Strengths:

easy to use, excellent quality

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Dec 6, 2004 - We purchased these for use by our 10 year old grandson. The quality of the radios is excellent and have been used to allow Dominick greater flexibility. He is able to check in at home with information about his whereabouts and there has been an increase in the comfort factor of knowing where he is and being able to communicate with him at any time. The radios offer clear communication in both the receiving and speaking ends. We would recommend these radios to others interested in such a scenario.

Strengths:

easy to use. heavy duty casing

Weaknesses:

It is a bulkier than I thought.

Posted Apr 13, 2005 - i bought this mainly to keep in contact with my 6 year old daughter when we go to amusement parks. She was able to understand the functions without difficulty. so far so good. we've only tired it out at the local park. the range and clarity of sound are great. One radio was already dropped on the concrete. The casings are heavy duty and took the impact with out a problem.

Strengths:

Reception; range; build quality; channel availability

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Apr 18, 2005 - These are excellent radios! In "real world" testing, the range has been just over 2 miles in a suburban setting with a lot of buildings and other structures around. Have not tested them in an open setting. The reception quality is excellent and the channel availability is also excellent. No problems with having to share channels with others. Overall, I highly recommend these radios!

Strengths:

Number of frequencies; ease of use; clarity; weather band;vibra-alert

Weaknesses:

none found yet

Posted Jul 13, 2004 - Some places free nights and weekends on your cell phone don't matter because there is no cell service. These are great in those instances (camping/hiking) Disneyworld etc. They even work in the mall and city. The vibra-alert works great when it in noisy environments as is the weather band. These are two features that make it a stand-out versus the lower priced units. Two things to keep in mind: 1) Just because it says 5 miles, does not mean it will achieve that distance - that is under optimal conditions your mileage will vary. This is true of all these types of radios. 2)The higher end radios, like these, will allow you to choose more frequencies /sub-channels thus less of a chance of stepping on another group.

Strengths:

Very light. Super strong signal(tried within 2 miles). Very clear communication without much noise. Vibration alert, very convenient for meeting.

Weaknesses:

Posted Apr 14, 2005 - There are very nice items keep you fun. You can use you to tie your girlfriend and always give her some surprise. Cartoon shape seems so cute. About 80 dollars for such radios seem to be a bit expensive, but I am sure you will like it soon.

4 Star Review cool gear you should get

Strengths:

clear voice, good reception

Weaknesses:

too big

Posted Nov 27, 2005 - I bought this for outdoor activities. The voice is very clear compare to other radios I used. convenient to set up and adjust. it is a little too big for my hand. A little bit heavy too. I would like to have something lighter and smaller in the future.

Strengths:

Extremely clear, rugged design, handy batteries and charger

Weaknesses:

ugly color

Posted May 22, 2005 - These radios are a blast to use. I bought 2 pairs and we used them on our camping trip last month where cell phone reception was non-existent. The radios were extremely effective and versatile. The trip would have been a disater if we didn't bring them. Imagine splitting into small groups for fishing and hiking and then unable to communicate with each other around dinner time to gather the troops. I would definitely buy again if there are a newer version.

Strengths:

Good range, durable, sporty, rugged style, very clear.

Weaknesses:

Wish it comes in different colors other than yellow.

Posted May 2, 2005 - I used these radios at the mall and in another country. They were the same model, but came with the batteries and charger. They worked great, especially during my trip in Asia, where I had problem getting cell phone service. The radios were super handy and had no reception problems whatsoever. Before I went, I was concerned about the different frequencies in foreign countries. I guess that concern was moot because the radios worked just like they worked when I took them to the mall.
