A fun toy

Posted Apr 13, 2008 - I love this vacuum! It cleans efficiently and doesn't lose suction from my experience. The only downside is that the battery runs for 6 minutes after being charged. If you're using this for anything that takes longer than 6 minutes, you probably should be using a full size vacuum. I did have some difficulty getting at tricky spots in my car, but could probably get to them with some of the attachments you can buy for it. The exhaust is clean and I don't have to worry about the filter missing any of the dust and blowing it back into the air. As the filter is reusable and sponge like(clean once every 3 to 6 months of use), I don't have to worry about shaking out a cotton-like filter like many other handhelds have.

Posted Mar 21, 2008 - overall a great little machine. The price point of $149 is a little steep, but you do get a two year warranty. battery life is approximately six minutes.The mounting clip is awkward to install. No bags to buy or change. Like the full sized model it is really easy to empty.

Strong suction in a little vacuum

Posted Feb 1, 2008 - After having new carpeting put in my house, I decided to buy a Dyson full size vacuum. I loved everything about it, but found that while cleaning with the hose and attachments, it was somewhat limiting. I then found the Dyson Root 6, and it made quick cleaning and hard to reach places so much easier! While the charge time is limited, I am able to clean baseboards, trim and woodwork and hard to reach places in each room. If I do one room at a time, I do not find the 6 minutes to be a problem. Overall, the Dyson Root 6 is a strong, lightweight, convenient handheld vacuum that I highly recommend.

Glorified Dustbuster

Posted Mar 27, 2007 - I have enjoyed the Dyson Animal for several years, so I decided to try the Dyson Root 6 DC-16 portable model. It really works great for cleaning up after pets and small children. It is quite convenient for small jobs that you don't want to drag the big vacuum out for. It is also great for vacuuming around floorboards, kick panels of cabinets, and feet of furniture. It can also be used for quick dusting... making it a rather expensive dustbuster. I didn't care for the way it has to mount to the side of something, like a cabinet, because I wanted to just hang it on a wall of my utility room close to an electrical plug for charging. (My husband ended up adding a piece of wood as an adapter.) You can only run it for about 5 minutes until you have to charge it again. The reservoir doesn't hold very much, so you have to empty it frequently. With all its faults, I still really like this handheld vacuum.

Nice product if it fits your needs

Posted Jan 4, 2007 - I just had it for a week. Overal I like it. It is the most powerful handheld vacuum I ever had. Now I don't need to pull out the big one everytime I see something here and there. The good: - It's powerful - Easy to clean - No filter to change - It looks good and you don't need to hide it. - Wall mountable charging station. The bad: - Pricey. I used the easy-to-find 20% BBB coupon to buy it. - The battery doesn't last long. I didn't test it but someone mentioned it has around 6 minutes battery time. I never used it up though as I only use it for small jobs.

dyson root 6

Posted Nov 3, 2006 - 6 minutes per charge makes this item too expensive for the limited use I have for it. I love my dyson upright but this is not worth the price of $150.00. When i called the help line I was told that this ( 6 minutes per charge ) was fully disclosed in ad. I have yet to see ad that states this.
