I'm picky, it did a great job with my own solution

Posted 3 months ago - I have dogs and a teenager. I mix 1 T of baking soda, 1 T Borax to 1 cup of white vinegar and use this to both spot clean as well as in the solution tank. Add vinegar VERY slowly as the baking soda will cause it to bubble & overflow. Gets rid of odor, the Bissell Steamer cleans up ALL hair and leaves floor almost dry. Most stains were removed except for an old koolaide stain. This remedy worked better than the Bissell pet stain remover. No one can tell I have hairy, leaky mutts. Always have a towel to lay under the front of the machine where the roller is when filling or stopping machine.

Bissell Proheat Select 2X

Posted Jan 16, 2006 - I borrowed this from a neighbor and was completly shocked at what this thing could do. I have tried over and over to get this one stain up and this machine took it out of my carpet on the first treatment. The shampoo product that comes with it is extremely effective as well. I am very impressed with the heater and the difference that it makes.

The best....

Posted Aug 2, 2006 - We bought this unit a while back (at least 9 months), having decided that having 3 dogs and 5 cats that we needed a carpet cleaner that was easy to use. I initially balked at the $200+ price tag, but I will have to say that this unit has done everything it promised, and then some. I have had this unit for a good while now, and because of the weak bladders and irritating amount of bowel problems my dogs have had, we have used this unit quite frequently over that amount of time. The result? The unit has lasted better than I expected, and the bag the water is held in that was mentioned by a previous reviewer has held up perfectly. This unit has paid for itself many times over, and my house is still livable. I only wish I didn't have to use it so much, but, when I do, the ease of usage is one reason to cheer, as well as it's superb job of cleaning. OK, it's a little heavy...but, would you want a cleaner that didn't have a little heft to it? On the other hand, when you do big jobs, it would be nice if the water reservoir was a bit bigger, but that would make the unit even heavier. Oh, by the way, if it seems too heavy, don't lift it if it is full of water. Oh, yea, I don't own any of the company...I just like to think that I made an intelligent choice that continues to pay off for our family.

I was ready for dissapointment and it almost happened

Posted 1 year ago - I read the reviews so I took the chance and picked one up. At first It seemed it was not picking up the water. I got out the old big green clean machine and it picked up allot of water that the pro heat 2 left behind. I was ready to take it back to the store when I checked the bissell web site and saw there was a filter to check. I mean this was right out of the box, why would the filter be dirty, but I checked it and it was plugged. So I cleaned it out and that made all the difference in the world. You could see the difference in the carpet right away. The suction was equal to or better than the old green machine. I tried the green machine again and it did not pick any water up. WOW

Never Again

Posted Dec 3, 2007 - I saved for almost 2 years for this machine and I am SO disappointed. When it is working, it does the job. But it hardly ever works right. I have had several calls with the company without any result. For a product that only gets used a few times a year for deep cleaning, it should work and last a whole lot better than this. I will never buy another Bissell again. Could have had a better machine if I had bought another brand for a LOT less money. What a waste. 2 years old, used 5 times and the company will not stand behind it.

PIECE OF GARBAGE

Posted Mar 28, 2008 - I bought my machine about a year ago. I used it maybe five times before it stopped spraying water. I had it repaired, used it twice (maybe), and once again - IT STOPPED SPRAYING WATER. The repair shop we took it to is a "mom and pop" type repair shop. They said that this machine has "a lot of complaints" that the company "doesn't stand behind the product" and that it's a "lemon". DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I had a Hoover before this one (for about 7 yrs., no problems - it got cracked when we moved - nothing else was wrong). The only reason I swiched was I that liked the brushed on the Bissell and the fact that it heated the water. I just went and replaced it with a cheeper Hoover and I am sure I'll be much happier with this machine.

Posted Feb 25, 2006 - Impressed with the cleaning performance. I liked the easiness of going from floor to hand held knozzle. I borrowed this unit from my daughter and considered purchasing one; however, I have great concerns of part failure, especially the clear water bag. This should have been designed with two tanks, clear water and dirty water tank. Otherwise, This is a good product.

Posted Feb 6, 2006 - cleaned one room of carpet and the brush motor died. cannot handle thick or high pile carpets. heat works great, but would not purchase this product again. perhaps a stronger brush motor would solve the problem.

Don't Waste Your Money

Posted Jun 9, 2007 - Worst steam cleaner I ever saw. Very over priced. Better off renting a rug doctor... Carpet takes 3-4 days to dry. Junk. Can put down an entire bag of water, about 3 quarts and you'll be lucky if sucks 1 pint back up.

Bissell Pro Heat

Posted Mar 20, 2007 - I only had my Bissell Pro Heat for a little over a year and it's in the trash today due to continuous breaking of the belt that rotates the brush. Costs a fortune to order a new one, not found at any stores and is a pain to replace. Very disappointed in this Bissell product.

Buyer Beware!

Posted 1 year ago - I spent $270 on this thing and was able to use it TWICE before it stopped spraying. TWICE. Oh and I went through all the trouble shooting tips and none of them worked. Now I have to take the thing to be serviced. I might as well have just rented a carpet cleaner and saved my money, but I thought it'd be far more convenient to have one handy whenever I wanted to use one. Apparently not! Do not buy this piece of garbage. It's a total rip off.

Posted Feb 15, 2008 - I have owned this machine for about 4 years,and use it about two to three times a year.This last time I used it I got so mad,I had it three steps down into the cellar for storage but I changed my mind and put it into the rubbish.I will never buy another Bissell product of any type or price.

DONT BUY A BISSEL

Posted 5 months ago - pro heat 2x 9400 sucks,,,read the reviews,,i bought mine april 2008 ,and now will not spray water,,,my pump needs replaced,,i went to a local shop hoping it was just pluged up ,,nope it will cost me 100 dollars to fix,,,bissel sucks,,,IAM GOING BACK TO HOVER ,there is no way iam geting it fixed,,i payed 205 dollars,,it would cost me over 300 dollars ,,and only last mabe 1 year,,DONT BUY BISSEL,,DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Don't buy a Bissell

Posted 1 year ago - I got this machine because I clean my carpet frequently. In the 3 years that I have owned the machine it has been to the repair shop 3 times, at a cost of $75 per trip. the last time I had it in the man said don't bring this back again, just put it in the trash It would work for a couple of cleanings and then the sprayer would stop spraying.

Bissell ProHeat 2X Steam Carpet Cleaner

Posted 1 year ago - Cleans and renews carpet nap extremely well. Not just a steam cleaner, but has a powerhead and beater bar for deep cleaning. No sticky residue left behind to attract more dirt quickly. The cost of the machine is about the same as one professional carpet cleaning, but in my experience, the bissell does a much better job, and it remains at my fingertips for future emergency spills/messes. Carpets dry fast. I had no colour loss or bleeding from my carpets, as I have experienced with more than one professional cleaner. As the cleaner was purchased at Costco, I was not as concerned with the Bissell warranty. Costco has a wonderful across-the-counter return policy if anything fails to perform well.
