Anemotion - (October 01, 2004) I decided to purchase the pioneer dvr108 oem version mainly because I heard and read of it's high compatablity in burning and that was the most important factor in my purchase. I ordered some ritek g04/g05 for there well known good price and high compatablity. I used the 1.14 firmware the software that I used was nero burning rom 6 that came with my old cdrw drive. Using ritek brand g04 I was able to burn them at 8x speed for 4x discs and they read fine. Also the g05s rated at 8x were able to burn at 12x! this is very quick (4x is around 15mins) To make all the burning speed available you can also flash it with a optional firmware. This is of course done at ur own risk. Mine wor

rogersoles - (September 21, 2004) GREAT value and GREAT performer. I purchased a Sony 18A a few months ago and it's a good drive; but the new NEC drive has better specs (twice the speed) and costs about the same (a little more -- but not much). I've burned a few DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD+RWs on the drive (various speeds), and one DVD+R DL (at $13.00 each I have to have something really valuable to do it) -- and it worked in every case. Perhaps there are better drives -- but there certainly aren't any better value ones... Indeed, I like it so much I ordered another one. This drive gets a thumbs up -- the only thing that might be an issue is firmware maintenance for newer dye substrates (but that will be some

jayhall0315 - (January 08, 2006) (Jan 6th, 2008) Every few months one of the five or so large drive manufacturers (Western Digital, Maxtor, Hitachi, etc) comes out with a new hard drive claiming revolutionary advancements. This crap is almost never true, but with the 150 GB Raptor we finally have a drive that trys to live up to some of its billing. If you are an enthusiast, power user, rich or just plain hate the slow boot times of Windows, then these Raptors are your ticket. The model I am reviewing here is the Raptor X and includes a clear window in the top plate. There is another version of the 150 GB Raptor as well, with the primary difference being that it does not have the window and is therefore quieter. Western Di

flbert - (11/22/2009) The Mini USB connector feels loose and keeps disconnecting. The USB cable is too short and is a proprietary technology. It's had to find a longer one. I recommend for the ones that bought this driver to careful plug the cable and don't move the drive during data transfer. Moreover, the software has poor resources. So, I'm frustrated with this product and I don't recommend it.

Highly recommended, but understand what you need
krwalker - (11/19/2009) Don't forget to verify your power supply has an available SATA power connector, or else get an adapter to plug into an IDE power connector. Currently does not support TRIM (keeps the drive high performing long-term) because Intel had trouble with their firmware update. Check news because in time Intel will figure this out. For Windows, TRIM will work only with Windows 7. When installing Windows, configure BIOS to use AHCI (instead of IDE), and do not use a disk defragment utility on it.
