5 Star ReviewAs I posted above, most of the comments posted by ...

Strengths:

Great, great card! Not a lot I can add to what others have written. I know this is probably redundant and most of you know to update the drivers, but with this card it is really really critical.

Weaknesses:

N/A

Posted Aug 8, 2004 - As I posted above, most of the comments posted by other reviewers are accurate. This is a terrific card and I'm glad I spent the money on it. The only thing I would really point out that I think is not stressed enough is... immediately update the drivers from the website! I can't stress this enough!

5 Star Review One of the Greatest Video cards of all time

Strengths:

Can play many of the "modern" games at good frames per second, compared to other cards that are 4 years old. still beats many of the lower end new generation cards fps wise. ati has a great warranty

Weaknesses:

it's an old card only 128mb ram

Posted Apr 11, 2006 - if you have a newer card these came with the same gpu's as the 9800xt's so you can theoretically run it like a 9800xt without the 256mb of ram. if you can find a card for less than a eighty dollars it's a good deal. I'd choose this over the ati 1300's, and geforce 6200s any day. at 15-70fps i still pwn on CSS.

Strengths:

Smooth, Great Price ($149.99 after rebates)

Weaknesses:

When I play a game or do 3dMark It crashes, I think

Posted Dec 4, 2004 - I purchased this along with my HDTV Wonder. Read my review on that too! Whenever I run 3dMark05 or 3dMark03 everything will be fine for like 30 sec or 1 min. All of a sudden my computer beeps and the screen shows some wired crazy stuff, usaully a rought multicolored-dark colored look to it. I have sent ATI 3 emails and have not otten any responce in over 12 days. Very frusterated. I can play CounterStrike source for like 10minutes until it craps out on me.

Strengths:

The image quality is out of this world -- you won't find a graphics board with better visuals than this. This card is very stable, and I am absolutely glad I purchased it.

Weaknesses:

none

Posted May 16, 2003 - If you are looking for a high-end graphics card, the Radeon 9800 Pro is your number 1 choice. I have been playing Max Payne on it since it (Radeon 9800 Pro) arrived -- the graphics are so good I can't put them into words. My older graphics card would not run Max Payne. Now with this board, I should be happy for about 18 months or even longer -- imagine that, 18 months with no worry about upgrading to a new graphics card.

Strengths:

This card is super fast and skips the bs.... anyone who plays high end games must get this card ! This is a power users dream card.

Weaknesses:

Definetly none.... every aspect of this card is built for performance.... NO WEAKNESSES.

Posted Jun 26, 2003 - I read all the hub bub about the 9700Pro and decided to get the All in Wonder9700Pro (Great Card!).... But this card is better, most Tech sites say it's about 17% better, i say it's at least 25%.... I play Unreal, Black Hawk Down and Rainbow Six 3... NO PROBLEM, everything at it's highest settings and the card still burns rubber.... The graphics are fantastic ! There isn't a card out there... not even the 9700Pro that comes close.

Strengths:

GPU can overclock to over 450MHz

Weaknesses:

Memory cant overclock to more than 378MHz and actually decreases as you increase the GPU voltage.

Posted Feb 13, 2004 - I overclocked my 9800Pro to over the speed of an XT and it worked perfectly. I have been tweaking my Sapphire 9800Pro for about a month now, using overclocking utilities, BIOS flashes, and volt-mods.

Strengths:

FAST, leading performance and well-built software

Weaknesses:

Weak stock cooler (Only noticeable with most of the fans off)

Posted Apr 11, 2004 - Great video card. I'm using P4 3.2 GHz, P4C800-ED, 1Gb PC3200, 160Gb 7200RPM SATA HD, I've seen the maximum potential this thing can run at and it's probably the best card you can get. (Excluding the 9800 XT, which costs an excessive amount of money for the performance gain) The only thing is that you might want to add a good aftermarket cooler, because unless you're running an absurd number of fans (I am- 7x80mm) it will likely overheat. As of now, buy ATI; some of their specs might not measure up to NVidia's but their performace exceeds it.

Strengths:

For gaming: Super fast and breath taking speed and image quality. All the Above: Awsome

Weaknesses:

The card is great but one problem, its OVERheats.

Posted Jan 28, 2004 - I was suprised with the abilities this video card had. I was amazed the 3dmark score this thing can achieve. Well im running a 3.4 ghz processor(overclocked), P4C800, and 1 GB of PC3200(2 sticks of 512). My 3dmark score was about 5803, without overclocking. Well, if you overclock this thing to 459mhz core, and 782mhz ram clock, you will get over 6500 3dmarks depending on the setup you have runnin. Well overall, this card is the shiznic and I have no regrets, except the fact it overheats. One suggestion, get a new cooler on it. It dosn't overheat in dx8 games, only in games like call of duty that run dx9.

Posted Aug 28, 2003 - You certainly get the best hardware from ATI. The performance metrics on the adapter is amazing. I have not found any other adpater that can provide the 3D rendering performance found on the 9800 Pro.

