1 Star Review My second one is leaking too!

Strengths:

Works well when not leaking

Weaknesses:

This is the second washer that leaked

Posted 1 month ago - We got a Duet Sport two years ago. It worked fine for a year, then started to leak. The part they said needed to be replaced was on back order, so they replaced the washer with a new one. I've had it a year now, and it too has started leaking. I think it's time to give up on this model and try a new one

1 Star Review Buyer Beware!

Strengths:

Low water usage. Energy efficient.

Weaknesses:

Vibration during spin cycle. Poor quality.

Posted 3 months ago - We have owned a Whirlpool Duet Sport washer and dryer for two years. The dryer's computer board went out shortly after one year. Today we found out the washer needs a new computer board as well. We have three people in our family and wash two to three loads a week, so the machine is not heavily used. We are very disappointed in the quality of our washer/dryer set.

2 Star Review Bellow tears and causes leaks

Strengths:

Leaves clothes dry and reduces drying time. U like the extra white rinse.

Weaknesses:

This is the second time the bellow has torn causing it to leak water on to the floor.

Posted 5 months ago - I am frustrated with having to repair this washer again. We purchased two years ago. There is only the two of us and not a lot of heavy duty loads. Therefore I am unhappy with the repair record. I had a Maytag for 15 years with out any trouble, the motor just went out. It does help to run the bleach cleaing cycle once a month.

1 Star Review The worst Whirlpool product I have ever had!!!!!

Strengths:

None

Weaknesses:

Vibrates so badly that you can hear it over the TV in the adjoining room banging against the wall, mildew collects in the rubber around the door on the inside and outside even though I leave it open.

Posted 1 year ago - In the beginning, I had my washing machine checked for shaking over and over again. They leveled it several times and replaced the shock absorbers. Machine is too heavy for me or any woman to correctly level it or clean behind it at any time. Whirlpool greatly needs to recall these washing/dryer machine products or have parts or problems repaired and replaced! This is my 3rd Whirlpool washing/dryer machines, their worst products ever!! They should not carry the Whirlpool name, they are so bad! Even the dryer timer causes it to run on and on continuously!

5 Star Review Great Combo

Strengths:

Gets wash really clean, very quiet overall, green

Weaknesses:

needs to be levelled carefully

Posted May 25, 2008 - it does need to be levelled very well or the spin cycle will vibrate alot, btthis is also because when it spins at the highest speed it is removing so much of the water in the clothes. They come out of the WASHER alot dryer than from other regular machines. As for the detergent, expensive but you use so little you wont notice.

4 Star Review Great Washer!

Strengths:

Cut down our energy bill tremendously.

Weaknesses:

This washer's capacity is much smaller than the el cheapo one we had for over 7 years. From the outside, you can't really tell as it is so heavy and large. But the inner capacity wish it were bigger.

Posted Feb 14, 2008 - I bought both the washer and dryer for Christmas. They look great together and the price was unbeatable. The regular detergent we had won't work with this washer. We had to get the HE kind, which cost a bit more than the regular. Another thing is you won't see any suds during wash, so it's kind of hard to tell if your clothes are actually being cleaned until you take them out.

1 Star Review leakfest

Strengths:

it wasn't too expensive for a front loader and it's better than the laundromat.

Weaknesses:

it has leaked out the bottom of the door since shortly after we put it in service. the repair folks have been out many times, but it actually seems to be getting worse even with replaced parts.

Posted Jan 23, 2008 - i'd advise against it, but who knows, maybe ours is just a reject. i'm hoping we can trade it in on another brand. my wife wants to try the same model again, but i think she's asking for trouble.

4 Star Review Whirlpool Duet Washer

Strengths:

Efficient, Easy to use, Reliable.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Jan 22, 2008 - This is a fantastic machine. It works well and very efficient. It uses very little water to wash because of the front loading capability. Unlike a top load washer, the Duet front loading washer is very easy to load clothes in and out of the washer and it cleans your clothes well due to its front load design. This washer has saved me money because of its efficiencies and it has made my clothes sparkling clean. Overall, a good buy for anyone looking for a washer.

