Looks Good, Sounds Good.
None, so far.
Posted Jan 10, 2003 - After searching for prices and reviews over the Internet for 5.1 speakers, It came down to 2 speaker systems, Creative MegaWorks 510D and Monsoon MH505. The MegaWorks had high marks for it’s powerful subwoofer, but it was a little too pricy$$ and they look ugly too. I went down to Circuit City and was able to test some of the lower end speakers (under $100). It was not until then, that I could truly understand the difference in quality between these speakers. The clarity of the Monsoon MH 505 is remarkable when compared to some of the lower end systems. The Monsoon speakers look good and sound good with my Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy™ 5.1 Platinum sound card. You can even order speaker floor stands separately, which I plan on buying in the near future. They cost $100 bucks though. I want to set the rear speakers behind me at ear level for an enhanced gaming experience. This system weighs it at 120 Watts max. The small subwoofer generates deep and rich sound, but don't expect it to rattle the pictures off the wall. Don't get me wrong, this system will go loud enough to make your wife mad or help you lose your hearing. Overall, I am pleased with Monsoon's system. The Monsoon speaker system in my VW Golf sounds great too.