Strengths:

Incredibly sharp images and brilliant colors

Weaknesses:

none

Posted May 7, 2003 - I installed this card as a final upgrade to my computer. I replaced an aging Geforce 2. I can't find any game that challenges this card and I am confident that it will be able to handle anything that is thrown at it for quite a while. BTW, I was able to get a 3DMark2001SE score of 16950 with the standard core / memory clocks. I was able to clock this card to 432/371 with no issues. It would go much higher but imperfections started to show up. Radeon 9800 pro AA++

Strengths:

Super easy install. 3.10 drivers outstanding. Great performance for price.

Weaknesses:

None I have observed.

Posted Jan 13, 2004 - Install was a breeze. I replaced the excellent Nvidia 4600Ti. I am know able to turn-on alot more eye candy with the 9800 Pro. Overclocking is resonable. I paid $280.00 for the card and am very happy with the upgrade. You can't go wrong with the purchase of the card.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

some rendering problem in some games with the AA and AF on, such as C&C:Zero Hour and Splinter Cell. no heatsink, temperature and fan monitor/controller. still using 0.15 micron technology

Posted Oct 20, 2003 - POWER..., it is worth ur money. With my computer spec.P4 2.53(B)Ghz (FSB 533Mhz), 40Gb Maxtor(7200rpm), dual-channel 2x512Mb DDR PC2700 Kingston, MSI 865PE Neo2 series motherboard, & 3.4 catalyst, my Gigabyte Ati Radeon 9800pro 128Mb result for 3DMark2003 'fly' till 5833 points in default setting. But once i install 3.6 catalyst, it droped till 5739 points in default setting.I bought it 3 days ago which cost me RM.1590,00 (about US$420). I have to buy Gigabyte brand, cos i can find any ATI from the com. shop in Malaysia. And my friend using Gigabyte ATI Radeon 9800pro 256Mb DDR-II,with his computer spec. P4 2.8(c)Ghz (FSB 800Mhz), 40Gb Western Digital(7200rpm) with 8Mb memory buffer, dual-channel 2x512Mb DDR PC3200 Kingston (Hyper-X), same motherboard, & 3.6 catalyst, it just reach 5713 points with default setting. Both computers were tested by myself. These results make me confused. How can it be my friend result is lower than mine? Both of these cards don't come with temperature and fan speed monitor/setting, and also only 0.15 micron technology whereby the 9600 version already use 0.13 micron. And for the 128Mb version, its memory chips do not equip with heatsink which will limit the overclock potential.

Strengths:

Powerful card, carries ATI name (gotta love that), great price, awesome graphics.

Weaknesses:

Weak software bundle. No games included so I could see how this super card works with new games.

Posted Nov 12, 2004 - I upgraded from my ATI 9000 Pro 128 and it was a huge difference, sort of. I haven't been playing tons of hardware demanding games, but I can tell you that it has made a noticeable difference. Running the demo for UT 2004 is silky smooth and much more fun with the details turned up super high including Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering. So it doesn't seem to have any problems playing most of the newer games. I was dissapointed that there weren't any games included with the hardware so I could see how great this new card really is. But it is only a minor problem because I can just download them off the internet. Now I am satisfied with my little gaming machine: Shuttle XPC NForce2 Ultra MB, AMD 2700+@2.17ghz, 768 MB PC2700 DDRRAM, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128, WD 160 gig hdd, Lite-On 12x DVD+/-RW, and some other stuff that doesn't really matter all that much. Overall, I recommend this card to anyone looking for a good upgrade and has around $200 to spend.

Strengths:

If you cash flow is doing good, get the big brother of the 9700 pro! The 9800 Pro is out of this world with the images! One kick butt product. Who's NVIDIA?? HAHA

Weaknesses:

NONE, ZERO, Dont even Ask.

Posted Jun 21, 2003 - I looked at this product for several months. Let me tell you one thing...256mb video cards chipset means beans!! The 5600 and the 5900 Ultra were supossed to disrtoy the 9800 Pro. ATI smoked the 256MB 5600 Ultra without any trouble, and new stats are comming out about the 5900 Ultra. PC Upgrade, a very nice Magazine source, reviewed the 5900 and the 9800 Pro. The settings they used werent the best for both cards, but the 5900 only beat the 9800 in one spot...3DM2003. The 9800 Pro clam QUAKE 3, UT2003flyby, and UT2003 botmatch. Come on who cares only about benchmark, videocards are not rated on bench alone; more importantly its the games!! The ATI 9800 Pro is god. If you would like to know where I got most of my sources before I bought this card, the best magazine I have ever bought was MAXIMUMPC. They know what they are talking about. Shoot, even ATI clamed there is no need to even have a 256MB videocard unless there is a high market demand. NVIDIA always tries to be the first to make something and they always screw it up, and ATI comes in and dominates!! Bottom line....... GET THIS CARD!
