4 Star ReviewMyHD PCI HDTV Tuner Card
Strengths: Very easy install. Outstanding analog, digital & HDTV signals from both Cable TV & OTA inputs. Very good Remote and PVR capability.
Weaknesses: QAM capability from Cable is weak and confusing. Needs better ability to record advance and repeated programs.
Summary: Installation was a breeze. Had no problems at all in connecting the system up and working on first try. It is very nice to have two inputs to connect Cable TV and my Over The Air antenna. I also split the outside antenna signal so that I could connect my VCR and programmed it as Analog Channel 3 so that I can also enjoy Video Tapes.

Some of the local HDTV channels came in through the QAM tuner, but not much else. The channel numbering system was very confusing, but this could all be due to Time Warner Cable. I gave up on the Cable for the HDTV. However, an OTA antenna brought in all the local HDTV and digital signals with amazing clarity and I no longer use the Cable company for HDTV! I get a better picture and far more channels this way. It is a great tuner.

The channel guide works great for the channels that are broadcasting such. However, the Titan TV connection, via the internet, works fine to tell me everything that is on.

I like the ease of recording programs. The HDTV programs come through beautifully and I am only limited by the amount of hard disk space, which fortunately is very cheap these days. Would like to be able to program weekly shows and far into future without leaving my computer on all of the time. Perhaps I can hook up a timer, but would be nice to have the ability for the MyHD card to be able to do this.

I used my regular sound board and an external amplifier with two large speakers for super sound. Have not as yet used the Digital sound or connected a Surround system, but very nice to know that I have the option.

My old PC has now found a home as an entertainment center with far more capabilities than I thought...

1 Star ReviewMDP-130 Fails to Unlock the Dreams of Digital/Analog Capture
Strengths: Dual RF input for both OTA and QAM Connections. RCA Audio/Video Inputs plus S-Video SPDIF Output Ability to get unencrypted QAM channels as well as your neighbors On Demand x X x in Fast Forward.
Weaknesses: Requires an internal connection on sound card to hook up the MDP-130 audio’s or a SPDIF input on your sound card, does not transmit sound unless you connect it to something.
Summary: 2006-09-22 15:40:02 When scanning for QAM channels, it picks up all the encrypted channels as well as adds them to the list of available channels.

There is no RF loop though so you have to split the connection before it gets to the card

There is no S-Video or RCA or Componet Output for this card.

Can only record analog channels using AVI capture, based on existing codes in the operating system. You can capture directly to DivX or XviD or uncompressed DV AVI format. Cannot capture to MPEG.

Cannot capture the audio of the analog channels, only the video.

The quality of the analog recording is crap, you can record better picture using a VCR.

When recording the digital or HDTV channels it records in transport stream which is very nice, but it doesn’t seem to want to record the channel that I’m watching, just some random channel.

You cannot watch digital or HDTV channels with audio, all you get is the video feed.

Does not work with Adobe Premiere 6.5, in the ability to capture using Adobe’s interface, although it shows up, but it crashes every time.

Does not work with MainConept’s H.264 Encoder in their built in capture mode.

Channel numbering system is quite confusing, some channels having as many as 18 sub channels, and then having to go though and turn off all the encrypted channels, takes a long time. It does allow you to name the channels though with a short tag so you could label the channels. Also has the ability to add channels to a favorites list. You can select the input, ANT1, ANT2, Video, Favorites List, ect.

Overall it would have been the perfect card if I had been able to capture the analog channels in decent quality, and MPEG, and then would have been nice if I could have been able to watch the digital channels and hear what was going on…. Or at least be able to capture certain channels, without the guessing game. Although you are able to customize the recording specs of the analog, frame size, frame rate, ect. It also has frame capture that will capture one frame to a JPG or BMP image file. The price is reasonable, if it had worked flawlessly. Would recommend maybe a different card that would support higher quality analog capture and would perform better on the digital and HDTV channels.

4 Star ReviewMYHD 130, 120 and 100
Strengths: Great Picture quality for over the air HDTV programing, 5.1 souround with coaxial output to external audio 5.1 system, decrypted DVD movies at 1360/768 res, DVI-D out with DVI doughter card.
Weaknesses: none really
Summary: I purchased my first MYHD tuner card in 2003 and I believe for what it does best, namely play DVD movies, local over the air HDTV, recording HDTV transport streams and in conjunction with Ulead video studio you can record HDTV in HQ 720 X 480 DVD format. You can,t beat it.
Thank you for the valuable feedback!
