Overall, this is quite good usb flash drive for the price.
It's reliable and fast flash drive.
However, sliding mechanism is not sturdy enough and sometimes it slided into the drive when I try to put this to the computer and makes connection unstable.
U3 function is good and easy way to use the drive but not always works perfectly with all the computers, and sometimes it is even harder than using normal flash drive without U3 function.

Micro price, max capabilities!
Cruzer Micro is the best and easiest way I find to transport, edit and backup my entire Outlook mailbox and my personal documents (bookmarks, word, excel, powerpoint, mp3 etc.) thanks to CruzerSync application preloaded on it.
Plus all your data are encrypted and this app is very simple to use.
I will definitively recommend this "sleek design" USB Flash Drive to my friends.

Overall this is a great flash drive. It's compact, has lots of room and the transfer rate is high. The retractable connector is definitely a plus.
My only problem with it has been the U3 capability. It takes up 2 drive letters when installed (which isn't a problem) because of the U3 specs and takes a little longer for the system to set it up. However, what I was really hoping for was the ability to flick a software switch on the drive (like an INI file) that would control whether the U3 started up or not. At first SanDisk only the offered the ability to shut it off via holding down the Shift key when inserting it (not terrible, but I always forgot and that can be hard to do when you have to get behind a computer to plug the drive in). Then SanDisk came out with the ability to reformat the drive and remove the U3 capability. This is a bummer as they don't tell you a way to get it back if you want it again (not to mention reformatting is a little drastic).
Oh well, minor inconvenience in the end. 4GB of flash storage is extremely handy regardless.

I have been using this for 3 weeks while I was away from home and it has been great! With the U3 software, I was able to use Trillian and Firefox with my prefs on other systems without any issues at all. The compactness of the Cruzer Micro made it easier to carry and the retractable interface was nice so I didn't have to worry about the cap.
Overall, this product ROCKS!

I'm very pleased with this product so far, I haven't had any problems. Being able to carry 4gb of info on my keychain and able to take it anywhere is very helpful. It's very compact and the retractable usb is cool (and functional) too. As for the U3, to me, I think it's absolutely worthless and defeats the whole purpose of having a flash drive due to the amount of time it takes to start-up/load system files. It loads software on each computer it's plugged into and it adds a CD Drive on My Computer to hold it's system files. To me, it was just a waste of space (minimal space, but a waste) and I opted to remove the U3 permanently. If you like the idea of the drive, but don't want U3, just go to www.u3.com/uninstall to remove it. If Sandisk hadn't pre-installed the U3, I would have given this 5 stars.

This is a large, swift pen drive that's also as small as I've seen. It has the new U3 applications launch menu for useful kiosk progs like Firefox and Thunderbird, and many others. The retractable USB connector seems solid enough, and means no more 'where's the cap?'. The orange light for 'in use' is as ugly as sin - they should fire whoever suggested that, and doubly fire whoever implemented it: yuck. But it works well, and it's very visible. Overall, an excellent product, and pretty affordable. Highly recommended

I purchased my first 4 Cruzer in September and returned it in 30 days for a new one because it was no longer recognized by my computers - HP Desktop and Notebook. SanDisk replaced the original, but I lost the 2GB of data on the device. The replacement had approximately the same amount of data on it when it failed to respond after about 45 days.
This device has not proven to be reliable. While it appears to try to connect when plugged into my USB 2.0 ports, it ultimately quits. I cannot get to the data that is presently quite safe. SanDisk has offered to replace this second unit. What good would that be if it is going to continue to lock up my data?

4GB of space is plenty for documents as well as portable/U3 applications.
Comes with U3 installed. Works well so far, many free and low-cost applications that assist in bringing your desktop with you. If you don't want U3 features it can be deinstalled and later reinstalled from a driver downloadable from Sandisk. I have already done it once.
In addition to U3 apps, there are several free applications available that can be installed that can be loaded to ANY USB drive. Most notably the PortableApps Suite (PortableApps.com) that includes OpenOffice (docs), FireFox (web), Thunderbird (email), gaim (universal IM), clamwin (anti-virus), and more.
I use U3, PortableApps, and others to get the best of all worlds. It's pretty easy to take powerful set of tools with your own personal settings in your pocket.
The only negative is that the plastic case feels kind of fragile and the slide out connector, while convenient(don't have to worry about losing a cap), may tend to have dirt, pocket lint, etc. fall into it.

The U3 software was not as impressive as it initially sounded. I have found that portableapps.com work better and are free. They take slightly more effort and knowledge to setup, but are worth it in my opinion.

