Bissell ProHeat 7950 Steam Cleaner

Cheap construction dooms otherwise efficient machine

Posted Jan 6, 2006 - When first using this machine, I was exceptionally pleased by the job it did-it really made my carpets look good. The upholstery/stairs brush on the hose was less impressive; it had a very inadequate spray pattern, more like a pathetic dribble, and not very good suction. It clogged easily due to pet hair (if you have indoor pets, try another model) and when the belt driving the sprayer came off it was the beginning of the end. When changing the adjustment from tools to floor cleaning, the handle just snapped off, revealing the linkage to be nothing but cheap, brittle plastic...not very smart for any hope of longevity. The cleaning solution dispenser also seemed to be out of sync with the water resevoir, making it necessary to refill it way too often. My vacuum shop owner said he wouldn't recommend the machine, although I cannot repeat his descriptive terminology for evaluating Bissel's quality. My advice would be to look around for something better constructed.

Bissell ProHeat 7950 Steam Cleaner

Posted Nov 24, 2005 - I chose Bissell over Hoover Dual V because of durability issue with Hoover's tank. Now I have to worry about Bissell's pump breaking down within a year. I hope regular cleaning of its filter avoid this problem.

Poorly Engineered

Posted Sep 21, 2006 - I bought this unit because it was a little highter price than the others and I thought that would equate to more effective... For a few months it worked... then leaks in plastic tubes and pans that are not accessible... After only 5 months I just put it out by the street in the garbage...

I've seen toys hold up better than this thing!

Posted Sep 9, 2006 - We have replaced this thing every year due to the stupid thing breaking down. The belts constantly need replacing, the driver is made out of plastic (stupid design) and needs constant replacing. This thing was made to be repaired. Not a good design- all parts are plastic- even the GEARS!- I have no idea who designed this thing or who approved it, but WOW- think again! I have had to return it 4 times in the past 5 years to be fixed. It's going to the trash! it broke for the last time. no more cheap merchandise!

Don't last.

Posted Jan 2, 2007 - Not worth the money,even at half price.Don't last a year.We have bought belts and they break easily again and then the parts are cheap plastic and they will not take the job of cleaning carpets for long.Always something breaking.

Not Worth It

Posted Dec 26, 2006 - I have had this unit in the shop 2 times. As I write this, I will have to return it to the shop again. Not dispensing water. Have tried all the suggested remedies on Bissel's site. I do not recommend this unit

Bissel carpet cleaner

Posted Nov 1, 2005 - The Bissel ProHeat Steam Cleaner was easy to use, fill and empty. It did a good job cleaning carpets, but the machine did not last long before the pump stopped working. For a machine that was only used a few times in a year, the lifespan was not worth the cost.

Bissell Steam cleaner

Posted Aug 22, 2005 - after about a year of use, my bissell steam cleaner quit working. I took the unit to the local authorized repair shop and was told the unit was out of warranty (just) and that it would be rather expensive to repair. Interestingly, the clerk in the repair shop told me she would not buy this brand especially if she had pets and even minute quantities of pet hair may damage the pump. Bissell did offer to look at the unit if i shipped it back to them, but by the time I got a box for it, I had been notified that since they did not get the machine within 5 days, that they were rescinding the offer.

Bissell Proheat

Posted Aug 18, 2006 - I bought the first Bissell after borrowing my friend's. I loved how well it cleaned and how easy it was to use, but it quickly (about a year) broke. I had it repaired, not cheap. Then it stopped spraying, and the solution tank would leak solution all over the place. I bought another one. This one stopped sucking up after about a year. My friend gave me hers, which was practically new, and it lasted until it too stopped working. So, 3 machines in about as many years.... I'm buying another carpet cleaner, but not a Bissell. I couldn't in good conscience recommend this product because it just isn't made to last. Very disappointed. Too bad, if it were more durable it would be a good machine. I'm not too impressed with the hand tools either. It spays all over the place and the suction isn't very good.

Bissel Steam Cleaner

Posted Feb 4, 2006 - Unit stopped spraying the cleaning solution. Maunal stated that all seals must be tight. Cleaned and retried numerous times with no spray improvement. I wonder if carpet fuzz might have gotten through filters and stopped pump function.(I also have pets.)

Bissel Carpet Cleaner

Posted May 5, 2006 - After the first few times I cleaned the carpets, the trigger to release the solution broke. Had that fixed and after a few other cleanings, the smart solution container wouldn't dispense. Now it doesn't even dispense just water if you have it on "Water Only". So disappointed in this product.

BISSEL SUCKS, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU TRY TO USE IT!!!

Posted 4 months ago - BOUGHT ONE, QUIT SPRAYING AFTER 1 YEAR - BAD PUMP, BOUGHT THE NEXT ONE - IT QUIT SPRAYING AFTER ONE YEAR - BAD PUMP, BOUGT A THIRD (I AM A DUMMY)- IT JUST QUIT WORKING AFTER 4 USES!!!! I WOULDN'T BUY ANOTHER BISSEL PRODUCT IF I WAS KNEE DEEP IN GREASY SHAG CARPET THAT SMELLED LIKE OLD POTATOES!! BISSEL SHOULD BE ASHAMED.

Horrible Product

Posted 1 year ago - My neighbor bought a proheat and after a few months the solution sprayer stopped working. She gave it to me thinking I could fix it for myself and bought herself another. That one broke too, same problem and within only a few months. I have looked at the diagrams and reviewed a few web sites and it seems obvious that the pump is the problem. I will not pay to have the pump replaced since it is expensive and that expense shouldn't be necessary with a product which is less than a year old. I thought Bissel was a good name, but with this kind product I will never buy Bissel again and I recommend anyone going to a different brand. Bissel should be ashamed of themselves for putting out such an inferior product. Both machines are going right into the garbage. GOOD JOB BISSEL KEEP UP THE LOUSY WORK. If I could give it no stars I would, but I can only go as low as one.
