Spyware software

Strengths:

Can update spyware definitions online. Has a pop-up blocker.

Weaknesses:

Only comes with a one year subscription of updates. Useless user manual.

Posted Feb 21, 2008 - I thought this software wasn't worth the money. I didn't know it only had a one-year subscription when I bought it. Now I just use Ad-Aware's free anti-spyware software. Yes it has a pop-up blocker, but so does the new Internet Explorer. And any average user can go into Internet Explorer properties and delete history, cookies, and files. I would suggest you save your money for something else.

Cleans up

Strengths:

automatic scheduler, simple install, free updates

Weaknesses:

A lot of other software out there that does a better job.

Posted May 20, 2007 - Free after rebate, but so what. I would not buy this if it would have cost anything. There are other tools that do a better job and they are free. It might be good for a novice for ease of use and minimal protection.

Just Okay ...

Strengths:

Not Many !

Weaknesses:

Makes quite a few mistakes :-(

Posted Jun 5, 2006 - Tried using the software for a few days, but finally ended up uninstalling it, since the software just plainly refuses to work properly. Moreover, many of the tasks that the software is "supposed" to perform can be done now either by using standard Windows tools or by using other freeware tools.

Could have been better

Strengths:

offers good protection, simple install, regular updates of definition files

Weaknesses:

does not detect every problem

Posted Jan 6, 2006 - The installation is easy. The program starts running immediately the install is complete. You recieve regular updates of definition file. I boght it because the price was negligible (with rebates).

Internet Cleanup 4.0 - Decent Intenet Protection Product

Strengths:

-Easy to install and runs automatically upon launch -Combines spyware detection, cookie management in one

Weaknesses:

-Unintuitive dashboard -Lackluster software

Posted Dec 4, 2005 - Decent product after the price and rebates. Buy.com has the product at $0 after rebates. I am a bigger fan of Spyware Doctor or any other freeward spyware software. The software works decently but I would not recommend its purchase.

Internet Cleanup 4.0

Strengths:

Quick and simple installation, customizable settings, free updates for a year.

Weaknesses:

Detects spyware that isn't really spyware.

Has a simple and fairly intuitive user interface, and customizable settings for scanning, deleting logs, etc. Scans run successfully but my biggest gripe is that it detects too much, not all of which is spyware. Overall a decent product for the price (with rebates involved).

Internet Cleanup 4.0 Win

Strengths:

Quick, easy installation. Easy update of spyware definitions with 1 year subscription.

Weaknesses:

Interface seems simple, perhaps too simple. Doesn't explain functions sufficiently.

Posted Nov 15, 2005 - Only used a couple days. Will continue to use for another week or so to see how it performs, but probably will uninstall. When running scan and detecting spyware, Cleanup suggests spyware programs be removed by running uninstall program. Can you really expect to find spyware in your Control Panel Uninstall? I couldn't find any. Successfully ran scan, but auto correction didn't do anything about the "spyware" it detected, so I had to run the manual correction to remove it. For the money (with rebates), this appears to be a reasonable attempt to keep yourself safe, but I'm not sure that it wouldn't be worth a little additional investment for peace of mind.
