5 Star Review An Excellent Washer

Strengths:

- Easy to Use -- Both of my teens luv to use it- Quiet- No vibration if balanced

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Dec 28, 2007 - The vibration complaints above are ill founded. The key is make sure all four sides are balanced perfectly. Once balanced make sure you lock down all for legs using a 14mm wrench to all four leg nuts. I replaced a Maytag Neptune washer

4 Star Review Amazing Washer

Strengths:

Cheap price, clean looking, energy efficient, high quality

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Dec 7, 2007 - I love this washer. I can put so much more in there and it is so much quicker and energy efficient. It said the annual electricity cost including the water from the electric water heater is $13! The washers seems to get clothes clean, quickly and efficiently. I like how much quicker I can get my laundry done. If I had it to do all over again though I would definitely buy one that had a larger capacity washer. No other complaints to this date.

1 Star Review My second one is leaking too!

Strengths:

Works well when not leaking

Weaknesses:

This is the second washer that leaked

Posted 1 month ago - We got a Duet Sport two years ago. It worked fine for a year, then started to leak. The part they said needed to be replaced was on back order, so they replaced the washer with a new one. I've had it a year now, and it too has started leaking. I think it's time to give up on this model and try a new one

1 Star Review Buyer Beware!

Strengths:

Low water usage. Energy efficient.

Weaknesses:

Vibration during spin cycle. Poor quality.

Posted 3 months ago - We have owned a Whirlpool Duet Sport washer and dryer for two years. The dryer's computer board went out shortly after one year. Today we found out the washer needs a new computer board as well. We have three people in our family and wash two to three loads a week, so the machine is not heavily used. We are very disappointed in the quality of our washer/dryer set.

2 Star Review Bellow tears and causes leaks

Strengths:

Leaves clothes dry and reduces drying time. U like the extra white rinse.

Weaknesses:

This is the second time the bellow has torn causing it to leak water on to the floor.

Posted 5 months ago - I am frustrated with having to repair this washer again. We purchased two years ago. There is only the two of us and not a lot of heavy duty loads. Therefore I am unhappy with the repair record. I had a Maytag for 15 years with out any trouble, the motor just went out. It does help to run the bleach cleaing cycle once a month.

1 Star Review The worst Whirlpool product I have ever had!!!!!

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

Vibrates so badly that you can hear it over the TV in the adjoining room banging against the wall, mildew collects in the rubber around the door on the inside and outside even though I leave it open.

Posted 1 year ago - In the beginning, I had my washing machine checked for shaking over and over again. They leveled it several times and replaced the shock absorbers. Machine is too heavy for me or any woman to correctly level it or clean behind it at any time. Whirlpool greatly needs to recall these washing/dryer machine products or have parts or problems repaired and replaced! This is my 3rd Whirlpool washing/dryer machines, their worst products ever!! They should not carry the Whirlpool name, they are so bad! Even the dryer timer causes it to run on and on continuously!

4 Star Review Whirlpool Duet Washer

Strengths:

Efficient, Easy to use, Reliable.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jan 22, 2008 - This is a fantastic machine. It works well and very efficient. It uses very little water to wash because of the front loading capability. Unlike a top load washer, the Duet front loading washer is very easy to load clothes in and out of the washer and it cleans your clothes well due to its front load design. This washer has saved me money because of its efficiencies and it has made my clothes sparkling clean. Overall, a good buy for anyone looking for a washer.

4 Star Review Great Washer Real quiet

Strengths:

Unbelievably quiet. Washes clothes without beating them up. Efficient

Weaknesses:

Vibrates see comments below

Posted Jan 17, 2008 - This is a great Washer. It is efficient, quiet, and I have had no problems with it - so I like it. The one thing that takes getting used to is the vibrations. This thing spins so fast that it definitely vibrates the floor. It is not overly noisy when doing this, but nonetheless it does vibrate. I am amazed at how fast it spins when drying. oh yea, it drys the clothes very well which means less time in the dryer...

4 Star Review Reltively quiet, cleans well

Strengths:

Energy efficient, noise less obtrusive (than old top loader)

Weaknesses:

You do have to wipe the water out of the front seal and leave door open after using.

Posted Jan 7, 2008 - Bought as a pair with matching dryer because of a very good deal with rebate around black Friday. Washer capacity is less than old top loader, but we are a small family and the top loader was inefficient at smaller loads. While this washer does make noises, they are more water sloshing and not heavy machine motor noises. It must be leveled correctly or the spin cycle can be noisy with vibration. We did not get the pedestals (due to cost) which seems to help keep the spin cycle vibration down.

5 Star Review Very glad we made this purchase

Strengths:

Very quiet, saves energy, many features

Weaknesses:

None that I have noticed

Posted Dec 21, 2007 - We have had no issues with this washer. We purchased the both Duet Sports and couldn't be happier. We live in a loft condominium and we have them stacked. We notice no vibrations and the machine is extremely quiet compared to our old machine. It's a bonus that it uses less water and energy. I would highly recommend this appliance. Very tough to beat for features and price.

4 Star Review Whirlpool Duet Washer

Strengths:

Reasonably priced, energy efficient, clean design.

Weaknesses:

Does vibrate quite a bit in the spin cycle. Pedestals are outrageous ($200 each).

Posted Dec 17, 2007 - I purchased this washer to replace an old top loading one that was past its prime. I had read that front load washers were more energy efficient and used less water which is certainly true. But not only does this help with the energy efficiency of the washer, but the dryer as well because the clothes do not come out nearly as wet as they did with my old washer so therefore take less time to dry. And since the dryer is one of the most expensive appliances to run this results in some nice savings. The only downside versus the old top load is that you can't just decide to throw in a couple more things when its filling or you will end up with a pile of water on the floor. It is recommended you use high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent with this washer which could be a downer for some. We only use All detergent because of some sensitivity issues and it is the same price per number of loads for the HE and regular kinds. The only real downside to the washer so far is like most other reviewers have said the spin cycle can get a little out of control. Its virtually silent until then, but once it hits the laundry room does start shaking and we've had a few things fall off the shelves around it. I've heard some various recommendations for stabilization that I have not tried yet. I have also read about some mold issues with the washer so it is important when you are done washing you do not seal the door so the leftover water can evaporate. You also should use the cleaning cycle with bleach as recommended to prevent this.

4 Star Review Duet Sport Washer

Strengths:

Silent. Energy efficient. Consumes less time to wash a load.

Weaknesses:

The final beep sound that intimates the completion can be made as a volume adjuster. In my home the washer is in garage, many a times i dont hear the beep sound for its feeble.

Posted Dec 15, 2007 - Overall I am very happy with this washer. Easy to use, energy efficient, water saver, time saver, silent operator, user friendly. I highly recommend this washer. Its one of the best buy I ever made.

5 Star Review A very good value for your money

Strengths:

positive reviews everywhere, low failure ratio, comparatively cheap

Weaknesses:

smaller capacity, some vibration

Posted Dec 7, 2007 - Overall, I would give this washer 90/100. The only reason it didnt get a 100 is that there's a little bit of vibration that you can feel in another room, and the capacity is small. But I think Whirlpool also makes a bigger capacity washer in the "duet" range. Other than that, we liked the washer very much.