Weakness: The U3 software made it hang on a laptop. We had to get a program for Sandisk to remove U3.
This is a very simple plug and play product - the U3 just makes life more complicated. It feels like a marketing gimmick.
Other than that, the drive works very well.

I love the fact that this drive has no cap to lose and holds an incredible 4 GB in such a small item. The only real drawback is that it is only average to slightly below average speed--not the fastest drive I've used, but sufficient for most applications. Despite the complaints of some about the U3 software, I've found it to be quite useful, especially if you must use public computers frequently. It's easy to erase if you don't want it (just format the drive).

I have the 4GB Cruzer and I'm quite pleased with it. The U3 app is a little slow and I haven't really had much call for it or the CD Drive creation but I'm not ruling it out for the future. It's not particularly obtrusive. I've never had any problem ejecting the usual XP way either. The convenience of the Cruzer over dragging an external hard drive around far outweighs the U3 distraction.

TopStrengths: Small size, preloaded U3 program is very helpful since it runs the program from the drive. This feature allows to bypass the admin requirement for running program installation.
Weakness: Rather flimsy casing
This is one of the best 4GB currently available in the market. The best value for its storage capacity. The preloaded program includes U3 & Skype is really helpful. Especially since it doesn't require admin access at the computer to run these program. This also enables to have a pass word protected area without reformatting the storage.

Weakness: Light visible from one side only.
I have owned several memory keys over the last couple of years and this is my favorite model. Very fast, dependable, no annoying cap to get lost. Keyring post is metal and does not break nearly as easy as other models. I only use the U3 feature on one key and disabled the rest as if you are not using the remote application feature it can be annoying as you have to use software to disconnect key before removing instead of just pulling it out as you can without U3 running.
More on weakness:
The light can only be seen on one side, some models put it in the end where it can be seen from either side. Some USB ports (like older Dell computers) require insertion upside down where you can't see light.

This is a great item to use around the house where it stays in a drawer or on a desk when not in use. Due to the fragile plastic case, I would not recommend putting this on a key chain or carrying it around in a pocket. But the capacity is great and the price was well worth the product.

TopStrengths: Has a very functional retracting USB plug. This part has never failed to work.
Weakness: Becomes unreadable. Requires file recovery software to retrieve files. Must be reformated and rewritten with recovered data to be useable again.
I loved the small size and not having to keep up with a cap. I liked it so well that I bought three more for different work areas. I was soon disappointed however, as each drive failed in succession. I was able to recover my data each time with file recovery software. I had to reformat and rewrite recovered data to bring them back as they were. I have reformatted each drive; some more than once. Be sure to back-up your data everyday with these drives.

TopStrengths: Goes anywhere, stores most everything, and works on most any computer. The range of free applications is really what completes this product. Its like caring your computer with you.

Great product especially for the parson that is traveling and with the right applications you can send email from any computer, create, manage, and update any open office document anywhere and keep in touch with your friends and family with the instant messenger software. Weakness: Fails to work on some computers. Sync fails and computer reboots when attempting to sync.
Overall product works well except with some computers. Purchased to backup personal files on several computers, worked fine on 90% other 10% re-booted during the sync process. Have not tried to resolve issue with software manufacture.

I'm sure that windows useres get a lot of enjoyment from whatever it is that U3 does, and if they don't, they can always remove it.
Not so with mac users. The U3 partition mounts without fail, no matter what you delete or how you try and stop it, but does not run because the file type doesn't work on mac.
It's okay, though, because as I have heard from many sources, there is an uninstall available on the website.
Guess what. It's for PCs only.
That's right. I can't remove the files that are obnoxious and usless on my mac because the :"I'm removing the software because I have a Mac" uninstall doesn't work on mac. What a straoke of brilliance.

Cruzer Micro 4.0 GB is a winner

This is a great product. Be sure, however, you buy it from a reputable dealer. 90% of those on eBay are fakes. I had earlier bought one on eBay, and found it was a 250 MB made to appear as a 4 GB. Being wiser the next time, I shelled out a bit more money to get the real thing. The real one works flawlessly. If you will not be running programs (games) from it, you may want to disable the U3. SanDisk has a U3 removal utility, and if later you decide you want it, you can put it back on. I don't like U3, because whenever I tried to transfer my files to another computer, it would install U3 on the other computer without even asking. I use it when I do a reformat of my computer. I can put all of My Documents, email, favorites all on it, then reformat and reinstall them.
It is nice for transporting PowerPoint files when traveling. You can simply plug it into someone else's computer and not have to lug your laptop around.
It isn't cheap, so I use the lanyard and carry it around my neck to keep from losing it. I really love this drive.
