5 Star Review Samsung H260F HDTV Tuner

skywalker168 - (December 27, 2006) Feature wise, it is quite standard: has all the connectors: HDMI, Component, Optical, S-Video and Composite. Digital connectors support 1080i/720p/480p. The box is very small, about 2/3 of a regular DVD player. Excellent build quality. Remote fits comfortable in the hand but I wish buttons were illuminated. Pros: It uses the lastest 5th gen chip and the difference between this and my old Radio Shack tuner is like day and night. I live about 11 miles from transmitters and there are lots of buildings and trees in the path. With my old tuner, I have to point my indoor antenna in the right direction and place it in the right spot to get reliable signals. With this tuner, no matter where I

4 Star Review A Handy TV Calibration Tool !

WayneFChin - (October 12, 2005) SpyderTV includes a colorimeter with an adapter for mounting with a suction cup or tripod, a handy carrying case, a software CD, and a calibration DVD. Bring your own laptop with a USB port. I used SpyderTV to calibrate my 42" Panasonic Plasma TV. The entire calibration process takes roughly an hour, including a suggested 20-minute warm-up time for the TV and DVD player. Here are the steps you follow: 1. Install the software on your laptop. 2. Since you should warm up your TV and DVD player for 20 minutes, spend that time to view the calibration tutorial on the calibration DVD; it's easy to follow and it's worthwhile to get a feeling for the calibration steps.

1 Star Review Don't Buy if you expect support

judlane - (10/05/2009) I have been trying to get my defective Samsung LCD TV fixed for 2 months now and Mack is still dragging their feet on this. Seems they just don't have the resources to deal with problems. The story goes like this.... LCD TV developed vertical lines on left side of screen so I called Mack with my 3 yr warranty info and started the run around. First after they verify warranty and make sure Samsung can't be responsible they have you contact a authorized Samsung dealer to have the TV checked out. So far so good... The Local tech comes out and runs a few diagnostics and says it looks like a bad panel and he takes TV back to shop to run more tests. Week later local tech says he sent Mack pictures of the lines on the screen to prove problem but they wanted to check it out for themselves. Mack said they would arrange for pickup of TV by their shipping company (8/31/2009). On 9/14/2009 called Mack and they did not know where TV was even though the local service tech said the shipping co had picked it up 9/8/2009. Mack claimed the shipping co has to build a custom box for it so that could take some time. Anyway they finally got the TV and after a week of calling them they said the TV was not worth fixing. The offered a new model with similar features or cash so after researching a bit I chose the cash but I have not been able to get them to respond since the offer. I called today 10/5/2009 and they said I should have received a letter with this offer which I need to sign before I get a check. The only one that can authorize this is not in and I have left him many voicemails with no response. Still Waiting for a letter, Callback and hope to get a check before Black Friday so I can finally get a new TV for the hole on my wall!!! DO NOT BUY MACK PLEASE make sure you don't do what I did and go for the cheapest price on extended warranty. MACK is terrible. I am now looking at my options for my new TV and will focus on user reviews and make sure I can get local service. Best Buy may be my only option even though they are more expensive.

1 Star Review Waste of time and money!

mfmcdonald71 - (08/14/2009) Do not buy an extended warranty from Mack Camera. They will use any and all excuses to not pay a claim. I have a Sharp Aquos 42" LCD, with severe banding issues. They told me it was a "burn-in" and not coverred. This, however, was after one of their recommended service centers said it was a bad panel, and they tried other fixes to cure the problem. It was only after they couldn't fix the problem did it become a burn-in and not covered.

1 Star Review BAD FOR LARGE TVs

deo113@hotmail.com - (07/30/2009) I purchased the Peerless SA770PU wall mount because it was recommended (improperly in my opinion) by Panasonic on their website as an arm/articulating wall mount for the Panasonic 65PZ850U. Since this TV is HUGE (160-180lbs out of the box and 65 inch screen size), I was hesitant to buy an articulating mount with such a large TV but Panasonic recommended it so I figured it should be good…I was wrong. After painstakingly mounting it the top of the TV was tilting/leaning forward from the wall about 5-7 inches too far. That is A LOT of leaning and looks like you need to be sitting on the floor to get a direct view of the TV. There is an adjustment on the mount for tilting the TV forward but this adjustment was in its complete upright position and so the TV should have been complete vertical and parallel with the wall. The problem was that the top crossbar that screws directly into the TV was completely bowed / sagging thus making the TV tilted forward. It was actually kind of scary to see a $4000 TV leaning forward like that and I was afraid it would fall off. So theoretically the mount did work and did hold the TV although I’m not sure how long it would hold it and it was by no means properly watchable being tilted like that. I could have taken it all down and probably gotten a refund but with all the painstaking effort to get it up and the hassles of taking it all down and shipping and returns issues (never mind not being able to use the TV for weeks and weeks waiting for a replacement and then having to hang it with the replacement), I decided to do my own workaround. I put two large hooks into two other studs (ones not being used by the mount itself) that were lined up behind the two ends of the bowed crossbar that is screwed into the TV and using very thick and strong wire through the hooks and holes on the ends of the bowed top crossbar, I “tied back” each of the two ends of the bowed top crossbar to the point where the TV is parallel with the wall and is vertical. This solution also added extra support so that there was less strain on the mount and crossbar themselves. The MAJOR downside is that I cannot pull out the articulating arm without first unhooking/untying the support wires I’m using to tie back the bowed crossbar. Since pulling out the articulating arm was the reason I got this mount it sort of defeats the purpose. So to sum up, if your TV is large and heavy I would strongly recommend getting a different mount. If you have questions feel free to email me at deo113AThotmailDOTcom. Hope this helps.