4 Star Review Great Washer Real quiet

Strengths:

Unbelievably quiet. Washes clothes without beating them up. Efficient

Weaknesses:

Vibrates see comments below

Posted Jan 17, 2008 - This is a great Washer. It is efficient, quiet, and I have had no problems with it - so I like it. The one thing that takes getting used to is the vibrations. This thing spins so fast that it definitely vibrates the floor. It is not overly noisy when doing this, but nonetheless it does vibrate. I am amazed at how fast it spins when drying. oh yea, it drys the clothes very well which means less time in the dryer...

5 Star Review Whirlpool WFW 8300SW Duet Sport Washer

Strengths:

Nice and queit. Washes the clothes nice and fresh.

Weaknesses:

Clumsy soap dispenser tray setup & the washer is really really heavy.

Posted Jan 13, 2008 - Like i said the washer is really really heavy and is about 300lbs so make sure you get enough help when picking up the unit or get delivery because it will be worth it. The dryer is not as heavy and can be easily picked up by 2 people. The sport version of this Duet line is quite a bit smaller than expected. Also please remember that you have to use High Efficiency Detergent and cannot use regular ditergent.

4 Star Review Reltively quiet, cleans well

Strengths:

Energy efficient, noise less obtrusive (than old top loader)

Weaknesses:

You do have to wipe the water out of the front seal and leave door open after using.

Posted Jan 7, 2008 - Bought as a pair with matching dryer because of a very good deal with rebate around black Friday. Washer capacity is less than old top loader, but we are a small family and the top loader was inefficient at smaller loads. While this washer does make noises, they are more water sloshing and not heavy machine motor noises. It must be leveled correctly or the spin cycle can be noisy with vibration. We did not get the pedestals (due to cost) which seems to help keep the spin cycle vibration down.

4 Star Review Good value for money

Strengths:

energy efficient, water-saver, gentle on clothes, cleans well, price, quiet, intuitive interface

Weaknesses:

small capacity, low to ground (unless you buy the pedestal), more expensive HE detergent, water collects and small items get trapped at base of rubber seal

Posted Jan 5, 2008 - Bought washer/dryer pair for great price at black friday sale. Have been very pleased with the performance of both. It's definitely an improvement over my old top-loader in almost every area. Capacity is similar to a standard top-loader. I would recommend this only for single/small families. On average I still need to do 2-3 loads a week for my family of 3. So if you can afford it, a larger capacity washer would be the way to go. One minor thing to note is that water seems to collect around the rubber seal at the base of the opening. I just leave the door open after use to prevent mildew. Also, small items (i.e. baby socks) tend to get stuck in between the rubber seal as well, nothing a lingerie bag won't fix. Overall, great buy.

Weaknesses:

Takes special washing product , expensive when compared to the regular ones.

4 Star Review my first front loader, works great!

Strengths:

quieter than my top-loader, energy efficient, may qualify for a rebate through your energy provider

Weaknesses:

low door if you don't use a pedestal, pedestal prices are absurd (~$200)

Posted Jan 2, 2008 - The washer is a lot quieter than my top-loader during the wash cycles. This is important since the laundry room is near my bedroom & I often start loads when i go to bed. One of the (minor) nags that I have about it, since i don't feel like paying an outrageous $200 for a pedestal, is of the low door height. I know this is so that they can sell the overpriced pedestal, but I will eventually build a platform that will hold both my washer and dryer. Also, I qualified for a $75 energy rebate through my energy provider (PG&E in Northern California) by buying this washer. Be sure to check if your provider has rebates for purchasing energy efficient major appliances.

1 Star Review Clean Washer Cycle

Strengths:

Wash cycles all seem to do a good job.

Weaknesses:

When I run the clean washer cycle, water LEAKS out the bottom of the door.

Posted Dec 29, 2007 - I am waiting for a third service person to come to try to fix this. They have already tried different parts, and no success. This cycle has leaked since the first time I ran it. I just wonder if all the other owners are running their clean washer cycles as suggested. Other than this, it does fine, except that the longer length of the cycles has taken some getting used to.
