woofer. I held it from the base, only to feel that I was pulling from the woofer cone. Not a shortcoming, but better be safe when moving the woofer. I wish the cables were about 3 feet longer, at least for the back channels. This was easily fixed by purchasing extender cables at the local electronics store. Did I say wow?!?! These speaker system sounds great for the price paid.

Posted Feb 21, 2008 - I like it very much and will buy it more and more and more X540 5.1 Speaker System (70 W/Channel).I wish the cables were about 3 feet longer, at least for the back channels. This was easily fixed by purchasing extender cables at the local electronics store. Did I say wow?!?! These speaker system sounds great for the price paid.

Strengths:

(1) They sound great! Nice, loud and clear (2) Rear speakers wire is actually long enough to place them behind your couch/wherever you sit (3) Wired volume control is nice

Weaknesses:

(1) The speakers are larger than other Logitech sets I have purchased (2) Volume control is wired on about 4ft long wire, not quite long enough to reach my coffee table - wireless would be very nice.

Posted Jun 1, 2007 - I now have three different Logitech 5.1 systems and this one is easily the best. The design of the speakers is nice and they are very powerful and loud. It's nice that they gave the rear speakers long enough wire so you can actually place them behind you, my other sets do not have long enough wire for this. The wired remote/volume/fader control is nice but I wish it was wireless or provided a longer wire. I got these for about half the retail price via a rebate special and am very satisfied with the quality of this system.

They sound amazing!

Posted Apr 5, 2007 - These speakers deliver great sound. The rotating stands made it extremely easy to position and mount to a wall. The subwoofer delivers excellent bass, partly because the speaker points down toward the floor. There's no cover over this speaker (why?), but there are rubber feet to prevent the scratching of any surfaces. The center speaker can clamp to the top of most LCD screens, which is a very nice touch. There's a handy feature called Matrix mode, which creates 5.1 surround sound from 2-channel sources. In other words, this feature makes your music come from all the speakers instead of just the front left and right. There is a control center (wired remote) that lets you control the master volume, bass level, a button to enable Matrix mode and gives you easy access to the headphone jack. The cord is only 5 feet long, but should be adequate for most users. This is a great system for the price and the features really set it apart from the others.

Best 5.1 speaker for the money

Strengths:

Powerful & clear sound, wired remote control. Excellent gaming speakers.

Weaknesses:

If only the speakers had detachable wires.

Posted Mar 9, 2007 - If you have room for 5.1 speaker system, get this one for value & quality. The only weakness I see is the attached wires to the speakers, I like mine to be detacheable.

Excellent Option At The Price - Logitech x540

Strengths:

Attractive price point Small Footprint Easy Installation

Posted Mar 6, 2007 - I bought this set to replace an old Cambridge Soundworks set from 6 years ago. I was looking at either a 2.1 system or a 5.1 system and I decided on this one because of the price. Installation was a snap. The speakers have RCA type inputs so no messing around with wires. The wires are a bit short though. So far, sound has been excellent, make sure you adjust the bass correctly or things sound a bit tiny. Overall great system at such a low price point (around $70 after rebate).

Great Sound

Posted Jul 10, 2007 - Pros: Clean, crisp sound that delivers both when it comes to game sounds, dialogue, or music. The sound is even through all the speakers, whether you compact the array or spread out the speakers to create a full-room sound. Cons: The speaker cables for the rear speakers were not long enough to track around walls very fall. It’s minor and petty.

Astonishing Sound Effect!

Posted May 9, 2007 - This is first 5.1 speaker I bought. The installation is very easy. The size of speaker is not that big, thus they can sit in a relatively small compter desk. The sound effect cannot be beat. It is extraodinarily good when I watch 5.1 dolby sound DVD. You won't be disappointed.

Nice Speaker for the price

Amazing

Strengths:

Posted 1 year ago - I love these things. They are loud! this is even better if u have a good soundcard like a creative labs x-fi xtreme gamer. it puts out a better sound clarity. i have no problems. I love it.

Strengths:

loud,good base,solid construction,built-in wall mount

Weaknesses:

speakers do not pivot (would be nice to be able to adjust angle to me), center speakers flat panel mount did not work for me on a 22" viewsonic

Posted Apr 22, 2007 - overall good performance (I upgraded from 2.1) front speaker wires are a little short but I had plenty of wire for the rears grille covers bend easy (mine center speaker was slightly damaged)

Strengths:

nice bass nice design on the speakers stand, which could be adjustable to stand or mount to the wall

Weaknesses:

the rear speakers cable was way too short

Posted Apr 15, 2007 - i got this speakers set for 49.99 dollars after rebate at circuit city. I think it is well worth the money for a 5.1 computer speaker system. but the rear cable is too short which can be easily solved by adding an extension cable.

Logitech speakers

Strengths:

Posted Apr 15, 2007 - I dont care a lot for these speakers. The bass is somewhat muddy and distorted. The mids are'nt to clear either. They look good and are at a good price point for 5.1 set. Also the power cord is a little bit short, but this has been the case with many of these types of sets. For this price though I am very satisfied with this set compared to others at the same price point.

Excellent PC speakers - Logitech X540

Strengths:

Beautiful sound. Easy-mountable speaker stands. Control center with headphone jack.

Weaknesses:

Posted Apr 8, 2007 - I bought this set to replace my Logitech X230. It might be just me, the whole setup took me 20 mins, mostly spent on the calibration with my sound card. After finally hooked it up with my Creative sound blaster X-Fi sound card, I was really impressed by the sound when I watched M.I. III on my computer. The only complaint I have is that the rear speakers' cords are a little bit too short for a middle size room as I have. Other than that, the speaker set is perfect for its price.
